I had the most bizarre experience recently with the Chagrin Animal Clinic. I'm wondering if anybody else has had any issues with them? I had been going there for 10 years and never had any issues at all. Recently, I brought my dog in to have his nails Dremelled. When they brought him out, I noticed the nails on his hind feet had been clipped, and were sharp and rough. I asked them if they would go back and Dremel them a bit more so they would be smoother. (They said they had Dremelled them.) I was not rude in the slightest. When I went to pay my bill, the receptionist, Ali, had just come from the back and had clearly spoken with the young vet tech who was working with my dog. The receptionist had a huge chip on her shoulder and was beyond rude to me even to the point of flinging my credit card at me. Not only was she extremely rude, but they charged me again to Dremel my dog's nails, because she said it took additional time. I remained matter of fact, had no reaction other than to ask why I had to pay twice, and paid the bill. I was totally flabbergasted at what had just occurred. I didn't understand it. There was nothing I did whatsoever to provoke the nastiness and the attitude, except to ask them to Dremel the dogs nails a bit more so they were smooth. The next thing I know, I received a letter in the mail saying that we were no longer clients of the Chagrin Animal Clinic. I swear to G-d, I'm not exaggerating and I'm not making this up! I'm curious if others have had issues with the staff there. I'm also wondering if anybody out there knows the name or has any information about the corporation that bought the Chagrin Animal Clinic. I would like to let them know what happened. I had originally posted this on NextDoor and posted response I received after exchaging emails with Angela Deputy, the chief human resource officer there. Dr Lubenger and the staff are an awesome team! We have two dogs, a 7 yr old German Shepherd and a 9 yr old. Stizu-Poodle. Our German has had digestive issues for years and he is on the skinny side. Dr Lubenger took the time to sit with us to truly figure out a plan to help our dog. Dr Lubenger narrowed it down to the food we were giving our dog. The Doc suggested a prescription dog food and since that point, he has been great!!! She was the only one that didn't just offer medications to make more money from the diagnosis but actually treat our dog. Well-done Dr Lubenger!!! Dr Lubenger is extremely accessible and compassionate person! The front desk staff, Elliott and Ally are super kind and welcoming. They truly care about your pets and you as a pet owner. Veterinarians and their staff members do not get the credit they deserve! This team is AMAZING! We will not go anywhere else!!! read more

I love Chagrin Animal Clinic and Dr Scaravelli, along with the rest of the staff. I have a daschund beagle mix and he's there regularly for nail clippings and check ups. The staff are so sweet, always say nice things about my dog, and take excellent care of him. Clearly they are incredibly knowledgeable and I fully trust my dog's health in their care. Facility is super clean, service is alway quick. I recommend Chagrin Animal Clinic to everyone I know. read more

We had never used this clinic before, since our pets were usually treated by a vet in Newbury. But when it came time to euthanize our beloved cat Lincoln, we didn't want him to suffer the additional stress of a longer car ride. Dr. Firestone and his assistant were very caring, and helped us say goodbye to Lincoln with love and dignity. They did not charge us for a legally-mandated exam, and the service costs were very reasonable. We will definitely be bringing our other animals to this clinic in the future. read more

Just had our first appointment with Dr. Bender and Courtney, the RVT, both of whom were incredibly kind, welcoming, and professional. We felt heard and they were responsive to our questions. They explained our dog's test results with clarity and also ruled out other possible concerns. Our dog was treated with care, kindness, and patience. As new patients, we were also sent home with a thoughtful "goody bag," which was unexpected yet appreciated. I have been to other practices through the years with my dogs and cats and must say that this practice is definitely worth the extra drive for us. The receptionist and all members of the team were pleasant, good listeners, and had an admirable bedside manner, both noted for human and animal clients. read more

If your looking for a lovey, dovey vet to ooh and ahhh over your fur baby, Dr Eldridge is not for you. If you are looking for a pragmatic, thorough, skilled, knowledgeable care giver, he's your vet. We have been very pleased with Dr Eldridge and the staff in caring for our dog and cat. Our dog is a diva and doesn't like other four legged creatures. They staff are very patient in helping clear the path to the exam room, minimizing her stress (and mine!) Highly recommend Dr Eldridge and the staff! read more

I left my other vet to try this out and now have moved all my animals under their care. Office calls are still reasonable. The vets and techs are very friendly and understanding. The care has been much better and my animals are happy!! I drive across the county to be there and its worth it!! read more

Chagrin Animal Clinic now is not the legacy Dr. Eldridge and his wife created over decades. Dr. Eldridge and Dr. Scaravelli are not there anymore. I was a client for over 20 years and 4 dogs. When they left the practice it was a loss to the community. Dr. Eldridge saved my dogs lives a few times. He was a confident practitioner, with clinical experience to "feel" that one of my dog's spleen did not feel right. He saved his life. He was a gifted surgeon doing surgeries successfully that even board certified surgeons could not do. When I took my dog in for blood work after Dr. Eldridge left, the new vet seemed, in my opinion, lacking confidence and skill in dealing with people and could not even take blood without making my dog cry out in pain. The veteran vet TECH who had been with the clinic for decades had to come in and peacefully and skillfully do the job. In the roughly 12 years that Dr. Eldridge drew blood for this dog, never did my dog wince in discomfort. Also, my appointment was for 8:10AM and was not seen until about 8:45 AM. My dog tended to bilious vomit in the mornings and I wanted blood drawn as soon as possible so she could eat before she vomited. The clinic with the new "guard" was not sensitive to this. I was made to wait. The clinical experience there is lacking by my standards and it would have been nice to have some male veterinarians and/or vets with more years of clinical experience who could at least take blood without making the dog cry out. Seems like a "green" team there now.. Any kudos I have for Chagrin Animal Clinic were for the original veterinarians and staff who worked hard and were compassionate to animals and their owners read more

I fully agree that since the Eldridge's have left, the vet has gone into the dumps.   In our assumption, and from our friends who have gone there, the prices have almost doubled.   We called them to see our dog for a skin problem and they said "we will work him in".   At no point was I told that this was considered an "emergency visit" and we'd be charged $100 more.   We brought our dog in and the visit was at best, 15 minutes long.   They charged $44 to simply shave the hair off of the effected area.   I should have taken him to Arra Hair salon down the street.   The medication was expensive and the visit was $200 total.   When I called to complain to the senior vet, she was cold, non-caring and refused to adjust my bill one penny as she said it was an emergency visit.   I stated that no one told me as such, and she said "thank you for pointing that out and we will do a better job training".   It would have been NOTHING for her to take off the "emergency charge" and have a happy client (we have been going there for over 20 years), but no...This is now a CORPORATE RUN vet, and money is money.   All of the loyalty and love that Jim and Karen had built with the community has disappeared.   The new senior vet said she'd be more than happy to put our dogs files together so we can take them to a new vet.   That's pretty cold for a new business trying to engender customer loyalty.   Save yourself some money and find a new vet. read more

They took care of my first cat. Now I adopted another rescue cat with significant vet concerns. They are really reasonable... I've talked to Dr. Eldridge a million times about my cat. He always calls you back. He is very calm when I'm worked up! read more

I have complete confidence that my dog's best interest is always foremost at Chagrin Animal Clinic. Both Dr. Eldridge and Dr. Scaravelli take their time when examining and explaining things every time I have been there and I have been going there for years. I never feel rushed and always have all of my questions answered. I feel listened to and believe both of these excellent vets are very compassionate people. I would not consider going anywhere else.
