My first time back here since COVID started! We came on a Thursday evening at 5pm, so it was relatively empty inside and with quick service. It's busier during peak meal hours, so if we came an hour or so later, I'd imagine it's crowded. We ordered handrolls (hamachi, unagi, spicy scallop, spicy salmon) and the Jordan roll (unagi, salmon, tuna). The fish is always great quality and really tender, and the sauce and seasoning is always delicious. The unagi glaze on both the Jordan roll and handroll was umami and sweet, caramelizing the fish well. Handrolls are always fun to eat, and this was no exception. All were delicious, but the start of the show was the spicy scallop - literally so buttery and melted in my mouth! And the perfect amount of spice. Although it's been 5+ years since my last visit, Cha Cha Sushi still lives up to its standards! Fresh fish and kind staff, what's more to ask for? Will be back!

Cha Cha's Bento boxes are not it. They are mainly known for their rolls but as I am a basic person, I usually like the maki's and nigiri -- the maki was super sloppy and unkempt and for $30 UberEats delivery, the teriyaki was super small and not worth the extra two and the salad and rice was eh. Won't be getting the bento boxes.

My favorite place to go for consistently good quality, good portions, and good prices when I'm craving sushi in SJ. They have a wide variety of rolls on their menu, organized by category (raw, baked, fried, etc.) and each with photos, which I really appreciate. I love getting any of their huge rolls (my favorite is either X-Men or Wolf Tail); they're around $20-21 and fill me up! They also have a great happy hour menu (Mon-Sat from 11:30-5pm) with select $6 or $10 rolls and a few other items. The employees are always sweet and helpful. It's a relatively small restaurant, so waits are typically inevitable especially on weekends.

I've been going here for over a long time now. It gets quite busy around dinner time but usually can get seated asap! There are lots of bar seating which makes it easier. I always come back since the quality is always consistent. I like how convenient it is since the service is quite fast. The rolls are quite huge as well. I got a miso soup (3/5), brandon's roll (4/5), and chicken teriyaki (4/5). I felt like the brandon's roll before had more fish but this time it felt like a smaller portion :o

Cha Cha Sushi still draws a crowd on Capitol Expressway, but this visit felt a little different. It made me wonder if ownership changed. The place was as busy as ever, though the service didn't feel quite as warm. The food seemed less "refined", but rather more hearty--bigger cuts and sweeter sauces. We had a specialty roll topped with fish and scallops that was rich and flavorful, definitely a solid choice. The eel rice bowl came in a big portion and was satisfying. The teriyaki beef ended up being a bit dry and lean for my taste, despite the great presentation. One thing I'll say: they're not shy on portion size. It's still a dependable, neighborhood sushi spot. Perhaps maybe evolving into a more commercial version of itself.

Came back here another time for my sisters birthday. No complaints. It's good for what you get but don't expect anything too tier.

I love cha cha! I love the 49er roll and the lion king roll and idk why they gave me free tea or if I could choose that everytime BUT THEY GAVE ME FREE TEA AND I WAS VERY HAPPY!! Thank you for giving me free tea i love you server woman you are very nice and pretty Food quality hasn't changed in 10 years...ilysm cha cha...but the rolls might be a little smaller tho Ambience is a little loud. And it echos a bit but I don't go anywhere for the ambience, i go for the food.

Kinda small place with a typical neighborhood strip mall sushi spot feel. Came here on a Monday night @ 6pm. Place was full and we waited about 5 minutes for a table to open up. Not bad since there was a decent wait when we left. The food came out fast and overall was good. Mixed tempura- hot dipping sauce and freshly fried. The batter was a bit heavy but ok. Salmon Kama- good just a bit small. It's an appetizer so I guess that's fine. The wolf tail- really big and good. Double tempura shrimp. It was very hard to stuff a whole piece in your mouth so you don't get the full favor of all the ingredients. I did manage to stuff a smaller piece in my mouth and it was good. I almost choked to death. Just a warning. 49er roll- the thinly sliced lemon was a refreshing touch. This was our favorite. The lion king- ok. The baked roll made it a hot mess. Tastes very good if you could keep everything together in one piece. Spider roll- good. Nothing surprising.

