Good price on the job. Oil is low right now…read more During the prep work an equipment operator clipped the sill cock off the side of the house. Also the stone base was put in a couple of inches higher than it should have been as they didn't dig out the base enough. This would be an issue near one of my basement windows. The stone base was already above the sill and I was concerned that the pavement would be higher than the window level allowing rain water into the basement. I called their office the day after the prep work was done about this. I was told to tell them how much the repair to the sill cock would be in that they would cover it. I was also told per the owner that they would do final grading before they paved to get the level down where it needed to be. When they arrived to put the first coat of black top down they did grade down by the window a bit. However the paving still ended up a couple of inches higher than the windowsill. They didn't burn u when they arrived to put the first coat of black top down they did grade down by the window a bit. However the paving still ended up a couple of inches higher than the windowsill. They did berm up the pavement so it would cause most of the rainwater to run away from the window. However there is still a well where the water can catch and drain into the basement. It should be interesting on the first rainfall to see how wet things get. When the job was done the cleanup was haphazard. When the owner came to collect payment I brought up the sill cock that was broken by their equipment operator and at first it seemed like he was not going to make good on it. I offered for him to take $50 off of the bill to cover my time and materials which initially balked at. Once I pulled out my receipts for the parts he finally acquiesced. Overall I am not happy with the quality of the job. I will just need to wait until the first rainstorm to see how much of a liability the paving is around that window.
