THEY FORGOT TO BAKE MY WEDDING CAKE. And 4 weeks later, still have not provided me a full refund, even after promising to do so. Countless email exchanges and multiple texts have been made between myself and the owner, Dennis Stanley, and still I find myself not financially whole. The least they can do is return what I paid. As I will never be truly whole.. for the wedding cake was what I was looking forward to the most, and the realization it would not be coming left me in tears. To do this to a bride and then have her continuously email for restitution and provide TERRIBLE communication is a truly awful thing to do. ***DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS*** And in general, their communication is terrible. They don't answer the phone and you have to email 2 or 3 times before they respond. Weddings are already expensive and stressful -- do yourself a favor and don't add to it by using Chantel's Bakery. EDIT AFTER OWNER COMMENT: Chantel's Bakery never reached out to me after the credit card did not go through. Actually, the opposite. I emailed Chantel's two days after the in-person meeting informing them that my credit card had not been charged and asked when it would be. I NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE. It was not until the morning of my wedding did I receive a PayPal invoice, in which was paid within 3 hours of receipt. Maybe a planner would have been helpful in completing additional follow-ups with the business WHICH IS CLEARLY REQUIRED, so that I didn't have to be the one to realize the cake was missing. However, a business should establish some sort of organization that would allow them not to forget an order IN THE FIRST PLACE. The sad fact is that Dennis told me that the error should have never happened it was entirely their fault and he would provide a FULL REFUND which he has failed to do. They may not have time to complete your order or follow through on promises made, but they sure do have time to falsely respond to negative reviews. During the wedding tasting we already made our selections on the cakes we wanted. My wedding is in less than a month and it took 500...25 thousand 600 minutes and basically the FBI to get someone to reach back out to provide a quote. The venue staff also had reached out to the company multiple times several days in a row. The cake tasting was on July 25th and to this day there was no invoice provided. My family and I will no longer be supporting the business nor will we EVER recommend his service as we feel completely disrespected by the phone call we just had as well. We called the company and spoke with the owner as the calls forward to his direct line when the business is closed. When we spoke he had an attitude and basically said the shop was closed a thousand times and acted like he didn't want to speak to us. A professional resolution to that issue would be to empathize with your client and then urge the your assistant, or whoever the other lady is.... To contact the client. My grandson just turned one and he loves Coco Melon. Chantel's Bakery designed a Coco Melon cake for the occasion. The cake was light, moist, and delicious. It was adorable and the kids really loved the Coco Melon characters on top. The cake was huge and plenty to feed everyone. We only had one hiccup and that was the cake wasn't ready at the agreed upon time, so my son had to wait about 20 minutes for it to be finished. But, it looked perfect when they were done. Zero out of ten... I went to this bakery 3 years ago and had a great experience.. I decided to go to them again... well boy was I wrong! The day before the cake was supposed to be given they cancelled on me after numerous phone calls and changes to my cake. Totally unprofessional and would not recommend this place. I try to support black owned business but this won't be one. The issue started with my ORIGINAL cake design. The owner said he could not do the cake due to risking a fine of $10,000. I completely understood and sent him two other options. I thought we moved forward. Today I got a call about the old cake design and I explained that in the email I sent two new designs to get inspo from. These were single layered cakes. After that 20 minute call I got home from work and told myself to call again and confirm the flavoring. Would it shock you that the owner told me I didn't choose my flavoring as I am sitting here reading the confirmation order and description of what I wanted including the flavoring. I told him this was becoming a bad experience and then he cancelled my cake.... Instead of owning up to the lack of communication and misunderstanding he canceled my cake less than 24 hours before I was supposed to pick it up. 14 days later and still no refund after stating they would on email. I specifically requested that monk fruit be used as a sugar substitute for the cupcakes intended for my cousin's and my birthdays. When I placed the order, Dennis informed me that he had not used monk fruit before, to which I responded that I appreciated his willingness to try. Dennis provided an initial estimate for the cupcakes, but on the day of pickup, I was informed that the price had increased. Ultimately, I paid $116 for cupcakes that were of substandard quality, resembling hard cornbread. The only modification I requested was the sugar substitute. Given this, I am puzzled as to why the texture of the cupcakes was so poor. I believe it would have been appropriate for Dennis to contact me if he encountered issues with the recipe, particularly if the cupcakes did not meet acceptable standards. Instead, I received a product that was not fit for consumption. As a result, I felt compelled to donate the cupcakes to a homeless shelter. This is criminal to have sold these bad tasting cupcakes. I should call my bank and stop payment! This experience has been disappointing, and I will not be returning to your bakery. A few years ago my mom was diagnosed with diabetes. I am a decent baker and have been able to switch to non-sugar alternatives to help satisfy her sweet tooth, but cakes just elude me. Mine are dry and kind of gross. Enter Chantel's Bakery. My mom was recently diagnosed with cancer so I wanted to do something special for her birthday that was landing on the same day as one of her procedures. I used Chantel's Bakery for my daughter's Sweet 16th birthday cake and my husband's retirement cake. My daughter's cake had more design work to it being 2 tiered with several details. I was shocked to see how close Chef Dennis created her cake from the picture we gave him! He is wonderful in his craft! I asked him not to put the diamond ribbon between the tiers as that would get messy when cutting the cake. The crown and the candles were supplied by me. Both cakes were delicious! They were prompt on email when I asked if I could get a cake for a New Year's Eve birthday 4 days before the day. They said yes so I placed a last minute order for a birthday cake. The website is a little dated but is in working order. I placed an order and emailed them again and they confirmed it. Picking up the cake was a little awkward since they were busy, but the cake was ready to go when we arrived (and still a little warm!). However, I put directions for the order for their to be "Happy Birthday" written on the cake. It wasn't. It was decorated like the description on the website though and since it was last minute, I didn't mind much. I won't take any stars away from that. I ended up putting a topper on the cake. About the actual CAKE... The cake that I ordered and is pictured in my review, is the "Marble Mouse." The description is yellow cake with chocolate cake and chocolate mousse with white chocolate mousse frosting. