If you are craving island eating, come to "Chamorro Grill" and get your fix of delicious island food . I used to live in Guam and loved the island's food, beaches, and relaxing vibe . So, I heard about this place when I attended a social get together this past Friday. We had a party and someone brought food from here . So, I asked where she got the food from and she said here so naturally I had to go! Today, was the day for me to try it. This place is casual and decorated with island signage and art work to resemble the island vibes. I happened to try the pancit and it was so good! They have so many options on the menu, but I wanted pancit. You can get plain pancit or add a protein to it. I added grilled chicken and told the lady to please add some red sweet and spicy sauce to my meal on the side too. I waited about five minutes, and they already called my name and the girl had it on a tray with the food handed to me. I sat down and enjoyed my food . They give you so much food I only ate half because I was already full. I took the rest home. The pancit was seasoned perfectly, and the BBQ chicken was tender and delicious. There were sliced lemons also to squeeze on the pancit and chicken to add more of a citrus flavor and oh boy was it good. I was having flashbacks of when I used to live in Guam as a little girl. The food was flavorful, service was friendly, but the only issue I experienced was the parking lot. It's in a mini mall with the drive-through coffee place "Cuppa Cuppa" that is so popular and there are always lines to get there and the way this place is situated on the corner makes it hard to park. I am SOOO SAD. Can someone tell me if they are under new management. I have been coming here over 15 years. I spent over $60 + tip (ordered in the restaurant to go) the photos you see on Yelp USE to be the portions you got. They have cut their portions by more than half. I took photos with my hand on top so you can see how small the portions are now. The pancit and chicken Kelaguan use to be side by side. Now they put the chicken on top of the pancit because it's ALLLL pancit. The chicken was maybe a 1/2 cup spread out on top to look like a lot. The side of Mac salad came in a condiment container something you would get ketchup or ranch in. Super small maybe 2 bites. I ordered a large red rice and they could t even fill the container all the way. Normally when I would order the same stuff it would feed my family of 5. I ended up having to go buy more food else where because this was so little of portions. OVER $60. This is so upsetting. Now I have to find a new Chamorro restaurant. read more

Decent because it's close to me but definitely not anywhere close to the best I've had. Everything needs more flavor. It was all pretty flat. BBQ chicken meat was good but needed a sauce of some sort. Pancit ok. Rice was kind of soggy. Lumpia best part. Mac salad was awful. It seemed like it was in ice or something and the ice melted and made the mac salad watery. Service was great. Everyone was very nice there. Plenty of seating. Smaller, busy parking lot. I've never ordered/eaten here. This review is just for the food ordered as a vendor at the Guam fest. It's pretty pricey and small portions. I ordered 2 plates: rib/chicken with added kelaguen and the bbq chicken plate. The bbq chicken was pretty good and flavorful. Their rib has a nice char but not burnt. Their cucumber salad was very refreshing. Their kelaguen just wasn't hitting. It wasn't bad but I've had better. Would like to try ordering directly from the restaurant and giving it another try since I don't want to base my review solely on a food festival since I know those can be more chaotic and you're not in the comfort of a kitchen. read more

