Well. Ive been there many times for different services. I've gotten my hair cut, highlighted, a…read morefacial, nails and a special scalp conditioning. Now, I have to say we go there knowing these are students who are still learning. That's why it's cheap. I've had a couple good experiences but, mostly not up to par. Oh, I forgot I also had my makeup done for my daughter's wedding. That was a disaster! The girl made me look like a drag queen and it took her forever to do! When I got in the car I wiped as much as I could off and fixed it the best I could. My eyebrows were SO thick! The eye liner very bold and heavy. Another one of the girls cut my hair and styled it. She did a fantastic job. When I had my nails done, right when I got home I noticed the polish was pealing off on the nail. I just picked it all off. The facial, not great. I'm not real picky about color, so when they do my highlights I just except it isn't going to be like going to a high scale salon. The last hair cut I had there was horrible! After showing the girl some examples of the cut I wanted she seemed very nervous. Basically I just wanted the bottom trimmed and my head layered. She cut straight across at the bottom of my hair about 2 inches up from the ends not blending it. Then she was done. I started to say no I wanted it layered all over but she seemed so frazzled that I decided I didn't want her touching the rest of my hair. When you do go there, plan on being there for hours! It takes them super long as opposed to going to a salon. Everytime I've been there for a hair service the teacher has to come check the cut or color when it's finished. However, that last hair cut I got the girl just took the smock off and said I could pay. I don't think she wanted the teacher to see the end product. And I had a black outfit on and there was SO much hair all over it. She didn't even apologize. One more thing I've noticed is that when you go to a salon the hairdresser will make small conversation or ask you questions about your hair. How you like it styled and so fourth. If you want them to talk to you, don't expect that to happen. They don't talk very much. So, the hospitality should be taught as something you should try to do. I always give tips no matter the service. After all as I said before, these are students trying to learn. But if you don't want to be practiced on maybe just pay extra and go to a professional.

I used to get my hair cut at an Aveda campus in Florida and loved seeing students! I didn't select a preferred student ahead of time, which is good because I got switched around last minute. I'm so glad I ended up in Allison M's chair because she worked absolute MAGIC on my hair!!! I went bold and opted for a full highlight, haircut, blowout, and curls. I wasn't sure about what tones I liked or how exactly I wanted my hair cut, but Allison and her teacher were amazing at suggesting what would look good with my hair type and base color. I showed them pictures of highlights I liked and things I didn't like about my previous color/highlights. Full highlights are a long process, so bring snacks and a good attitude. I had a blast talking to Allison all day. The other students were so kind to chip in and help with things when needed and were fun to talk to as well. You cannot beat the price of the services here ($5 haircuts??? $65 full highlights???) but PLEASE remember to tip these students as you would anywhere else.

Just like the last cosmetology school I went to, make sure you have at least an hour to get a hair cut and dry- there will be NO rushing here since all major cuts and decisions need to be cleared with the trainers. This place is a little rough around the edges (cheap decor, a little gossipy...) but the cut and assistance of the master stylist was good. And again, $6 haircut and blow dry? Can't beat it with a stick. My hairdresser student Vanessa took her time, talked to me about what I was trying to do in the future with my hair and was chatty- but not overly so. The only thing that's a little bizarre to watch is that the students not working on human clients are busy completing scenarios on their dummy heads at their stations. Imagine a room full of 15 hair stylists all working on mannequin heads...and you're the only human. Kinda strange. But- it's a beauty school, that's what they're supposed to be doing- hair! Most important thing to know about the place- they ONLY take cash. After labor and deliver (I'm 37 weeks pregger with #Dos) perhaps I'll go back for another cut and color.
