    Salad and Curry Box
    David K.

    Chaiwalla is a takeout stand offering an affordable vegetarian menu of Indian-inspired street food. The Salad Curry Box was built on a base of simple salad (lettuce, carrots, red cabbage) with chickpea curry, falafels, and onion bhajis (fritters made with onion coated in chickpea flour batter), and topped with tamarind chutney, mango chutney, yogurt, sweet chili sauce, and sev (chickpea flour noodles). The box came in a generous portion size and with many tasty components, but the spices in the curry were toned down, and the falafels and bhajis were dark and over-fried. Nevertheless, the service here was friendly, and everything came at a great value too!

    What a find. This is literally the smallest hole in the wall establishment that offers Indian street food. I adore indian food, so I was very happy to sample some of their offerings. I was not disappointed.

    * A delicious falafel wrap!

    Walking along the streets of Bath, my brother and I spied a long line out the door and didn't miss a beat to switch directions straight for the shop. There's only a bar to order and no place to sit down but there are benches around outside to sit on or walk along the street with food in hand because there's so much to see and shop around there. This shop is situated along the square so it feels like everyone has gathered there; multiple people came up to us and asked where we got our food. We shared a falafel wrap (vegetarian) and samosas (fried potato balls). One brimming pita pocket of food was enough to share between the two of us and the samosas became leftovers. It was so refreshing with the fresh and pickled vegetables in the wrap- honestly I wanted another one to carry back to the hotel with me...

    I had looked up this placed before I planned my travel. I tried the chai and samosa chat and it was awesome. Indian street food lovers will love this place. Definitely on the top list of foods to try in Bath if you love Indian snacks.

    This is my first Yelp review…read more The atmosphere at Tulsi is exceptional. The music is well-sourced, the cherry trees are tasteful and pleasant, and the historic Pulteney bridge location makes this a unique fusion of old and new. However, the service at this restaurant is terrible. I arrived at a time when the restaurant was relatively quiet, and yet the four-person wait staff seemed overwhelmed. I ordered a beer from the tap and a main dish with a side of naan bread. I waited over 30 minutes for my beer to arrive, as the wait staff forgot the order, and then brought the wrong drink to the table, and the last time the waiter who appeared in charge had to pour the drink and bring it over. While waiting, three different waiters asked to take my order, after I had already ordered and informed them of such. When the food arrived over an hour after I ordered, it was not as described in the menu, was cold, and was mediocre. I had to ask them to confirm that it was what I ordered. I asked for the bill from the same waiter who took my order and paid as I did not want to wait to leave after I finished my meal. It is worth noting here that the bread and appetizers they bring (almost unsolicited) at the beginning of the meal are not free and total approximately 5 pounds. After finishing my meal and leaving the restaurant, one of the waitresses chased me down and had the audacity to accuse me of not paying in the middle of the crowded street. Very embarrassing.

The restaurant is located on the second floor, and you have to walk up a flight of stairs. We came on a Friday night and there were a decent number of diners inside. No reservations were needed, although we were asked. The service by all staff was friendly, kind, and courteous! They have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. We shared family style and ordered Vegetable Korma, Saag Paneer, and Channa Masala. Also Sada Chawal and the Bread Basket. The veggie korma was one of the best I've had in my life. It was creamy, hearty, savory, and full of fresh vegetables. The channa masala I enjoyed but was a bit spicy for my taste buds. The rice is always a nice complement and the bread and warm and fluffy. Portions were good and we took the rest to go. Indian Temptation is a must-try in Bath if you like Indian food. Workers are lovely and the food is delicious. It gave us no room to move our adjacent arms, so we kind of sat perched on the edge of our seat eating sideways. Another strange thing was that the server would not look at me or and never addressed me once; he exclusively spoke to my partner. So, atmospherically and service wise, the experience was both unpleasant and uncomfortable. And the food? It was okay. I appreciate that they have vegan and gluten-free options clearly labeled on the menu. We weren't asked about spice levels, so everything was MUCH hotter than we might have personally liked. So much so, that most of what we ordered tasted the same; it didn't help that much of what we ordered ended up being fried too. The Pakoras, Gobi 65, and Mogo Chips were nearly indistinguishable from one another. The Tandoori Broccoli could have been delicious if it wasn't so soggy; the Tofu Chili could have been nice, if it wasn't so spice-forward. The Bengal Jhalmuri (puffed rice shallots, raw mango, coriander chutney, and fresh pomegranate) was my favorite because it felt so different from everything else we tried; light and refreshing, and the variety of textures were interesting too. If you love heat more than flavor, this might be the place for you. For us, there are other restaurants we feel more welcome - and are more excited by the food - at.

The cafe is a hole in the wall with communal seating and a few other tables inside and some outside. It's a bit packed inside but still quite charming with all the mismatched colorful decor. The service was sweet and efficient. Once seated, we were provided the menus and had our orders taken. The food came out fast and we paid at the front. I don't normally eat breakfast and got the Granola. It was fine--your typical yogurt, granola, and berries. It was tart, crunchy, and sweet--they provide a side of honey. I had half and gave the rest away because I wasn't hungry. Also ordered were the Bubble and Squeak and Fruit Pancakes. Oh my gosh, I had multiple bites of the Bubble and Squeak because it was so good! If I were hungrier I'd order this for myself. It's a delicious harmony of savory filling goodness. Loved the mashed potatoes and all the proteins. Highly recommend! Wild Cafe is an affordably delicious spot for all-day breakfast and brunch.
