We met the owner there and she was super nice and shared her experience about her elephant café in Lake Forest. Here are my favorite foods in order. Tom Yum Chicken sautee Red curry Beef basil Pad see ew This place isn't busy. It is hard to compete against all the other restaurants in this little center. It is hidden behind the Fortune Mall, but I think once people start figuring out how authentic their food is, it may blow up, but I hope it is not a really saturated by all the other Vietnamese neighbors. First time trying this spot and the food is pretty good here. We came in for dinner around 8pm and the server was very friendly and sweet. We notice she had the same mini trader joe bag and started talking to her about the next release drop coming soon. The interior is clean and roomy. It wasn't that busy that night, so we got seated quickly. We ordered the Pad Thai, Papaya Salad, and lastly the Tom Yum soup. We got spicy for all of them. If you don't, the flavor profile will not be hitting. Traditionally you gotta eat it spicy! The papaya salad was good and the Pad Thai noodles portion was pretty small for family style. My favorite dish was the Tom Yum for sure. It tastes very authentic and I love how they put a lot of mushroom in the soup. The spicy and savoriness was well balanced. If it's a little salty, eat it with rice. Makes a good combo! At the very end, we were very full and we had to Togo the soup. I am absolutely devastated. This used to be my favorite restaurant. It HAD consistently good Thai food. I would even say it's the only restaurant in my area that did. Now, it's a disappointing mess. The golden tofu (not pictured) which was my favorite thing on the menu is not the same AT ALL. it's flavorless and tough. not light, fluffy, and crispy. The Pad Thai tastes like ketchup. The tofu in the pad see ew was like eating a sponge. The Thai tea was bitter. Everything was edible but not enjoyable when I knew what it used to be. We were able to get to this area after shopping at 85* Cafe (we thought we'd have to drive all the way around to park, but there were signs that guided us to the back of the building and out to the right) Looks way better on the inside--it's well-decorated and clean! Waiters were very nice and accommodating towards my peanut allergy (menu was also clear as to what had gluten/nuts/etc). Plates and bowls nice quality, and the sauces had their own adorable spoons. We got the yellow curry (loved that they didn't put too much onion like other restos and that it wasn't too thick) and the Crying Tiger (juicy and their in-house sauce on the side was AMAZINGG--i had to ask them about it). No lunch specials anymore but I ordered the least expensive dish I could find. Yellow curry with chicken for $13. Plus rice for $3. This was excellent. It was enough for two, loaded with chicken, potatoes and carrots. It wasn't thick but still very rich just perfect. I brought half of it home to have everyone try. We all love a good Thai curry and this was at the top. I was the only customer at lunch (bring back lunch specials!) but the service and freshness were great. After a long night of partying, all we wanted was some Thai curry and carbs, lo and behold - Chada Thai (under new management) made our morning after delicious, warm, and gave us a nice kick. We had the cream cheese wontons, yellow curry and khao soi, and the servings are deceptively larger than you think. Flavors were exactly what we needed, and the ambiance was lovely on the inside. Rock solid lunch stop. Food came out fast, like lightning fast. At first this made me question how tasty it would be but apparently they just have Superman working in the back. In fairness, we came in a little after the normal lunch rush so maybe they just weren't super busy. They have lunch options in the $12-14 range depending on your choice of protein. Tofu isn't listed as an option, but when I asked they were happy to accommodate. Hubby was pleased with the combo: chicken, beef AND shrimp. For $14? You can't cook this at home for that price. Lunches came with a salad. It's just lettuce and thinly sliced carrot, but it does come with a very tasty house dressing that has a nice thick peanut consistency. Yum! Portion sizes were great. I love Thai food so I normally polish off a lunch special no problem but I actually had leftovers after a very filling meal. The white rice even comes served in a cute little heart. I am very excited to share my experience at Chada Thai restaurant. I ordered the pineapple curry with shrimp. This was an explosion of flavors in my mouth with the blend of sweet pineapple and creamy coconut milk balanced with the savory curry and delicious shrimp. It did not come with any rice so I did order sticky rice on the side. This dish is supposed to be a bit spicy, but I found it to be more on the sweeter side due to the pineapple. For dessert I had to try the mango sticky rice. We were lucky enough that they had one more left. Ever since that day, I've been craving it and can't wait to go back for more. We ordered take out, so I can't review the service entirely, but the owner was super friendly (and graciously gave us a thai tea on the house!). The menu is very clear and straightforward. I like my pad thai a little on the sweeter side and this dish is perfect. Pad See Mao: This was just okay. I like my food spicy when it's supposed to be, but I didn't get even a hint of spice with their Medium level. I'll be sure to amp it up next time. It's in the back behind 85 degree bakery so I drive past 99 cents and just park in the back parking lot, which has a lot of available spaces. The staff is extremely friendly and offered to assist our group with any questions. Their pad Thai is not too sweet, which I really enjoy. As you're eating their dishes, it's easy to tell that they use high quality ingredients because of both the flavor and appearance.
