We met the owner there and she was super nice and shared her experience about her elephant café in Lake Forest. Here are my favorite foods in order. Tom Yum Chicken sautee Red curry Beef basil Pad see ew This place isn't busy. It is hard to compete against all the other restaurants in this little center. It is hidden behind the Fortune Mall, but I think once people start figuring out how authentic their food is, it may blow up, but I hope it is not a really saturated by all the other Vietnamese neighbors. This is a nice small spot, initially hard to find due to Google Maps directing us to the front of the mall which in fact it's in the back. I am absolutely devastated. This used to be my favorite restaurant. It HAD consistently good Thai food. I would even say it's the only restaurant in my area that did. Now, it's a disappointing mess. The golden tofu (not pictured) which was my favorite thing on the menu is not the same AT ALL. it's flavorless and tough. not light, fluffy, and crispy. The Pad Thai tastes like ketchup. The tofu in the pad see ew was like eating a sponge. The Thai tea was bitter. Everything was edible but not enjoyable when I knew what it used to be. This was one of the saddest days I've ever gone through...The owner of Chada Thai had sold their business to a friend, and now it's Chada Thai 2.0... The recipes and taste are completely different. The prices gone up, and it's just like your ordinary Thai restaurant. She said she needed to sell the business to take care of her severely ill husband, so I can't be really mad about that. After a long night of partying, all we wanted was some Thai curry and carbs, lo and behold - Chada Thai (under new management) made our morning after delicious, warm, and gave us a nice kick. We had the cream cheese wontons, yellow curry and khao soi, and the servings are deceptively larger than you think. Flavors were exactly what we needed, and the ambiance was lovely on the inside. Rock solid lunch stop. Food came out fast, like lightning fast. At first this made me question how tasty it would be but apparently they just have Superman working in the back. In fairness, we came in a little after the normal lunch rush so maybe they just weren't super busy. They have lunch options in the $12-14 range depending on your choice of protein. Tofu isn't listed as an option, but when I asked they were happy to accommodate. Hubby was pleased with the combo: chicken, beef AND shrimp. For $14? You can't cook this at home for that price. Lunches came with a salad. It's just lettuce and thinly sliced carrot, but it does come with a very tasty house dressing that has a nice thick peanut consistency. Yum! Portion sizes were great. I love Thai food so I normally polish off a lunch special no problem but I actually had leftovers after a very filling meal. The white rice even comes served in a cute little heart. I am very excited to share my experience at Chada Thai restaurant. I ordered the pineapple curry with shrimp. This was an explosion of flavors in my mouth with the blend of sweet pineapple and creamy coconut milk balanced with the savory curry and delicious shrimp. It did not come with any rice so I did order sticky rice on the side. This dish is supposed to be a bit spicy, but I found it to be more on the sweeter side due to the pineapple. For dessert I had to try the mango sticky rice. We were lucky enough that they had one more left. Ever since that day, I've been craving it and can't wait to go back for more. It might appeal to people unfamiliar with Asian cuisine, but if you know Asian food, this will likely be disappointing. The woman at the front desk was also not very friendly. On top of that, be careful when paying: the tip options start at 20%, 22%, and 25%, which felt inappropriate given the quality of the service. The peanut sauce is more tangier than traditional, but overall still very good. It is a little pricey being $10 for just 2 rolls. Pad Thai: 5/5! I like my pad thai a little on the sweeter side and this dish is perfect. Pad See Mao: This was just okay. I like my food spicy when it's supposed to be, but I didn't get even a hint of spice with their Medium level. I'll be sure to amp it up next time. It's in the back behind 85 degree bakery so I drive past 99 cents and just park in the back parking lot, which has a lot of available spaces. I think because it's hidden, it's never too busy but both times I came (Sunday 12:00 PM and Monday 6:00 PM), there was no wait. The food and service is great! I tried the following: - Chicken Pad Thai $12.95 - Golden Tofu $10.95 - Papaya Salad $11.95 - Pad See-Ew $12.95 plus $2.00 for beef Everything was delicious and such a great price. Food: We normally order the Pad See Ew, but when they changed ownership they changed their recipe too, which is normal. The Pad See Ew was not dry having a lot of sauce and needed more char. Their noodles also lacked connection and noodles kept falling apart. Not just that, the prices went up too. Ambiance: The environment was nice looking.
