Delicious! Respectful staff! Didn't wait too long. Fresh food made well! Great sides with good flavor! We ordered a variety of to get a feel and the crisp levels of the chicken was so crispy but soft and juicy meat! The fries were puffy and crispy with good seasoning! The kids ordered squid and enjoyed it but a bit rubbery for me. We took a lots home and left stuffed. We will def come back, but a lot of fried options so def not for a weak tummy. The gimbap with cream cheese was so smooth! We would love to come back to order to go to try more flavors.
Me and my friend were craving kimbap. We saw this place on social media and wanted to try it out! Definitely didn't disappoint. The portions are really big and good enough to share. The ddubokki was a perfect spice level & the chicken tenders was nice and crunchy ! My favorite from what we ordered. The kimbap was okay. I would definitely come back for the chicken tenders ! Overall service was quick and easy & the ambience was clean and spacious.
Our group liked their sweet garlic wings best. The service and wait staff are great. This sounds unusual, but their water is incredible. For fun, I used a portable meter to check "total dissolved solids." I was so shocked at the reading that I did it again to make sure. This proves to me just how much they value their customers. Thank you to their restaurant management for clean, filtered water! Grilled beef kimbap - good ratio of meat to veggies to rice, I love how there isn't too much rice. highly recommend if you like bulgogi, it's a well balanced meal by itself. 8 wings w sweet garlic - highly recommend their garlic crunch style, the batter is super light and crispy, portions are HUGE! very filling. Staff friendly and there is a bit of a wait for food to come bc they make everything fresh. Very cozy restaurant. Parking free and easy.
We showed up at Chan Chan looking for a light bite before a Friendsgiving dinner and completely failed. Our waiter, Jay, tried to warn us that we were ordering "enough food for 5 people," but everything sounded too good, and we figured leftovers are basically future gifts to ourselves. So we went for it. The first win: the Sapporo. It came out so cold it literally had an iceberg floating in it. Unreal. I immediately grabbed one for myself because you don't let beer like that pass you by. Food-wise, we went in: the Chan Chan kimbap, sweet garlic wings, spam and kimchi fried rice, and the chicken bites tossed in their signature sauce. All excellent. My only complaint is the sauces leaned a little sweet, which kind of stepped on some of the deeper flavors. Not a dealbreaker, just something I noticed. Overall, though, fantastic meal, incredibly cold beer, and now our fridge is stocked with leftovers that are going to make future us very happy.
Line at ROL and Sup were at 1hr+ whilst we were seated immediately here and it was worth. Been here a handful of times over the past few years or so, and this place does not disappoint for me and my SO when it comes to their korean fried chicken and tteokbokki. This time got the: - Chan Chan Bites (sauce on the side) $24: the batter is so light, crispy, and not oily! Even if we're only able to come eat here every once and awhile, their chicken is consistently yummy. The chicken is lean too and the sauce is tasty, tho I think I would opt for a spicier/garlicky flavor next time (chan chan was too soy saucey for me) - Spicy Kimchi Garlic Rice Cake $21: had a nice kick, and full of flavor. Couldn't really differentiate this from the original, so i'd prob just stick to the OG next time Admittedly, it's a bit pricey, but portions are large. SO and I ended up having leftover chicken to take home.
The food is absolutely delicious. My favorite thing was the chicken Chan Chan bites. They were drizzled with the sweet sauce and topped with chopped up jalapeños. The Chan Chan kimbap was delicious. I could eat it everyday. The service is not great. You'll have to exercise patience if you need to ask for anything else.
My daughter found this place mainly for the kimbap. I've had this place bookmarked for the longest time. We were there before 6pm and still had to wait a little but they utilized a waitlist so it wasn't too bad. We ordered the spam kimbap and fried chicken with soy garlic sauce on the side. I was expecting the sauce to be black and imagine my surprise to see it's a white cream sauce instead. It was delicious! Even my daughter who generally doesn't like her food to saucy enjoy the soy garlic sauce to enhance her fried chicken. We definitely enjoyed our dinner and look forward to coming back.
I came here with friends for a high school reunion! Service was so kind, immediate, and direct. We came on a Sunday morning, around 11 am just when the restaurant opened. There aren't many people around this time, so if you are looking for a place to grab brunch - this place is wonderful! For a party of four we ordered the Bunsik Combo: Grilled Beef Kimbap, spicy beef noodles, and rose pasta It satisfied the taste palates reflecting the spectrum of those who do not like spice and those who did. The food was savory and fresh. There were pickled radishes and kimchi to accompany the main dishes. The size of the kimbaps were generous compared to the ones you would get from a Korean convenience store or supermarket. The spicy beef noodles was not greasy and instead warm to the soul. I think there was a good balance of noodles, meat, and vegetables that I really appreciated. I'm so much more used to there being too much noodles - as much as I like noodles, it is not what I would pay for compared to the balance of flavors. The rose pasta was topped with corn that hugged my taste palates. Creamy and delicious - reminding me of Alfredo pasta with a lingering touch of Korean tteobokki. The small details that enhanced our time here - the garnishes, the glass cups for the water, and the care provided by the staff. We did not feel rushed at all, and it was such a blessing to just dine with friends here! Thank you all so much.
Chan Chan is casual but clean, and "the spot" without being too loud. The environment is comfortable and perfect for casual groups and dates as well; it's a place where you can hear conversations easily but still feel a little that comfortable distance from other tables. The playlist and lighting hit a cozy middle ground, as it feels warm and just very "vibey" without being too empty or fighting for space. They have those lamps on each table that really brings the vibes up a notch, too. Service was great! Although they appeared short-staffed, they really made sure to go around to each table and accommodate all the diners. The staff greeted us warmly, checked in often, and offered thoughtful recommendations. Parking is free since it's within a plaza, but during busy times, it might get packed. However, I'm sure you can find a spot, if you don't mind walking a bit. As for food, we orderd both the Rosé tteokbokki with rice ddeok and the original fried chicken wings. This tteokbokki was a perfect balance between creamy and savory, especially with their bits of sausage and bacon in the mix. The sauce was creamy with a faint sweetness and a savory tang that coated the rice cakes perfectly. The rice ddeok were pillowy and chewy, soaking up the sauce so that each bite had a lingering spiciness that wasn't too overpowering. It felt both nostalgic and new. As for the fried chicken, it was definitely something unique. Each piece arrived with a golden, crisp batter that burst with flavor as you bit into it. It had an airy crunch without much greasy, and the inside was a tender, juicy meat. The sauce had whispers of garlic and pepper, and a hint of sweetness that we asked for on the side. It was the perfect complement to the juicy chicken. I would love to come back to try the other dishes. A++

