My boyfriend brought me home some tacos from here and i loved them! Even 2h later when i finally got to eat them haha. I had carne asada and pastor and they were both authentic and delicious. Nothing weird, no shredded lettuce, no tomatoes, just meat, lime juice, cilantro and onion - how it should be. All in a fresh corn tortilla. Loved it. He said his burrito was just ok but he's had better but i would definitely go back for the tacos. Can't wait to check it out myself!

My previous experience (and post) expressed how busy this restaurant is. Stopped in tonight and, again, extremely busy. They need to figure out how to get to go orders out more quickly. (40 or so min this time waiting (and I sat at the bar for 30 before that) with a cocktail. What miffs me this evening is my to go order of margarita. I paid for 27oz, watched it being poured into two plastic cups, yet (when my order was handed to me), I only received 1 of those cups to go. I watched as the 2nd cup was taken around the opposite server station exit and put down. I questioned and was assured that this cup was in fact 27 oz and I chose not to push. But I am going to call "BS." I live 2 blocks from this place and measured when I got home. As I suspected, the 1 plastic cup was 20oz, not 27oz. Do better, Chapala. Give the patrons what they pay for and figure out how to get to go orders out in a timely manner.

Came for happy hour. Instantly greeted with great energy. My server has been great so far. $8.75 for a large margarita and it is perfect! Flavor and strength, 1 will def do the trick. Ordered a quesabirria burrito. I'll update when i get my food!

Not only is the food here delicious, but prices are extremely reasonable! My quesadilla with shredded chicken was fantastic. The atmosphere was cute and active even on a Monday for lunch. Service was very friendly, but a bit slow.

So so glad we found this place. The food is amazing; I get the birria tacos almost every time. They also have a generous happy hour that goes until 6.

Everything was tasty and the margarita was strong. Their chips and dip hit the spot and my favorite was the stuffed sopaipilla.

Everybody including our waiter and others were helpful and prompt. Service: our waiter Kevin made the lemonade and he did a great job. We had a little discussion about lemonade. We liked Kevin a lot. Food: we shared a gem salad and a pizza. The salad was totally fresh and delicious. The pizza is made in house (I believe from scratch). It was also quite good. Why aren't more restaurants as good as this one?

They even gave my partner a rose on the way out. The 5 hour braised beef was insanely good. It's one of those dish's that you could try to make at home and it won't be as good, which is what I judge the quality of cooking on. The server commented that employees aren't allowed to order it because they kept buying it all until it ran out. I absolutely get it. The calamari was super crispy and has a great tangy Asian style sauce. We saw being delivered to another table and ordered it immediately. The fresh baked bread was some of the top quality stuff you expect at a super high end restaurant. Great stuff. The only sad part about the experience was our table. We were against a very dirty/moldy wall with two super bright lights shining down on us. The place was absolutely packed for Vday so I knew requesting a new table would be a PIA, but we didn't let it ruin our experience, but something for the restaurant can improve upon. The bill was $175 after tip for 2 entrees, 4 drinks and an appetizer. Super fair price for quality of the food and will be recommending to friends and family. Can't wait to come back, but sit at a different table.

Somewhere in the kitchen, a cook probably felt a sudden disturbance in the Force and whispered, "The fluffy girl is judging." Correct. I am. Well, here it is. I am conflicted, but unapologetic. I fully acknowledge that when it comes to Mexican food, I can be an absolutely unbearable little diva. Now before everyone starts clutching their pearls understand this: I am deeply, irrationally, passionately in love with Mexican food. So when someone says, "Let's get tacos," I'm already in the car. Burritos? Absolutely. Enchiladas? Don't threaten me with a good time. Empanadas? Now we're having a conversation. But when you disappoint me? I'm left feeling... empty. I have forgiven exes for less than I have forgiven mediocre Mexican food. But disappointment? Disappointment sits with me. Disappointment follows me home. Disappointment rides shotgun. So we stopped in for an easy family dinner. The service was lovely. Beer was cold. Restaurant was clean. Everyone was nice. The reviews are glowing. People LOVE this place. Which makes what happened next even more confusing. For dinner, I ordered the Enchiladas Suizas, and the princesa ordered her usual, I will only eat food I can recognize and pronounce, plain beef tacos. Still judging her food choices, by the way. PLEASE. One day. Surprise me. Order something with a sauce. The tacos? No notes. They existed. They were tacos. The Enchiladas Suizas? Okay. Just okay. The sauce was mild. Very mild. Tangy, yes. Fire? Absolutely not. This is food for people who refer to black pepper as , getting a little wild! And that's fine. But I like food that makes me think about it later. I want a little sting. A little drama. I want it to slap me just enough that I'm sitting in my car afterward going, "Ooooooo." Instead, these enchiladas tucked me in, kissed my forehead, and reminded me to stay hydrated. Now. THE CHICHARRONES. Gather around. This is where the story takes a dark turn. Those who know me know this is my thing. My test. My line in the sand. My cardiologist would tackle me into traffic if he knew how much I love them. This is the one item that separates the contenders from the pretenders. Baby, you cannot fake a great chicharrón. So naturally, I ordered some to go. And friends... These weren't exactly chicharrones. They were maybe the memory of chicharrones. The suggestion of chicharrones. These were chicharrón particles. Pork dust. The fossil record of a snack. The tiny fragments left behind after all the real chicharrones escaped and started better lives elsewhere. I opened the container and genuinely thought someone had accidentally swept a countertop into it. Not leftovers. The crumbs left behind after the actual chicharrones had already gone home. They weren't whole, glorious, crunchy, porky masterpieces. They were tiny bits. Fragments. Scraps. Not leftovers. What comes after leftovers. The emotional support debris of leftovers. Because I am an optimist. Because I believe in second chances. Because every toxic relationship starts with maybe it'll be different this time. The next morning I put them on eggs, hoping for redemption. I ended up throwing the eggs away. THE EGGS. Do you know what kind of statement that is in this economy? Eggs are no longer food. They're a financial instrument. They're a retirement plan. They're tiny oval gold bars with shells. People are basically keeping them in safety deposit boxes. And I threw them away. Those eggs. Gone. So where does that leave me? Conflicted. The service was good. The restaurant was clean. The staff was kind. The tacos were fine. The enchiladas were aggressively polite. But the chicharrones broke my heart. And if you're going to break my heart, at least make it crunchy. Three stars for dinner. One star for the emotional damage. Five stars for giving me something to talk about for the next six months.
