ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! We are from Kentucky and stopped on our way thru while traveling thru. We were seated quickly depsite the place being busy. Our first time here and will not be our last. Everything on the menu looked delicious. The drinks came right away and we ordered chips and salsa which were very fresh. Our food took a little long and a few things were sold out but the food was delicious and service was great. I got the crispy taco plate which was awesome. If you live anywhere near Chacho's Tacos and you do not start your day with tacos from here, you are missing out. I've traveled many places and I say confidently, these are the BEST I've had. Had the Tripas(extra crispy),potato/egg with cheese, and the bean/egg with cheese. All were on point! Tortillas are SUPERB!(only better ones are my Mom's) The friendliness of the staff made my meal that much more enjoyable. Small place with limited parking but very clean. Drive thru, waitress walked out to car to take my order - bean, egg, cheese taco. They would only give me one salsa, so I chose red. Taco and contents were luke warm. Not sure if that's because the eggs are pre-made or because it was finished before I got up to the window. I called in an order of tacos after staying a long night in the hospital by my dads side. I was starving and exhausted. I pulled up to this little shack of a place and there was a drive thru which made me excited that I didn't have to go in. There were 2 cars a head of me and much to my delight a woman with a notepad walked out to take my order. I told her I had called it in. She took my payment and rather quickly I was able to pull up to the window. I was shocked- in a good way to find out my 2, 4 ingredient tacos were a total of $6.95! Coming from San Antonio, the Taco capital, it's always been hard to find solid or even good, straight up tacos in Corpus. Finally found this place online and it looks like a hole in the wall so that's always a good sign. The tacos were dank af. Handmade, soft, fluffy flour tortillas. The only thing that kept this being a 5 star vs a 4, was the lack of salt in the food. The taste was on point once I added salt. This was our first visit to Chacho's. It's a tiny place. Very casual. The food is wonderful. We had the flautas plate and the crispy tacos plate. They were crispy and tasty. The rice and beans were especially delicious. The service was friendly and quick to refill drinks. The TV was a bit loud, but it showed cooking shows and local news, so not too bad. I have looked for real puffy tacos in Corpus Christi since moving here 25 years ago. I grew up on them in San Antonio and still get them every time I go up. Every time someone tells me about a place, I go only to find basically a taco salad, puffed shell with a hole in the middle. But today I discovered Chacho's Tacos. And the best puffy tacos since childhood 60+ years ago! (See photo) I just ate at Alamo Cafe in San Antonio, and their puffy tacos are good, but not this good. I couldn't find them on the menu, so you have to ask. If this place wasn't clear across town I would eat there every day! This is a small, neighborhood, family run type cafe, and is only open from 5:30 AM until 2 PM. And only serves puffy tacos from about 10:45 AM, so you only have a narrow window, but it is worth it. As I write this (4/5/22) there is a lot of construction on Ayers with detours if you are coming from the freeway (SPID). So allow for that. read more

The 14 inch breakfast burrito isn't only a sight to see. It's a challenge. Good thing my two chumps of a friends ordered it while I watched them battle the behemoth of a Chacho Breakfast Burrito. Me, I got the very tender and flavorful lengua taco and a crispy and hearty gordita. Made a good and bad mistake of having too many of their house tortilla chips since they are cut thick and the salsas are spicy and delicious. I'm still getting accustomed to the taste of menudo but if I was I would probably say Chacho's is great. Great food at a great price.
