    Chicken dinner all white

Whenever I have a chicken craving, this is my go to place! Always consistent, hot and tasty chicken. The fries are just standard and nothing to write home about but the chicken makes up for it. The coleslaw is pretty good too. It was supposed to come with custard but it seem to have been forgotten this trip and my prior trip as well. But, got my chicken fix and I'm good for a while.

So here's my take on the new owners. It's definitely not the same Champion Chicken that once was. They've changed the menu to be more like their sister store NYPD pizza on North Avenue. There's a little bit of something for everyone. They have appetizers, burgers, pizza, sandwiches and wraps along with salads and soups. I decided just to pop in for some takeout. I went with the Italian sandwich because the guy at the register said it was one of his favorites. One thing he stated that he liked about it was that it came with a side of dipping sauce Aka Au jus. Well when I got home there was barely any au jus in the container to dip the sandwich in which was very unfortunate. He also said that they Giardiniera on it and there was barely any whatsoever. The beef tasted fine and I got American cheese on it but the bread was a little on the greasy side. The french fries weren't bad. I also ordered some eggroll wrapped mozzarella sticks which were quite delicious. I did really like the marinara sauce that came with it. I will probably give them a try again in the future. Maybe order a pizza and see how that is.

Champion Chicken is a solid, neighborhood place to have fried ("broasted") chicken dinner. It is a unique, home-made style of fried chicken, IMO. Not greasy. Good sized pieces. I've never had a bad meal here. The location has a large, carry-out area in the front of the restaurant, separate from the dining room. The dining room looks like an old style, woodsy/cabin like place from the '60's and it probably hasn't been remodeled since then, but it is clean and has plenty of booths to sit in. They also have counter seating. For side dishes, there plenty of choices including but not limited to salads, cole slaw, baked potato, mashed potato and two different styles of potato salad. They don't have a dedicated cocktail bar to sit at, but they do have full liquor service, a plus! Any time I've been here, I've had good, efficient and friendly service from the wait staff. The location has quite a few parking spaces in their private lot, and open, un-metered street parking in front.

Chicken fingers and fries. Bbq wasn't included like the menu said.

Don't waste your time. Showed up and the dude wasn't even looking at the register. Chatting with the cook. Had to shout to get his attention after 5 minutes waiting to order. The wait for chicken tenders and fries was like 20 minutes with only one other customer in line. We saw someone open some packaging with their teeth after not being able to get it open with a knife. The food itself was hot but nothing at all special. $17 for two dinners of chicken tenders and fries (no drink). We should have just gone to McDonald's....

Psst.....*whisper* My brother in-law suggested Champion Chicken today for lunch, he lives down the street. It is one of Milwaukee's best hidden chicken treasures. The locals know it, and share this info by word of mouth. They are low tech simpletons and blue hairs j/k. They get the news the old fashioned way by newspaper, and they like it that way. Internet, E-mail? Eh! Whats that? Plenty of beers on draft, spotted cow included. Any homemade Soups and chicken would have been my first choice at champion chicken but this Friday we were going to try champion fish. I had the fish dinner, 3 nice sized pieces of battered fish along with hot tasty fries, coleslaw and roll. I'm not usually a fan of creamy coleslaw but I was surprised since this was crisp fresh and not overly creamy with good flavor. Now the baked fish was a little smaller and the cheeseburger looked good as well. Service was good. Not to busy so I felt like yelping. Since they only had two reviews? I think my cover has been compromised... I took a photo *sneaky laugh* I got to go.... Nothing to see here...move along... Bye.

I guess I shouldn't have been surprised at how good the chicken is, the right amount of crispy without being dry.

We just wanted a drink and a quick bite to eat and being during a baseball game, lots of places in the area were busy. There was a good crowd there watching the game as well. It's an interesting setup, reminds me almost of a living room (with dining tables) and then the small bar area is to the side. To order food, you do it through two wall kiosks which I like because you can look at options and not feel rushed unless there's a line. Outside they have tables and a tv as well. I choose a veggie sandwich which had a good kick to it! The smaller size was good enough for me. It was a bit confusing how to get your food, from what we understood, you have to go through a door to get to the kitchen window (bathrooms are that way too) but no one calls your order number or anything. I'd suggest an improvement on that way you know your food is ready or maybe we missed something. Overall, I would return and would like to try other items on the menu!

Yes, I know these are Karaage but they are very similar. I usually get the boneless wings just because I am weird and do not like having sticky fingers when I am eating, so these I can eat with a fork. The crispiness is always spot-on and I love that they give you just enough sauce to give everything a good coat and flavor but not too much that the chicken is drowning. I also really love the rice cakes that they add into the tenders and wings, it's like a nice little chewy treat to go with everything. Their fries are a LOT of fries! My wife and I have learned we can share one order of them. They have a bunch of varieties of seasonings you can add to the fries but I tend to get mine plain and just eat it with ketchup. This was a 4-piece half chicken dinner with coleslaw, fries and Italian bread. It was a lot of food especially for the price. The chicken was juicy and the batter was nicely salty. The fries were the crinkle variety--nothing special on their own but a nice potato-ey complement to the chicken. The cole slaw was solid--a little sweet and not too mayonnaise heavy.
