My daughter is a BSN student at Chamberlain University's Virginia campus. She's been enrolled for a year and is on the Dean's List. Recently, her account was put on financial hold. As soon as we learned about it, she did exactly what we were told to do. She secured a private student loan, and the lender sent the certification to Chamberlain on August 14, 2025. We were told funds would be applied within 3-5 business days. Today is August 26, and nothing has been posted. Because of this hold, she can't register for the next session starting next week. Chamberlain also told us she would be eligible for a $2,000 scholarship after completing eight sessions without interruption. If she can't register due to delays on the school's side, she will be disqualified. That would be unfair given that she followed every instruction promptly. We've tried to resolve this with Student Finance. We were promised a supervisor call within 24-48 hours, but no one called. When we asked to escalate, we were told that takes another 3-5 business days. She was also told to email onlinestudentfinance@chamberlain.edu for a PKA and sent that on August 18. She has not received any response. My daughter is working hard and doing well academically. Please clear the financial hold, apply the loan funds that were certified on August 14, allow her to register for the upcoming session, and ensure she remains eligible for the scholarship she was promised. The staff turnover is too high for the school to appropriately staff or secure clinical placements for all enrolled students for at least FOUR semesters (as of today). Entire cohorts are being separated due to staffing issues, which means your study groups, your carpools, your friends will be stripped away without notice because of the school's clinical unpreparedness, disorganization, and inability to retain staff or maintain working relationships with clinical sites. If you are having this experience, speak up. Staying silent helps no one. read more

I don't know guys... I was supposed to have an interview with my representative. She never showed up on the video chat.. but before that it took emailing her several times to even get a response out of her. After my information session in 2023 she took forever to get back to me so I decided not to go with this program. In 2024 I decided to give it one more try. Still poor communication skills. I'm glad she didn't attend the interview, I dodged a bullet by not going to school here. very weird, they tell you they don't accept C's for the science classes(if you are transferring) so if you received a C in chemistry you'll have to retake it at chamberlain. But if you retake it at chamberlain and receive a C grade they accept it (had a coworker that graduated from chamberlains BSN program so she told me) Didn't make much sense and it just shows they just want to take your money. My coworker said she regrets going to chamberlain, she said professors quit mid clinical and you're transferring with all your prerequisites (non nursing classes) but still having to pay 100k for the rest of the program (mind you in the information session they say the whole program including the non nursing classes is a total of about 80k) If you're looking to save money just go do the program at community college. You'll save tons of money and have a better experience. I'm not speaking about the Tyson's location but the institution as a whole. read more