We had been on the Yelp wait list for a neighboring restaurant, but when they were unable to sit us due to a malfunctioning burner we decided to go to Chan Chan instead. Even though Edward was busy waiting on 3 tables when we walked in, we were able to be seated right away, given a QR code to scan for the menu, and brought a carafe of water. Edward returned shortly to take our order of a Lunch Bansang of white seafood noodle with fresh noodles, small Chan Chan tenders with spicy sweet soy sauce on the side, half and half of the Spam Kimbap and spicy fish kimbap, and a kimchi and Spam fried rice. We had ordered at 1:28 PM and the food came out at 1:40 PM. Daughter had ordered so much food that Edward had to give us another table. The lunch special is a very good deal. It comes with Chan Chan Kimbap and assorted fried basket. In the white seafood noodle are clams, mussels, squid, 2 shrimps, onion, and bean sprouts. We also made a takeout order of cream pasta with chicken which Edward brought to our table. Edward was also our cashier. On his own, he was handling the whole front of the restaurant and was doing well. He was polite and I felt like an honored guest. We had a great lunch to fuel us for work. This is located in the shopping center where Mitsuwa is. Parking is plenty, but depending on the time you go you might have to circle around to find a space. This is our late night go-to place. They give you an array of banchan. My kids favorite and a must order is their fried chicken wings/strips. We usually order their combo, it includes an order of the chicken, a type of soup, tteok-bokki (texture is perfectly done) and a choice of Kimball. Love all the food we have tried here. read more

This place is always a solid choice. Friday night and it was pretty quiet. They took last calls for food orders around 9:30-9:40ish. Food was solid, service was good. Never had an issue here. Love the food, open late, can't go wrong with this place for Korean style street food. read more

I've always been a fan of chan chan! love their chicken tenders and kimbap. i heard they had new menu items and a newly decorated interior so i had to come back again! what i ordered: * garlic crunch wings (NEW): with sweet garlic and spicy soy * mixed deep fried goods (NEW): rice cake, squid, fried, dumpling, seaweed roll, etc * sweet pork kimbap i rlly like their new interior, definitely more aesthetic than before! the garlic crunch style wings are super crispy and worth a try read more