Love this place and we always try to eat here if we're ever in San Jose. They get very crowded for dinner, so recommend coming right at 5pm or be prepared to wait or just order takeout. Must order is the 49er roll which comes with fresh salmon and a sliver of lemon on top of a California roll. It is delicious. We've had a fair share of rolls (King Kong, Lion King, Rainbow). Most rolls are massive and delicious!

good sushi & good portions! gets busy even on weekdays so might have a wait! not the nicest interior (feels tight and no decor) but service is fast.

this is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in the Bay Area for consistently good rolls it had been awhile since I've been back -- my friend and I came around 2pm on a Saturday and there was no wait although the interior is a little small, the staff was very friendly I ordered the 49ers roll and it was as good as I remember -- the fish was very fresh. however, I was a bit thrown off by the price. it was $20 and the other roll I was considering getting was $23 it's been a few years since I last visited so I was surprised by the prices because they definitely went up a lot since my last visit -- I think coming here will become more of a once in awhile treat but I'm glad the sushi is always good whenever I decide to visit

We came around 12pm which was right before the rush. Service is really nice and attentive and between 11:30-5pm is happy hour so some rolls are only $6-$10. We got a red and gold, sake roll, cha cha, GSW, and MVP. All of them really good but I wish there were more raw rolls on the happy hour. Store can get really crowded during lunch but otherwise it's pretty clean.

Is the chicken teriyaki appetizer come with only breast meat option?

    Yes

Why is the phone always disconnected when I call and online "pick up" ordering is closed? This place is one of my favorite sushi restaurants but it's frustrating when I can never order ahead of time.

We've asked when going in person and the employees have told us it's mostly due to the volume of business they are experiencing and as a result the phone doesn't always get put back on the receiver.

To management, My kids can't eat spicy therefore every time I called in and place order crab meet crab dish I always provided my phone number to make sure I get the same dish…

Limited staff so not always the one that might know your regular order

Are the opened for indoor dining yet?

    Nope.

Do they use real crab or imitation crab in California Roll?

    Imitation

Is this place open for dine in yet?

    Yes it is.

What time are you guys open on Saturdays? I tried calling and placing order online around 5:50p, but no avail.

Their phone rings off the hook near dinner times. I've called around 6pm several times on weekdays and not been picked up either. Usually that means the wait time for takeout will be very long (40+ min.) so then I usually decide it's better to go…

Is Cha Cha going to be open on Thursday December 24th? What hours

Are they open for take out during the Shelter In Place?

Yes they are! We just got some Sushi from there tonight. They even (usually) do online ordering and free delivery (if you live within 3m of the restaurant). Their online system was down for some bug fixes today. FYI, they are closed Sunday.

Anyone knows if there open or close because of covid19?

Yep, they are open Monday - Saturday from 11:30 AM to 9 PM for take-out and you can order online. Free delivery is offered within a 3-mile radius of the restaurant for orders $50.…

Is there modified hours or still normal operational hours?

Their website shows they open Monday to Saturday 11:30-9. Just went today, they are offering free delivery for $50 order within 3 miles too.

    Are there gluten free options?

    Not that I know of

Why is this place so popular?

They offer larger portions in many of the dishes.

    Is open today?

    call them and ask!

    Is this AYCE?

no, you order on the menu its not all you can eat

    What times are they slow?

That place is never slow. Maybe right when they open. Weve had to start eating at Senro Sushi since its awesome too but we never wait more then 15 minutes there.…

This restaurant used to be my favorite place, but not after my recent experience on 9/5/26. It was Friday night, but only 3 parties were already dining in. I ordered an Assorted Sashimi Plate and Saba Shioyaki Dinner after another party was seated. It took them about 20 minutes to bring out an uncooked Saba Shioyaki (Mackerel), while my sashimi (uncooked fish) dinner was still somewhere in limbo. I also realized that people who sat next to us got their food, although they came after. I refused the Saba Shioyaki Dinner and asked for the menu so I could order Hamachi Karma and Hawaiian poke salad. Another 15 minutes later, they brought out the Poke and Hamachi Karma. I was making a joke with my friend that hopefully the Karma is not uncooked. Son of a Gun! It was gelatin inside; we could see the pink bone! My friend was upset, so he stood up and complained to the waiter. My sashimi dinner finally came out, and it tasted just like frozen fish. At that point, I was completely done with this place. I paid my bill with a $10 reward card discount and gave my extra card away to the other party who had just sat down. This gesture meant that I wouldn't come back here anytime soon.

Interior looks same as I remembered, service was also pretty friendly. We ordered a 12 piece sashimi plate, tempura shrimps and a sunshine roll to share. The sashimi plate served with miso soup and salad came with almost 20 pieces, the chef was generous; not only the fish was fresh, he also added some fresh wasabi which really enhanced the flavors. The tempura was ok to me, but hubby enjoyed the crunchy shrimps quite well. The sunshine roll was my least favorite primarily because it's too sweet perhaps just a matter of personal preference. We also received two pieces of complimentary grilled salmon belly, they were fresh, moist, with crispy skin; simply delicious. Very glad that we rediscovered Suro, will be back again soon.
