I don't think I have ever been served this quick at a restaurant. They are busy and every member of their staff came around to every table to check on customers, including me. We visited here on Sunday night. It's a smaller restaurant: maybe fifteen tables/booths, and we got the last one. This place was hopping! We ordered margaritas which is where they shine. Every table had them and they had a sign offering margaritas by the gallon. My husband got the classic on the rocks and I got a frozen strawberry/guava one. I selfishly think mine was better but we both downed ours pretty quickly. The larges are HUGE! They come in those large rounded goblets, if you know the ones. Salsa and chips were good. Not mind blowing, but solid. The service was fabulous. Every server and the manager checked in on us more than once and I really got a homey feel from them all. They will not let you leave unhappy! Our food came out relatively quickly: my husband ordered a bean and beef burrito, my son ordered a bean burrito, and I ordered the steak fajitas. All were great (very authentic) and my husband said his green chili had a decent heat. I selfishly thought my fajitas were the best (they certainly came with the most food) and I couldn't make more than a small dent in them. Next time, we will definitely split an order. The food was decent quality, I had chicken enchiladas and they were good. However, you have to pay 4.00 extra for rice and beans. The salsa served with chips is this brown spicy salsa that is thin and not chunky. I didn't like it, but they don't have any alternatives. That brings me to the guacamole- I ordered it to go with the chips. The menu said the price is "market price" sure never heard of that!! Well no wonder- it was 8.50 for a tiny cup!! If they put that price on the menu no one would order it. Inside is ehhh- not updated and getting to the bathroom you have to walk down a dingy little hallway. I paid 40.00 for my meal and Diet Coke. The salsa was good - not too hot and had a little citrus note to it. I ordered the combo #4 (3 enchiladas - beef, cheese and chicken) w/Xmas style sauces. Husband ordered combo #5 (guacamole tostada, cheese enchilada w/ rice and beans). Both meals were delicious! Just the right amount of heat to the red chile and green chile sauces. Red chile is also spot on. Peppery and red! Just the right amount of heat but they'll ask you how you want it. Perfect balance of cheese, tortillas and sauce. Get it with rice and beans. They nailed both. Right amount of seasonings. Not sure how they do the beans but the recipe must be a family one. Everything is from scratch for sure. One can taste it. After reading so many positive reviews we decided to try Chakas for lunch. Service was excellent HOWEVER the food was just mediocre. And I mean mediocre. WHY do sooo many restaurants serve food that is not hot. Cheese not melted. Overall temp. Barely warm. As for flavor. Again, nothing special. We ordered chili relleno...both soft and crispy. Cheese is each one was different. Crispy had decent white cheese but not melted. The soft relleno had shredded yellow cheese, again not melted. Green chili was non-descript. NOT the first time we have gotten an incorrect order from here and they don't care to rectify it. I ordered to go and asked for the sauces and everything on the side of my entrees. I do this for several reasons; allergies, to avoid soggy food when I get it home and in case chili is too spicy we can use small amounts. I understand mistakes but when I call back and notify them, I shouldn't be treated like I'm lying and the only option to correct it (they weren't offering to do initially, only when I asked them to do so) be to drive back across town and get a re-make. A gift card or a credit for next time is more appropriate instead of inconveniencing your customer twice in one meal/experience. They also hung up on me after I waited on hold for a while and never came back to help. Food tastes fine- nothing special. Will be going to one of several other Mexican restaurants in the area. Quiet little spot!! Great little family run Mexican spot off the beaten path. Great food and excellent service. My wife and myself both ordered the #1 Tostada, Bean Burrito and Chile Relleno. All delicious and not to heavy very crispy relleno was delicious. My son ordered the three street tacos Carne asada and Adobada. Full of flavor and had to be good as my son actually ate it all. My youngest son got the Tostada and fries. We also got the Chili cheese fries with carne asada again great food. Service was great only issue I had but understandable for a smaller family run business was charges such as Salsa for the chips. I will definitely be back and we enjoyed everything. Prices have increased between fifty to eighty percent, 3.9% admin fee added to the bill, got the fajitas, only three small tortillas, had to order another batch and was charged for this. This place is close to my house so we have ordered takeout a few times and we finally got to go sit down for dinner recently. For starters the service here is the best. Everyone is so nice you can just tell they are kind people happy to be helping our customers. The food is always tasty. Some days are better than others because they tend to get really busy but I've never not had something here that I don't throughout enjoy. The only thing I don't recommend are the happy hour margaritas. They lacked alcohol flavor for me and tasted like straight up sugary mix but hey - no one is perfect.
