Air con in the room worked great. We liked having the living area as we could sit on the little sofa or chairs and watch tv. No English channels tho.. except CNN. Outside balcony from our room was lovely, maybe an umbrella would have been really nice as we got full am sun. Lovely to sit on deck and watch the world go by. Our stay here was very nice. The pool was lovely the outside bar area lovely. We didn't eat in the restaurant at as it was pricey.. Close to the beach town (where all the action is) you can walk along the beach for 1/2 mile to get to all the action of the seaside shops, restaurants & market alleys. Lots of fun kiddies arcades/bouncy type places on the way. We would def stay here again. We had booked this hotel with Expedia and wish we'd showed our paid receipt up front as when we were checking out we had to spend 25 mins trying to show we'd already paid up front for our room/stay. That was super annoying as the lobby has no air & we then got a late start. Given 4 star for service, facilities and location But if I was rating the room I'd really only give 2.5 star for dated decor. But 3.5 star for updated lovely bathroom with double shower heads. Breakfast is ample and offers a good variety of fare including hot and cold choices, served in the 1st floor dining area. The area is also the hotel bar and is laid out around the feature staircase down to the tiny central foyer. The breakfast buffet area can become somewhat cramped at busier times. The rooms are adequate but not what I would call 4 star. Though clean and tidy and offering a well stocked mini-bar and coffee and tea making facilities they are somewhat 'tired'. My bathroom was in need of renovation. The shower head refused to stay put and always slipped, giving the wall a better shower than me. There were also dirty gaps between the tiles around the bath/shower and some mould. The usual supply of bathroom products was fine, as was the linen. My bed was a too soft for my taste, but none the less comfortable and well presented. I was lucky to have a working safe in my room, though other members of my party had no safe or a non-working safe, hotel information does indicate that all rooms have safes. The tariff is very competitive and I would consider staying here again, though I'm sure there must be better 4 star hotels in this city, but doubt that on price and value this Mercure hotel would be beaten. To sum up, I give this hotel 4, I'd like to give 3.5 but cannot do that on Yelp, so I give 4 stars because of the staff who were all a credit to the establishment.
