It's unusual so I felt lucky I saw it as I passed by. It's been covered in plexiglass for protection against the weather. It appears people and businesses are rallying to keep it from removal. It fun to photograph public art or as some call his work Graffiti. I'm glad I have the photos in my collection. It's my first Banksy.

Check it out on the UWS and get some cool pictures in front of here. The art doesn't look like it's complex, more of like a commentary that's the more complex thing about this. It somehow has become a thing to check out, because it's one of the few surviving pieces of Banksy public art. Officially it's titled Better Out Than In #20, and was part of a series. These appeared on the UWS in October 2013 and most disappeared soon after that. An acrylic panel protects it from graffiti artists...such as Banksy. So ironic. Zabar's put up the protection and has made the public aware of this. Cool that a great place like that takes an interest in art. They have some of the best bagels so be sure to go get some. As Banksy has gone onto bigger things it's cool that one of his older projects is around. It's at Broadway and 79th on the side of a building. This is a few blocks from Zabar's.

Hand and fingers pointing down as it's ready to pluck up an unsuspecting person strolling by. That's pretty much it. A big giant arm. Beware.

I remember like 2 years ago maybe more I was walking around somewhere in midtown and I see this…read moregiant hand mural, and the hand has a thumb and forefinger pinching downwards, like about to pick up something. I took a photo or two of it, but I forgot all about it. Lucky for me I found it again, only this time I can see not just the hand but the rolling gate of the garage closed next to it and I can see it's a giant arm running across the building across the gate too. it's at 7 East 59th Street, just east of Fifth Avenue. I am amazed it took two years to find it again in a location near where I work. I was able to find out the artist was a French graffiti master known only as JR but other than that I don't know the official name of the mural or when it was painted when I do I will update this review but for now I will call it the Giant Arm.

Hare on a Bell is a Barry Flanagan Sculpture I have seen and photographed several times over the…read moreyears. This section of space has seating and a peaceful atmosphere to sit outside with the public art enhancing your experience. Some people (like me) go out of their way to photograph these works of art. "Hare on Bell" is a bronze sculpture created in 1988 by artist Barry Flanagan. This particular piece is a limited edition of only five plus two artist proofs. It has been exhibited in London, Monaco, Tokyo, Montreal, Dublin and elsewhere before landing here in New York. Barry Flanagan (Order of the British Empire and Member of the Royal Academy) was an Irish-Welsh sculptor. He is best known for his bronze statues of hares and other animals. He was the subject of a biographical film by Peter Bach, The Man Who Sculpted Hares: Barry Flanagan, A Life. When here I expected to see more. Sure, some of the graffiti art is creative and well done, and these people have great talent. Yet, you can view just as much cool graffiti art walking around the streets of Harlem and El Barrio on buildings and side streets. Just look around and keep your eyes open.

This monument is located in The Mall area of Central Park. This monument honours the trailblazing…read morework of pioneering women's rights advocates Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Sculptor Meredith Bergmann shows the three women as activists at work: Sojourner Truth speaking, Susan B. Anthony organizing, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton writing. These visionaries (all of whom were New Yorkers) join William Shakespeare, Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott, and Fitz-Greene Halleck on the southern end of the Mall. While honouring Truth, Anthony, and Stanton's specific efforts on behalf of women's suffrage, women's civil rights, and the abolition of slavery, the Women's Rights Pioneers Monument also acknowledges the importance of representing women in New York's flagship park. Reflection Mural…read more After checking my Yelp 'To Visit' collection I found myself in the area of the Reflection Mural. A quick walk going East on 42nd Street put me close. I was using the Yelp Map. What I didn't realize was that I was walking facing East and the side of the building where the mural is located was behind me. It's facing East at 212 East 42 Street. The mural is a huge beautiful face framed in a floral extravaganza. The details of the eyelashes and the reflection in the eyes is fantastic. It's so beautiful. If you're a fan of enjoying and visiting public artwork you'll love this piece. I'm so glad I have my photos to look at. You need to get there before time passes and it's gone! In 2019 a major 5 mural project began in order to represent the fight against child labor by…read moreworld-renowned artists in the streets of Midtown Manhattan. See my Yelp review on the "Future Of Work" The largest of these murals was undertaken by Cuban-American artist Jorge Rodríguez Gerada called "Reflection", it is 132 feet high and 160 feet wide and made to conform to and uneven sidewall with windows. Jorge painted a white caucasian child's face with big blue eyes containing scenarios of child-trafficking victims within the iris of both pupils.  The theme is advocating against child-trafficking and child labor, which are both rampant in around the world. The mural is on the far east side of 42nd street and can only be seen look west when you're like 50 feet on the ally on t6he side of the Westin Hotel and so it is unknown to most New Yorkers,

Central Park Horse Sculptures is a Public Art Exhibit Location. I took photos but had no idea…read moresomeone entered this Public Art Project into Yelp. The strange looking horses on display are huge. I frequently visit this spot near the Plaza Hotel because it has space for public art. There's lots of food carts, artists, and musicians in the area too. I'm particularly fond of the Nathan's Hot Dog Stand! This location is the at the popular entrance to Central Park called Wien Walk. This installation may be gone now, but I suggest you stop by this location periodically to see if anything new has been installed. This is a great area for historic landmarks and park activities. There's the Zoo, Carriage Rides, the Carousel, and the Apple Store nearby too. I'm recommending!

You'll see these very cool 15-foot-tall aluminum sculptures of horses at the Fifth Avenue entrance…read moreof Central Park. They just went up last week and will be on display through Aug. 30, 2020. They were created by a French sculptor named Jean-Marie Appriou, and he carved the models in foam and clay before they were cast in aluminum. What's very cool about the sculptures is that they aren't sterile or unapproachable. Instead of being mounted on pedestals or stone bases, they stand on the ground so park visitors can walk through and around them. Central Park is full of sculptures and wonders. The Horses just joined that stellar line-up.

The Mall and Literary Walk in Central Park is a beautiful, popular and educational environment. The…read moreMall is one of Central Park's most important landscapes and horticultural wonders. The Mall is a wide, straight path lined by rows of American elm trees. It was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux as a formal promenade and gathering space. Like many of my favorite areas in the Park, I enjoy strolling, sitting, people-watching, listening to music, contemplating monuments, and admiring trees. I was there recently and I can't wait for you to see my photos. It was a really enjoyable day in Central Park. When you visit the park be sure to set aside time for exploring the Mall and Literary Walk. Enjoy!

They also have a simple but good selection of wine. The service is good and it has that library vibe since it is so close to Columbia campus.

The churro pretzel was good but unfortunately that is the only thing we found to be good! We tried…read morethe Al pastor and shawarma tacos. The al pastor tacos were terrible and the shawarma ones may have been better if the meat wasn't old. The meat was very dried out and wasn't even hot. The personal pretzel and queso were okay at best but not something I'd ever buy again. Was so excited to find this place since it is fully vegan but I won't be returning.