Chamorro grill is a great barbecue spot with great meats and great people! There's seating in the restaurant and you go up to the counter to order and find a table. The menu has a lot of options but I went with the short ribs and pork ribs with red rice and Mac salad. The Mac salad was pretty standard, worked well with the barbecued meats. The red rice was on the wetter side, and lightly flavored to pair well with the meats as well! Highly recommend getting over regular rice. The pork ribs were good - not fall off the bone, but also had some bite to it which textually worked well! It also came with a sweet soy type sauce that packed a massive flavor punch! Very good!! BUYER BEWARE - The Menu hung up in their window displays prices that are lower than what they charge you. On 1/12/26 Matt rung us up and we noticed that the prices were different than the menu we looked at outside through their window. When we brought it to his attention, his said no worries but he didn't know how to change the system to adjust the prices so he called for help. When the lady from the kitchen came out (didn't catch her name, but she was an older brunette) she was SO incredibly rude and condescending saying that they didn't have to honor the prices in their menu and they have a new menu on order. When I mentioned that I was pretty confident they should have to honor the prices, she dismissed it entirely and scoffed saying that the "Food and Beverage Department already okayed it." What a joke. I really wanted to try the food here during our visit to San Diego, but this wasn't near any of our other stops so I thought we wouldn't get to try it. But DoorDash to the rescue! We ordered the chicken kelaguen musubi and the loco moco plate. Everything was packaged so nicely, and they were very generous with the vinegar sauce which was delicious with the musubi! The red rice was cooked to perfection. The musubi is hefty too, and you get two per order. If you eat both it's basically a full meal! The loco moco had plenty of gravy and the meat was not dry at all. Even the eggs were still runny which can typically come overcooked when you're ordering delivery! I liked that you could pick a side with your loco moco, but just wish I could've tried both the macaroni salad and cucumbers. I am glad we chose the cucumbers though because it added a nice freshness in between bites of the heavy musubi and loco moco. Grabbed lunch here with a friend and found parking out front. Place was quiet and empty on a Thursday afternoon but a few people coming in for take out. The lady taking our order was very sweet. I ordered the Lechon Kawali plate which came with two scoops of rice and a side (Macaroni Salad). The lechon was crispy and you get a good amount of it. The dip was slightly sweet and wasn't too bad but I'm a spicy person so I tried their special bottled sauce. Couldn't really taste too much despite the sauce having multiple ingredients but still better than no sauce. The macaroni salad was decent, not as flavorful as I wanted it to be but it wasn't dry. They also had water and water cups on a table if you didn't purchase a drink. Overall, the whole experience was not too bad. I would like to go back for the Lechon again. She asked me "Did you eat them right away" and I said no I couldn't eat them! They were burnt and more dry than jerky." I was so annoyed that she had to tell me They now cut their ribs in half and she wanted me to look inside the box. Thinking since she was replacing a bad meal she wouldn't replace it with another one. NOPE! Ribs were ridiculous. Must have been sitting alll day or even from yesterday. If I hadn't been chatting up a young woman at a physicians office, I would not have known about this cute cafe. Located at the corner of Mission Gorge Road and Zion Avenue, it sits in a retail center. The menu is a variety of Guamanian, Hawaiian and Philipino cuisines, so, crazy good choices here! The BBQ lays on a bed of chopped, green cabbage, the better to soak up a little sauce. Tossed green salad: European style fresh lettuce mix, cucumbers and a delicious, slightly sweet dressing. I absolutely would order Chamorro Grill's BBQ for any occasion-caterung available. I am not a big starch eater, however the starchy offerings of the 3 cuisines are normally best in class. Today, all three failed. Red rice: A very short grain rice, red due to undetectable seasonings. Bland and not worth the calories. Pancit: Generally a hit at any party, Chamorro 's pancit today consisted of 4 flavors- vermicelli, oil, salt, and green onion. Fried shrimp:Undercooked, resembling frozen breaded varieties found in the freezer section of your local grocery store. I went through a phase were I wanted Chamorro Cuisine for about 6 months. There's not much in San Diego so I frequent this place a lot. My go to dish is the Chicken Kelaguen and the Kadun Pika. Their Chicken Kelaugen is the perfect amount of citrus and spice. It is a cold / room temperature type of dish. Most people get surprised the first time they eat this dish expecting it to be hot in terms of temperature. I do prefer it to be on the spicy side. Kadun Pika is such a delight. No it's not a curry dish but it looks like one as it does have coconut milk and tumeric. This is by far my favorite dish to get. Just the flavor profile makes itself unique. I do prefer this dish at Chamorro Grill mainly because it's spicy like it should be whereas other places their kadun pika it's a bit sweet. Their mixed combo plates are a pretty good deal. I usually just get the combos with Red Rice and Pancit. The service has always been friendly and fast, so I appreciate that. read more

I remember it being on point when they first opened up so I'm not sure if they have a new cook. The workers were really nice and a good amount of seating inside. The food here is made fresh to order and comes up fairly quickly. I loved the lechon kawali with white rice, the fried teriyaki chicken was a flavorful treat, and there was plenty of food to make 2 additional meals. Matt was friendly and easy to talk with and had good knowledge of the restaurant and the menu items. He told me that the banana lumpia I ordered for dessert was made by the owner's family and was served with chocolate sauce. Delicious! Here was our experience AMBIANCE: Parking: Plaza parking. It can get pretty packed so come early, at an unconventional time, or just prepare to pick up. Seating: Inside and shaded outdoor seating. Generally good for groups of 4. It Vibes: You're in the outer ends of Mission Valley, you're not too far away from the stadium or Fashion Valley mall. This place itself is located in a small plaza with a lot of local businesses. You're welcomed with soothing island R&B jams and simple art and customs of Chamorran culture from paintings to Pasifika God Totems. It's a clean and simple place with good people. FOOD: Mixed Combo (2 scoops of rice, 2 types of meat, and a side) (Recommend) ($18~) Pork Ribs were delicious, sweet, and well-charred. The beef slices were juicy and flavorful. Their mac salad was creamy and savory but also had a mild sweet cinnamon kick to it. The achote/annatto seeds made the rice vibrant and flavorful. Add a bit more of that finadene (soy sauce) sauce for more of an umami taste. Portuguese Sausage Musubi (Recommend) This actually threw me off a bit since I'm used to spam but this was great! Well packaged with great savory and mildly spicy flavors. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Solid. My order was ready in a timely manner. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Solid choices, reasonable prices, ono grindz, and a pleasant experience. A great mix of Chamorro, Hawaiian, and Filipino cuisines.
