Since they had just recently opened, they had a one week free trial going on when I went. I think that offer is over now, but I think there's occasional specials that occur though out the year. Totally worth it to ask if you decide to go there. The instructors are super nice! Master Kim, Adrian and Danny were super accommodating to a newbie like me. Master Kim made sure to check how each person was doing throughout the class, making sure that each of us were able to keep up. His instructions were clear and easy to understand throughout the class and he was super patient in making sure we were doing the moves properly. As there were several different levels attending the class, the instructors would teach us individually as well to help us focus on certain moved based on our "belt" level. I only went for two classes during the week, but would gladly go again. I was so tired after both classes! Would highly recommend them if you're looking for something new to try out :)

First impressions of the gym was that it is pretty small but clean. There are gloves for visitors to use. The class before the one I attended probably had around 20 students and it looked very cramped. The class I attended had about 10 and it was definitely more manageable with space. The instructor, Gabe, was nice and clearly had great technique. I wish there was more feedback during the class but I understand that there was ~10 students so it's impossible to give a lot of personal feedback but I wish there was just a bit more. I would like to visit one more time to check out the advanced class to see if there is more focus on technique.

He has increased is self confidence through repeated success in attaining various belts through the course of time culminating with the biggest effort yet, a full year of training geared to obtaining his first level of black belt. The best things one can do to foster a strong base for a child's future in sports is to teach them spatial awareness. There is nothing better than fine details of the routines which are the basis of Tang Soo Do to make your child aware of their what their body is doing. Students who have the competitive spirit have the opportunity to compete in tournaments against opponents from other clubs. For the most committed students there are opportunities to compete at the international level. Training from this club prepares students to complete at the international level and to WIN!!! The environment in this class is one of respect, training, education, and support. My son feels like he is part of the Tang Soo Do family. In the last year, my son has joined a competitive basketball league, his level of fitness, flexibility, respect and discipline (which were all well developed in Tang Soo Do) have prepared him to leap into the environment of Competitive Club Basketball and to thrive in it! My son recently entered a competition for spots to attend an entrepreneur camp. The mats are soft and comfortable for the joints. I went to the fundamentals Jiu Jitsu class, and learned some details that helped my game. The class is strictly one hour long - 5 mins warm-up, 5 mins situational drilling, 30 min technique instruction, 17 min situational rolling, 3 min bowing out. The folks there are like most other BJJ academies, warm, welcoming, friendly, and happy to share techniques and exchange ideas. I went back home knowing that I made a few more friends in Calgary. I highly recommend others to check it out.

I have just started Tai Chi here and I am taking the beginner class. This is an international…read moreorganization and non-profit, so the price is reasonable. They have a seniors rate as well. Everyone is a volunteer here, including the instructors. Volunteers look after running and maintenance of the centre. In the beginning it progresses a bit slowly, but I think it will be beneficial. I am starting to feel a shift in energy. One needs to attend all the classes in the beginning, in order to learn each position. New moves are added to the sequence each time, and with repetition things begin to flow. Beginners can attend a practise session on the weekends, and they appear to offer various workshops, and social functions as well. There is a temple in the building. An interesting space. Eventually all moves are combined and become one large sequence, which I suppose could be done anywhere. I can hardly wait to try it on a beach! It is not strenuous, and is good for people regaining their health and is considered to be a weight bearing exercise.

Kim welcomed us in and Emily (women's head coach) ran the fundamentals class. The class was thorough and Emily really made sure everyone understood what they were learning. By the time open mat started there was a good group of mixed belts ready to roll. Everyone I got to train with was super chill. Really cool people at this gym! Definitely make your way here if you're looking for a gym to train at.