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. If I could give a zero rating on customer service I would. I ordered a cake for a friend's 70th birthday. She lives in a senior apartment complex. I provided the complete address including an apartment number, and her home and cell phone numbers. First of all, the delivery was made to the Admin. building instead of the address I had indicated. A technician happened to notice it was sitting on the counter and had to look up the address as the paperwork with the cake didn't have an address but just an apartment number and it didn't even indicate who sent it. She walked the cake over to my friend in her building. I called to speak to the manager today and was told that they were not allowed to go beyond the security gate, yet I know that deliveries are made each day by UPS, FedEx. floral deliveries, etc. directly to the residents' apartments. In addition, the cake icing was damaged on one side as it had stuck on to the top of the box. The manager claimed that someone signed for the cake at the Admin office and said that they would take care of getting it delivered to the right building. I asked if he could send me a copy of the signature. He immediately backpedaled and said that he didn't have the signature as it was still probably in the car of the delivery person. He started yelling that they had followed my instructions and hung up on me. I will NEVER order anything from this place again. Very poor customer service and very RUDE management. read more

BUCKLE UP - THIS MAY BE THE CRAZIEST REVIEW YOU EVER READ! I reached out to Dennis Stanley Sr. to request a Peppa Pig themed cake for my daughter's 3rd birthday. He asked me to email him the details of my request as well as some examples of cake designs that pleased me. I sent an email with the details and several different photos of cake examples (attached photos) . I received a reply telling me that they would be able to create a cake based on my photos as inspiration that I would be happy with (I have attached that email screenshot). I paid $80 over the phone and felt full faith that it would be great since supposedly they are experts. A few things to add.. 1. NO ONE told me they were unable to make a cake with the likeness of Peppa Pig 2 I did NOT AGREE to paper cutout 3. When I requested a cake for 6 instead of 8 I was told the Peppa would not fit well and would look strange if I did not purchase a larger cake. I complied. The morning of the party I went to pick up the cake. It is important to note that I bought this cake from a peanut free bakery since my daughter has a severe peanut allergy. I was met at the door by Brenda Abolnik whom I later learned was the baker of my cake. She opened the cake box and my jaw dropped to the floor. The cake looked like a APRIL FOOLS JOKE! (I have attached the photos) Peppa Pig was edible paper POORLY cutout (which none of my inspiration photos were - they were fondant or frosting) slapped onto only 1/4 of the top of the cake (why did I need to get a cake for 8??). The colors used were also not complimentary and looked like they were created last minute without any plan or any care whatsoever. I asked Brenda why Peppa was not made out of fondant or at least frosting. She replied that they could not make cartoon characters likeness on cakes due to financial liability. If that's true then WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME THAT WHEN I ORDERED A PEPPA PIG CAKE? I had never bought a custom cake before. I have always made them due to my daughter's allergy. Brenda told me the cake was good. My daughters party was in just over an hour. I could not go to any grocery store to buy a cake due to the peanut allergy. I know if I didn't take this cake then my daughter would have no birthday cake at all. I took the cake and called my husband as I took off. I told him the cake was nothing like I had imagine, nothing like I requested nor anything like I was led to believe. He told me to call them right away. I did as I drove home. The owner Dennis answered right away. I told him I was terribly disappointed and even started crying. The cake was $80. I felt panicked to take it due to the party guests and my daughter's allergy. He put me on the phone with Brenda to discuss. I told Brenda all my complaints. She told me she would take responsibility for the cake and would give me a good refund. I told her I wanted a full refund. She said she would have to discuss with her boss and call me back. That was a MISTAKE. No one called me back. I sent an email asking for a refund. Dennis responded by saying he felt my final cake was a good representation of the photos I sent him! Really?!?! After I sent another email demanding an explanation and refund I received the CRAZIEST response (I have attached the screenshot from the email). DENNIS FABRICATED A RECORDED PHONE CALL. He said in the recording Brenda told me she couldn't make a Peppa Pig out of fondant which is ABSOLUTELY FALSE. No one ever told me that until I was in person picking up the cake! (attached the email screenshot) BTW, I found a photo of a Peppa Pig cake they made back in 2015 out of FONDANT (I have also attached the photo). I called Dennis to discuss and he YELLED over me and refused to allow me to speak. He refused me any refund. He took NO responsibility, NEVER apologized and in fact was incredibly RUDE. I believe in this moment he placed his EGO before the CUSTOMER. The cake tasted okay. Wasn't bad, wasn't really good. I beg you to take a look at the cake given to me and tell me, is it worth $80? Does it look professional? And then consider the way Dennis treated me. He seriously intimidated me and I'm a tough chick. Brenda is clearly not skilled. Dennis is a total narcissist. How can they defend this cake? There is NO EXCUSE for this poor quality. BUY YOUR CAKE SOMEWHERE ELSE OR RISK GETTING SWINDLED! read more
