Very good. I ordered the green chili plate and it was fantastic. Big chunks of port and great flavor. The chili tasted great and it had great texture. The tortillas were warm and fresh and delicious. I ordered to go. The rice and beans sides were very small if the only complaint I could possibly have. Overall, the dish was great. The staff were friendly. I did call in and showed up about 20 minutes later and my order was not ready. Not a huge deal, I waited about 5 minutes and had my order. Overall a good experience. My boyfriend brought me home some tacos from here and i loved them! Even 2h later when i finally got to eat them haha. I had carne asada and pastor and they were both authentic and delicious. Nothing weird, no shredded lettuce, no tomatoes, just meat, lime juice, cilantro and onion - how it should be. All in a fresh corn tortilla. Loved it. He said his burrito was just ok but he's had better but i would definitely go back for the tacos. Can't wait to check it out myself! read more

Fantastic fish tacos and queso birria. Great service, great people. I particularly enjoy the fact they remember you. Please keep in mind, Chapala was a neighborhood gem, and was recently discovered by an "influencer". The result is that they didn't ask for the crowds they got. Of course service is going to suffer, but I don't hear anyone complaining about the food, which is some of the best in Denver. read more

My previous experience (and post) expressed how busy this restaurant is. Stopped in tonight and, again, extremely busy. They need to figure out how to get to go orders out more quickly. (40 or so min this time waiting (and I sat at the bar for 30 before that) with a cocktail. What miffs me this evening is my to go order of margarita. I paid for 27oz, watched it being poured into two plastic cups, yet (when my order was handed to me), I only received 1 of those cups to go. I watched as the 2nd cup was taken around the opposite server station exit and put down. I questioned and was assured that this cup was in fact 27 oz and I chose not to push. But I am going to call "BS." I live 2 blocks from this place and measured when I got home. As I suspected, the 1 plastic cup was 20oz, not 27oz. Do better, Chapala. Last night was my 2nd time to go to Chapala. I have to say it didn't live up to the good quality of the 1st time I went. We shared an order of the Brillia tacos & enjoyed each time. I ordered the Steak Tampequena both times, & last night was different. My entree cost $21, & last night the steak (skirt steak) was so thin & tasteless, unlike the 1st time. It truly was as thin as a piece of paper....will prbly not go back again, but if I do, I definitely won't have the steak of any kind that they offer. read more

I can't believe no one has posted pics of their fried tacos!!! Actual fried tacos that aren't birria seem really hard to come by, and this place has them and they are DELIGHTFUL! Their crispy tacos appear to be the standard Taco Bell style hard shell, but it too order their fried tacos, pure goodness comes out. Food is ok, service is the slowest in town. Several open tables and the line is wrapping around the bar. They don't take reservations or phone numbers, so you must stand in line. There is no service coordination, so they struggle to get people seated and to keep service moving. I would not recommend, especially during busy hours. read more

The salsa was spicy enough to get your attention yet perfectly flavorful enough to keep you coming back to it. The chips have a delightful aftertaste reminiscent of citrus or tomato inclusion in their crafted recipie, and the shredded pollo was fully flavorful, especially with extra green chili sauce. We had such a good meal here, we decided to return again before we left Denver. While the carne asada was not as tender as our first visit, the overall meal was still great. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, but our server was so kind and helped us package our leftovers to take to the airport for our long flight home. Everything we ate here was super delicious. The salsa had a really rich, earthy smokiness to it, the beans were rich and flavorful, our fundido with chorizo was an unparalleled, gooey, hedonistic indulgence, and my crispy chiles rellenos were probably the tastiest I've had in a long time. Crisp batter that cohesed very well to the pepper with a healthy hunk of cheese inside. I had a bite of my gf's ground beef burrito and it was also very tasty. The green chile was good, I could have gone for another ladle of it on my entree, but that's really a me problem, not anything of fault with the presentation or dish itself. I just really love green chile. It was insanely busy and we got a bit lost in the shuffle with service, but that's seemingly a consequence of them going viral sometime recently. Had lunch with the gals and I ordered a mojarra frita. Was dreaming of it and had it plain with no tortillas or sauce. They fried it to perfection and it was so delish. The avocados were yum and not mushy. The tomato was fresh and crisp. Fries were well seasoned and not too salty which I appreciate. The server brought a plate for bones. Absolutely amazing! I went here for dinner with some friends and when we were seated we were served fresh hot chips and salsa! Our waitress was kind and funny! She made great suggestions and joked with us all night! The restaurant wasn't too loud and they were playing the hockey game on all TVs. Shared parking lot with other vendors but plenty of spaces. Portions were large and we all had leftovers. Heard they had the best quesadillas birria tacos so I decided to try it. It was crispy, the meat was tender and the consume was good, not greasy. I had a serious craving for chile rellanos the other day and found this place right around the corner from my son's school. It was delicious. Their salsa was spicy and sooo good. The chips were served warm (but a little stale). My rellanos were perfect though.