I'm finally a nurse! Woohoo! Chamberlain College of Nursing was awesome. CCN absolutely prepared me for clinical sessions as well as passing the NCLEX. I finished my final class (Capstone) end of February, got my ATT code March 25th, took the NCLEX March 27th, and officially got my license Monday March 30th! Yay! It takes about 2-3 weeks to get your ATT code so be patient AND STUDY during all that down time! So when your code comes in you can register for the first available date! Just like I did! I read all the reviews about CCN and I get it. Everyone has the right to voice their own opinions BLAH BLAH BLAH CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK YA YA YA. First of all CCN is not perfect, just like everything else in life. If you know me then you know I try to get to know as many people as possible. So when I see other schools, wearing red, at hospitals you best believe I interrogate them about their programs. Based on my interrogations I have concluded that most of the programs in the area, including GMU and Marymount, are absolutely not perfect. I am really good friends with someone who finished her GMU program the same time as I did so we were constantly comparing experiences throughout. Our programs are really not that much different. They both had flaws but at the same time they both rocked! The professors were awesome but they absolutely did NOT baby you. It's sometimes difficult to get people on the phone but that's OK because I sometimes found that whenever I was ignored I solved my own problems. Unless your issue is about clinical compliance, it can probably wait till class. I never had a problem with the clinical compliance people answering you because they probably knew wars would be waged if they ignored clinical issues. OK for those of you who think that you will enter nursing school and see rainbows and sunshine you might have a insane wake-up call one day. I can't speak for everyone but nursing school, for me, was absolutely brutal. The hours were long, the courses were tough, the clinical sites had patients/nurses who disliked students, and the NCLEX style exams were written by crazy people. But I was always taught no matter what you're given in life you have to make the most of it. "Make lemonade!" I made a ton of lemonade in nursing school. I love how CCN forced me to adapt to every situation because no hospital, unit, or patient is perfect. Let's be real. No company is perfect either. I used to do sales for Verizon and AT&T (multi-billion dollar companies) and even they had their share of hiccups. So I knew coming into CCN I would have to work my butt off. I never got the highest grade in the class and earning that 76 exam average was usually a "photo finish" but I always showed up on time and I always had a great attitude. I had no time to complain about every little thing that wasn't even in my control and neither did my gangster cohort. A career in sales taught me that I can't control the rain, but I can definitely bring an umbrella. In closing, I LOVE YOU Chamberlain! You honestly changed my life! When other schools looked at my GPA from 2003, judged me, and said Meh, you said yes. America is all about 2nd chances and finding out what someone is made of! Thank you. I will be forever grateful. I'm very proud to say that May 4th I start my new life as an Inova ER nurse. Woohoo! Still hard to believe sometimes. Oh and it's ER nurse! Not ED nurse. As a man, I refuse to call myself an ED nurse. Sounds wrong to me. Similar to that one school on TV called UTI. Really? UTI? Added May 2016. Just word of advice to anyone attempting to go to this school. They lack of integrity and empathy and only really care about snagging your money for the entrance exam! I took the entrance exam twice and passed the second time and submitted everything requested but was denied enrollment into the program! I contacted the office and left a message, none of my calls were returned and the recruiter stopped replying! I was never informed why I could not enroll! Better off going to a community college and getting your BSN online! read more

Everything for this university is about money and MOST of the professors I encountered were extremely rude and inconsiderate. I don't know how you allow people to get lock out of their midterms when they started on time and YOUR lockdown browser froze and booted someone out. The lack of empathy is appalling, especially with it being an accelerated program. I also had a different professor in the height of COVID fail me because I had a doctors note proving I had a stomach virus, since I was consistently vomiting for over 24 hours and I missed her midterm. I provided proof and she still said I could not make up her exam. Her midterms/finals were over half the grade. I wouldn't waste your money or time here. The stress and anxiety isn't worth the horrible way you are treated. I will say though, Professor Jamil was wonderful and I learned so much from him in my A&P classes, but that's unfortunately the only positive thing I can say. I would give CCN Crystal City a 3.5 if there was the option, but I'll round up. First off, I am a non-traditional student. 30 year old single mother of 3, 9 year military veteran. I did not do anything medical while in the military. I had a bunch of credits to transfer in, but they were mostly humanities and histories. CCN took all they could and applied 27 credits. I had looked into every nursing school I could find in the traditional state school and private not for profit sense. Most had things like all pre-reqs needed to be completed, 3.5 GPA, hundreds of hours of volunteer time, to be accepted into the Nursing program. After 3 deployments, I was no where near a 3.5, and it would have taken almost 2 years of my GI Bill to complete the pre-reqs. Not to mention the 2+ year waiting list most schools have. I quickly saw that traditional college wasn't for me. Chamberlain works with Devry, so I was accepted in as a Sophomore and was able to complete maths and sciences along with lower level nursing courses. I have done both online and in person classes, and more often than not, communication with instructors is simple. There are a few bad eggs, but when aren't there? I am now a senior and have maintained a 3.8 GPA. The work is grueling and if you expect it to be anything less, you are wrong. I am now in the phase where I do clinical hours at hospitals. This is where they lose a star. Placement is ridiculous. Some students drive upwards of 2 hours one way, work a 12 hour shift then commute home. In metro DC traffic, this is no joke. However, I feel I get what I need from my time spent on site. My clinical instructor is a wonderful woman and knows her stuff. There is a high turnover rate of staff. But just about every instructor I've had has had an advanced degree, and has been a nurse well over 10 years. They are kind and willing to help any way they can. Also, there are check point exams along the way to make sure you are absorbing what you need. This gives a chance for remediation immediately instead of waiting til the end. All in all, CCN fit my needs perfectly. They may be expensive, but I'd rather pay than wait years on a waiting list. I did not know I wanted to be a nurse my whole life, so to change careers completely, this is my best fit. If you are in high school and have good grades, or can afford to do 2 years of pre-reqs before a 4 year degree program, by all means go that way. We all know what works best for us. read more