In Korean, the word "bunsik" (분식) is an umbrella term for Korean comfort food--think all your favorites from tteokbokki to Korean fried chicken. Chan Chan is one of our go-to spots for bunsik in Orange County for their cozy atmosphere and insanely good food + big portions! We ordered their retro rice came, which is a hot, bubbling tteokbokki stew cooked right in front of you. It is filled to the brim with two types of noodles, fishcake, ricecake, and dumplings. Also, the kimchi spam fried rice was SUPER flavorful--we always get this! Lastly, the fried chicken here simply can't be skipped. They do a garlic crunch for their wings, which adds a nice crispy and tasty touch. Overall, 10/10 experience and would highly recommend for groups of all sizes! read more
Did a delivery order so unfortunately we didn't get to see the restaurant. Decorations look great so planning to visit at some point. Got an order of the spicy rice cakes with wide glass noodles, egg, fish cakes, and level 1 spicy. Good textures on it and it's quite spicy for a level 1, would consider it At least a medium at most restaurants. We also got the kimchi and spam fried rice which was a good size portion. The kimchi is pretty mild, but there is a bit of a kick for anyone sensitive to spice. We also got the rose noodles with seafood. Standard rose sauce and was interesting to have on western noodles. The plain fries are pretty unremarkable. Lightly coated and cooked properly. Finally, got the fried rice cakes with sweet sauce. The sauce was more flavorful and saltier than I expected, but was a tasty treat. Hard to fully rate a restaurant based on a delivery order, but was happy with everything. Prices do seem a little high for Korean street foods, but not unreasonably high for south OC Korean food Was a big fan of the Chan Chan kimbap. Flavorful, colorful, and fun to eat. read more
Chan Chan Food House is known for their big portions of Korean comfort food. During lunchtime, they have $17 lunch bansang - main dish and an assortment of side dishes. It's a lot of food and probably could be shared between two people with smaller appetites. I eat a lot, so I ate it all. We tried two "Must Try" items - the spicy bibim pasta (which was not that spicy) and the white beef noodle (the soup was comforting). The pasta came with fish cake soup, kimbap and some veggie sides. The noodles came with kimbap, assorted fried items and veggies. My fave was the kimbap. Next time, I'll have to come with more people and try their combos, which look HUGE. read more

Chan Chan Food House is a Korean restaurant serving up trendy and delicious Korean street foods. It's located in a plaza with plenty of convenient parking. There's plenty of tables inside for large and smaller parties. For those not dining in, there's a kiosk to order to-go that's right by the entrance. They sell kimbap, fried rice, fried items (chicken, dumplings, seafood), tteokbbokki, noodles and soups, and even side dishes Their combos seem to be very popular for groups. I tried the beef kimbap, garlic and soy fried chicken, and spicy tteokbbokki. It was all super delicious (not the healthiest). The fried chicken is fried to perfection but is tasteless without the sauce. The portions were huge for the combo. I suggest sharing that amongst 4 people, especially with a large fried chicken upgrade. To cut the heaviness of the other dishes, I was grateful they provided refreshing side dishes of cabbage, radish, cucumber, and kimchi. Beware. The restrooms were filled with mosquitos. read more
This review is for the new lunch specials and the wings. Food is solid, plentiful, and simply delicious. I recently went to try the lunch special, at $17.99 each and it so much food. TBH, unless you have a big appetite like me, there is probably enough food to share for two people, per order. The chicken were crisp on the outside and moister, tender on the inside. The soup was refreshing, everything we need on a chilly day or if you just want to sooth the stomach. The Kimbap was fresh and filling. Definitely recommend for lunch if you're really hungry. Orders the Chan Chan chicken on another occasion and it was on point. Crispy and flavorful. I haven't tried any of the other flavors but if they're as good as their house flavor, I will also be going back for seconds... and thirds. Located in the Heritage plaza on Walnut and Culver. This is one of the few places I always come back to. I remember getting loads of takeout from Chan Chan during covid, or if it was just a treat myself day, or had a bad day at work. Their Korean comfort food like Korean fried chicken and kimbap is basically an Irvine staple, with this year marking 10 years they've been open, and their inside dining just got a long overdue remodel. You've gotta try some of their new items like cheesy pork belly with shishito peppers and the GIANT basket of fried goodies. There's onion rings, fried squid, seaweed dumplings, and more in it. And this is where you'll find the best Korean fried chicken in the GAME. Super crunchy batter, sauces are to d!e for, and MEATY pieces of chicken. And you can't forget about the tteokbokki or soondae which is rice sausage. I got the rose flavor this time and it was perfectly creamy with a tiny bit of spice. And I always look forward to this Korean dessert. It's called sikhye, and it's a sweet rice drink in slush form. SO refreshing and addicting. Thanks for reading! ^-^ read more

