Nicely laid out venue so it is easy to get from watching the horses parade round the ring then to the front to put a bet on and to watch the race. When we went we booked a fairly priced deal where you got a bite to eat included - think it was sandwiches and a drink etc. You can also buy other food such as hot roast sarnies on site. I would recommend here for an enjoyable day out.

A Fascinating Day Out…read more We got a discount vouchers for this place and thought it might be interesting and it certainly was. Our guide whose name escape me just now was an absolute joy to listen to as using his knowledge he brought the whole tour alive. From the ingredients in beer to the brewing process through the ages including some beautiful vintage vehicles to the steam engine what was supposed to last 11/2 hours ended up being at least 2 hours not that it seemed to be that long. All in all we had a great time so much so that we intend to return and would certainly recommend it.

This has recently re-opened as the National Brewery Centre and has had a bit of a facelift. It is a…read moresmall museum which shows the history of brewing in Burton with a mix of machinery, video displays and wall boards. A family ticket - two adults and two children - is £27.50 which covers the museum and four drinks tasters (1/7th pint each) per person (squash for the kids, beer for the grown-ups). There is plenty of free parking. Sadly the whole thing was a bit of a disappointment. Most of the video displays were broken, the shire horses were out, and there was very little actually to experience. Anything interesting was cordoned off, so we could look at the outside of a bus, a train, some machinery, but not get close. Basically it is a small museum, with a couple of rooms of stuff in but not much to engage with. It is hard to see how they justify the new grander name of "The National Brewery Centre" and £27.50 is even harder to justify. When I was there they were doing some development work, so I hope they are expanding and improving. As of today though, one to miss.

They have a mixture of exhibitions from paintings, sculptures and live performances. The open day was really good, they had various workshops on including belly dancing and henna painting, it was a well attended event. The events/exhibitions are free and its open every day of the week. They've also got a cafe bar where you can grab a coffee or bite to eat (more snack type foods rather than proper meals), all of which are reasonably priced. The outside of the building looks really cosmopolitan and makes this place a delight to visit

On a nice sunny day - arrive early and stroll around enjoying the beauty, a little shopping perhaps? There is also a ice cream shop and two decent restaurants Talking of restaurants the Red Carpet has its own restaurant - I have posted a typical menu - there you can reserve a table for dinner before the show. And yes it has a full bar All in all - and absolute must visit (often). Recently we enjoyed Rocket Man here - twice! And in a week or so The Irishman is coming here (again before the Odeon I believe. They show a mixture of current, classic and independent films plus some musical theatre, opera and ballet. Really comfortable seats with plenty of leg room. Pricing is very reasonable with a pre noon price of £4.50 per adult. Only criticism of the cinema itself is the volume of the films could be slightly louder but maybe that's because the last film I saw was The Jungle Book and there was 2 unruly children in the next row! Cafe bar is nice, service is quite slow though and food average, I have only eaten here once but wouldn't rush back. I tend to order a glass of wine and take it into the cinema with me! Bliss!

I have done a self-guided stadium tour though, in 2011, when I'd had some of the best fun imaginable in Nottingham (hi Kerry!). I look forward to my return, to see her again, and to see both the Notts stadiums again. Hopefully this time (2016) I can watch a live game here. What a hidden gem! Tucked away above the streets and shops of Nottingham, Tilt was a real highlight…read moreof my last visit to the city. We were on our last legs of the evening after a huge burger at Annie's and with the understanding that the next day would be a heavy one on account of my friend's wedding, we wanted somewhere relaxed for a quick drink and then back to the hotel. I'd spotted people walking into Tilt earlier in the evening, so suggested we check it out. There was a bouncer outside who let us in up the dark, curtained hallway. Luckily, up the flight of stairs is a great bar playing amazing jazz and blues music, with some delicious cocktails to keep you going. It's a small, dark and would be smoky if smoking was still allowed inside kind of vibe. The bar is small and the tables very close together, but if you can get a seat and have the patience to wait for the bar (or an eagle eye for when there's a lull) it's a great place to spend some time. We had gin cocktails at around the £7 mark. I went for the French 75 - gin, mixed with lemon and sugar, then topped with prosecco. It was efficiently made by the two (yes, just two!) bar staff and I was soon sat back down. It was a refreshing drink though I couldn't help but be jealous of the fruity Chelsea Rose, which included gin, raspberry, apple juice and lime served over crushed ice. I love a hidden bar and this was a great discovery.