I just graduated with my BSN! -and I am still giving Chamberlain College of Nursing 5 stars :D This school gave me the opportunity to achieve such great things, to learn beyond what I thought I could accomplish, and to become a nurse. I achieved honors!!! The support from professors, and other fellow classmates was consistent and very important in my process. The clinical rotations were in different locations, and this was great because I was able to see the different healthcare systems that are in place at each hospital or clinic. I completed my program feeling like a different person. Chamberlain truly supports its students so much. I have had so much help to prepare for the NCLEX and to also know how to go through interviews ( I had my first interview and it went well!). I don't really have any previous clinical experience, but with what I learned at Chamberlain, I know that I have everything I need to be a successful nurse. I would highly recommend this school, again and again. If you want to be a nurse and you are passionate about it, consider Chamberlain as an open door to a bright future! read more

I just graduated 14 days ago from the second degree BSN program. As you can see from the star rating how I feel about my expereince. Overall, I graduated and about to take my NCLEX but the school is dsyfunctional. The professors/ clinical professors/ Sim Lab staff- they are by far the higlight of the program. They are commetant RN's who have decidated their skill to teaching new nurses. There is a very high turnover rate but overall my love of CCN is only here. There are exceptions here definetly but mostly great professors. The staff- the staff at chamberlain is largely incompetant. The college seems to run as if they never had a nursing class graduate before. examples to follow. an example- they state they have never heard of a 'letter of confirment' when its in their graduation packet. the admissions process- the staff is decent, responsive and kind. they seem to care about the students. i already have a bachelors degree from GWU and they fought me on transferring credits from GWU. They fought me about accepting my 4 credit GWU writing class witha 25 page class minimum to cover a DeVry university 1 or 2 credit clas. This is just one example of the for profit nature of the school. (they also fought a nutrition class and won over a history class) The Center for Academic Sucess- they try but largely fail in helping the students succeed. They attempt to put in place an alternative and supplemental educational process but end up making strict demands on scheduling and just end up making the process too difficult for the student. An example is of their misguided attempots is a supposed review of the cardiac system. We were scheduled to have an in depth pre- exit exam review of Cardio- instead be played cardiac jeopordy. After I complined to one of the profesors she commented that she offered to c\do a cardiac review but they opted for the game. If you expect efficiency and order with your college experience rethink your decision to go to CCN. read more

This place is fucking garbage. They only want your money and there's so many miscommunications with staff and students. I've registered for clinicals TWICE and they've moved me on-campus after I registered for a hospital. Not only that, but they moved me from daytime classes to weekends/evenings without my consent. Yet, when I asked about evening and weekends classes, they told me I needed to provide a reason and submit a case for reasons why I need to take evenings/weekend classes. I can't tell you how many times I've been inconvenienced because I've lost count. The school is on two floors in a business building and doesn't even have a proper institution. I practiced IV insertion on a fucked up mannequin arm and I had to re-use needles because there weren't any more supplies. You're better off going someplace else. They lied about flexibility and they charge so much money for each credit. There's a lack of resources when it comes to scholarships and they fucking suck. So many hoops to jump through just to get a hold of somebody. The staff turn-over rate is so high and I honestly get it. I'd hate to work here too. read more