We got the Chan chan kimbap rice roll and the Chan Chan (sweet soy) fried chicken. It also came with side dishes and radishes! The Chan Chan kimbap was delicious and looked so cute with the vegetables and eggs poking out of the seaweed. The fried chicken was crispy even though it was drenched in sauce! It had so much flavor. It was both salty and sweet. Great place to go if you're craving Korean food! Pretty spacious and we were immediately seated at dinner time on the weekday. read more
Food here is always consistent and portions are huge! We decided to go with the combo (Spicy Rice Cakes and Chan Chan Tenders (small size 1lb) for three and there was more than enough food - we had to take half of it to go. Chan Chan Tenders (4/5) - The sweet soy flavor was definitely there but eventually the chicken got a little too soggy so I would definitely get the sauce on the side next time. Other than that it was fried fresh to order and all the pieces were extremely tender. Spicy Rice Cake (4/5) - There was a good amount of rice cakes in the dish which was nice to see and included a decent amount of rice cakes and cabbage as well. Flavor wise it wasn't lacking anything but was just a little watery. Would get again though! Overall service was extremely quick and they even gave us extra napkins without us asking. The store was kept really clean as well, including the restroom. Although we came later in the night (close to closing), they still let us sit and order which I really appreciated. read more

Always go for their fried chicken with sweet garlic and their squid fried rice. These two are the top tier items at Chan Chan that I always add to my order. For a large order for fried chicken, you can select up to two sauces, and the sauces will be served on the side instead. This is perfect if you want different flavors and I typically choose the chan chan sauce as the second. The level 1 chan chan sauce has very little to no spice so I'd pick level 2 next time. 5 Stars for the Grilled Beef Kimbap!!! Located in the Daiso/Mitsuwa shopping center in Irvine, there's plenty of easy parking. When you walk in, there's a kiosk if you want to order to go. If not, you can dine in with table service. It's a no-frills, open and modern space that caters to local students and families alike. Service was good- not overly friendly but prompt. On our first visit we ordered the kimbap- While we waited I decided to check in on Yelp and saw all of the reviews about it and my expectations skyrocketed... It took a minute, but when our order came we were shocked at how pretty it was (lol)! The roll itself is huge in diameter- I was trying to figure out how I was going to eat it but was distracted by the unusual colors of some of the ingredients. Usually I pick out picked radish and burdock in kimbap but decided to try everything and an SO glad I did- it was so, SO good! The quality of the beef and freshness of the veggies was beyond your normal take out kimbap- so delicious! We were so impressed by the kimbap we visited again and tried the spicy rice cakes and ttokbokki- they were good as well but the star here was again the kimbap! Definitely give it a try if you're a kimbap lover like me. read more

Came back for another visit with my family this time and wow it's still the same! Food was not only still tasty but also huge portions made to share with plenty of leftovers to take home. The cream pasta noodles have changed without any notice. I only ever come for the cream pasta and I haven't been here in a few months and was disappointed to see that the noodles were now fettuccine instead of the previous udon like ones. ruined my appetite a bit :( I was told by the waiter to request them next time but how was i supposed to know. Good service though. I just want the regular noodles, the fettuccine ruins the dish and texture. read more
Consistent food quality! We came back to OC and urged ourselves to dine in. Tteoppoki portion was massive and Fried Chicken was juicy from inside yet crispy from the outside. Service was great as usual. We were ordering combo which saved us couples of bucks. chan chan always has super consistent and delicious food! i absolutely love their korean fried chicken. it's super crispy and flavorful on the outside & still juicy on the inside. the fries were good too! they reminded me of the tteokbokki chips you'd get at H-Mart. the bimbim noodles were served cold, which was unexpected, but super refreshing and tasty! highly recommend. service was great as usual! we went on a tuesday night so it wasn't crowded at all :) the only comment is that the water tasted a little strange (aftertaste?) but that's all read more

You can request for mild. I don't like my food super spicy either, but the foods that I requested MILD I can tolerate.
What time does this place close? Because on yelp it says it's open until 10 but some reviews say that they close at 9.
They post 10 o'clock closing but the kitchen stops at 9 o'clock. So don't go there late.
