First time at Chapalas. Ordered one lengua taco and a bean/cheese tostada. I have had terrible tostadas elsewhere but THIS ONE was quite tasty! The lengua taco was flavorful and tender. I like their salsa (hot). AND no extra charge for a side of sour cream! I have been looking for other authentic Mexican places to go to and have often been let down by the lack of flavor at some restaurants... I am glad I stumbled across Chapalas today. The food here is seriously good and many local workers come in for food, especially at lunchtime. This place is the opposite of fancy, which gives it a certain charm. The folks are friendly and you get your food quickly. I ride my bike all the way out from Indio and use it as a biking destination because it is so good. read more

The BEST authentic Mexican food you can find. Catering mainly to local farm workers and area residents, the food is ALWAYS excellent! I have NEVER had a dish that wasn't the best ever. This may be a little hole in the wall type of restaurant, but the food it serves is authentic and DELICIOUS. We have known the owners for years (live in the same community) and have eaten here ever since they opened. They love our community and we love them. This tiny little restaurant is attached to a market on the side of the road. It's two ladies in a tiny kitchen making Mexican food. The place only has like seven tables in it and there was two tables of guys with service uniforms on getting a bite to eat so you know it's got to be good. I came in close to 10 o'clock and I ordered a breakfast burritos and the lady shot me a somewhat startled look and talked with her coworker and apparently they still had eggs so they made me a delicious machaca and egg burrito. They don't even have a Machac an egg burrito on the menu which I didn't notice until later but they still made it anyways and that gives you bonus points I like that. The tortilla was fantastic and fresh the beans were creamy and delicious the homemade salsa was spicy but not ridiculously spicy. The drinks were Coke with real sugar I think they sell coffee but I walk next-door to the market and bought myself a Diet Coke. If you happen to be driving down that Harrison Road and you're hungry I recommend you stop in. read more

Best burgers in town, carne asada burrito is flawless,. Been coming here for over 20 years and still great food and service.

We love coming here because the food is great and usually so is the service... today, not so much... we we're heading into town so we decided to place a phone order so that it would be ready for pickup. We called about 20 mins before getting there. I ordered two barbacoa burritos and 1 order of fries with two drinks. The lady answering the phone asked if i wanted two fries and one burrito as she was reading the order back. I said no, 1 fries and two burritos. We get there and there is a line, which is fine but I spent another 15 mins waiting... I picked up my order and when we were in the car we realized she had given me 1 burrito and two fries... I went back and she tried saying that's what I have in the order so I said no you asked and I corrected you. So she said ok I'll make you the burrito. I asked if she wanted the extra order of fries and she said no it's ok. Then she calls me to the window and tells me I have to pay for the extra burrito, i went to my car as my card was in the car and when I came back she said "my coworker said I have to charge you more because the barbacoa burrito costs more" I was already ticked off and said "wait, you made the mistake and I still have to pay extra?" So she said "it's ok, it's ok, I'll just charge you for the regular burrito" what happened to the customer is always right? If she would have take back the extra fries (which we didn't eat) and just charged me the difference I would have been ok with that, but to make me feel like it was MY mistake???? Love this place!! The food is great and they have excellent costumer service, they always go above and beyond. I especially love the fact that its a family owned and operated business and they listen to their costumers. It has been a staple in the community along with the meat market next door. It is not your typical fast food restaurant and the food is made from scratch so it does take alittle longer but it is well worth the wait. I especially recommend the burritos or the famous Oasis burger always well served. read more

There are only a few times when a burrito actually tastes like a real Mexican delicious burrito. Their burritos are huge filled with delicious home made beans, rice, salsa, and carne asada. Just by describing it my mouth is melting. It's a small place, but definitely worth the wait. I still need to try their famous Oasis burger and tacos.