Don't go there. School is awful and very unorganized. Administrative staff makes alot of mistakes which they don't apologize for. When you go complain to the dean or campus president, the whole scenario is turned against you. They're gonna start saying "you should have or shouldn't have.." This and that. Tuition is very expensive and goes up every year for better service or whatever which u won't see. The administrative staff is in one area but they have poor communication with each other. I missed a deadline to fix my class schedule because front desk refused to inform students that the adviser had already been fired. One of the teachers also told a student that she passed a class. After 2 semesters, another teacher told that student that she did not and had to go back. poor girl!! They have nice manikins but you'll only use them for about 10 times for the whole program. And most of the time they don't work properly. Scheduling is shitty. They have no regards for your work schedule. Alot of times you'll get your schedule too late to make arrangements. But they expect you to follow them.. At one time i got my clinical schedule 4 weeks late; the class semester/session are 8 weeks long. And when i ask for some help, the answer I got was "you need to figure this out yourself." Teachers are not consistent with the rules. They would curve the grade of some students and not for the others even though both students have a grade that can be curved. Overall, school is only good for students with rich parents and who doesn't need to go to work to pay for tuition. read more

The service and education you recieve is not worth it compared to other schools in the area. Do not be fooled by colorful advertisements and initial friendly interactions. Do not apply to this school. They mislead perspective students into believing many credits from their associates degree will be applied to their Bsn. However, once you are enrolled, you suddenly have to take several more classes then you were told by the recruiter. For example, I had to take algebra for my associates and was told by the recruiter it was accepted, but after my first quarter, I was told I have to take it again. The next semester they said I have to take an additional pre-requisite math class before I can take the allgebra.What? Mind you, this was all without s placement test and I HAD TAKEN COLLEGE ALGEBRA AT ANOTHER SCHOOL.What a rip off!They try to bilk money from you by making you take additional courses and lie about how many courses you need. read more

Everything looks good on the outside but once one starts to peal back the book and looks inside it's a completely different story. For one there is a price to pay when it comes to the cost of credits from a traditional college compared to CCN for profit motto. They tell you can be out in less than 3 years that is if you have no hick-ups and fail a class with a exam total being under a 76% for that course. If so you need to add a additional 16 weeks since this campus is small and they only teach certain classes in 16 week sessions so you have to wait. The worst thing and the part that CCN states that you can take classes online well only if the campus allows you too. That means your stuck with probably with that bad Professor again for that class. I doubt that the surveys at the end of each session brings any action from them on the evaluations from the students. But it is shocking that when students talk about certain professors, they always say "so sorry and good luck" If your looking for professor that sit behind a computer and reads off the slides for your learning then CCN is for you; otherwise save your travel expenses and get the degree online and then at least you know what your getting. Granted some of the professors are top notch but they are few and far between and it gets expensive weeding the good from the bad professors and the students are the ones that have to suffer with their lack of teaching and would just rather read from the slides. Which one has to wonder with some of these teachers being there for so long, how much material is just recycled from the previous sessions? Most of it I bet! This is what were paying for hence the online classes look more appealing but they have to be offered at the campus. Plus most of the time the online classes are just as bad from the Devry portion which is basically all of the non-nursing courses. I believe that most of the professor only look at when the assignments were posted to make sure that they were on time and that you met the required 3 posting for the week. Good luck thinking that you might get some help or study guides for the test or exams, not going to happen. But they give you 3 hours to take the exam. Some of the other reviews stated how dysfunctional that CCN seemed to be and I could not agree more with that observation. We were about to take our HESI exam in the afternoon which allowed not only CCN and Devry the time in getting 3 classrooms computers up and running on HESI site. One could of only hoped and when the examine was to begin at 3 most of the computers were having technical issues with software and not being to load in certain browsers which meant closing down and starting up and hopefully that would work. The professor in charge was running between classrooms trying to fix the problems and finally after over an half-hour they finally ready. Really, this is what were paying top dollar for! CAS is good as long as your able to think ahead and plan weeks in advance to schedule a time, but again with the course being only 8 weeks long, and exams usually coming every other week, theres little time to schedule time with them. Plus if you do your not sure that they know what their doing, I went in for a quick check on med-math problems and the one problem that I had them work on with me and asked to make sure it was correct to use a certain portion of the problem in my equation and was told "yes" well it ended up being the wrong answer. Which in the real world meant that the wrong dose would of been given to the patient. And this is coming from the people that work at CAS. Doesn't leave me with much confidence in the staff at CAS or CCN. In closing some of the faculty is top notch and are probably great nurses, some are probably great at their nursing job but suck as teachers, Just hope that you pick wisely if you decide to enroll at CCN. read more
