Burritos are great, had the barbacoa and the al pastor. Plenty of parking, if the lot is full there is a dirt lot to park in

The menu might be considered small however plenty of excellent choices for everyone's palate. We started with martinis Aviation gin for me & Ketel 1 for my hubs complete with bleu cheeses olives served tall & verrry cold. Our appetizer choice, the deep fried artichokes served with a creamy tasty aioli nicely presented however a bit over salted for our tastes, hence the 4.5 vs 5 stars. We came in to Italica wanting pasta the Bolognese with wild boar/fennel sausage arrived practically overflowing from the bowl, easily could have served 2 or possibly an appetizer to share at the table. My choice the Spaghetti Alio Olio presented bucatini pasta with bread crumbs & pecorino cheese ~ OOOOH MY, sooooo DELICIOUS my bowl was inhaled. Mid meal we ordered the prosciutto ~ fig jam flatbread just perfection the jam adding sweetness in every crunchy bite. To full from our appetizer & pasta we skipped dessert this trip but we'll be back!!!!!! as the drive to Indio from Palm Desert is maybe 30 min (+\~) easy & plentiful FREE PARKING be sure to look for the all stainless patchwork door for entry, once inside relax & enjoy the vibe.

I wanted to let some time pass, get through the holiday season and in an effort think some on how I might have made awful better. Having just moved I did not want to cook this Thanksgiving. I made reservations at "The Nest" a few weeks ahead of Thanksgiving I had read a number of reviews here on Yelp. I knew going in they had a lively bar scene with live music. We walk in exactly on time. It's so loud it's hard to speak with the hostess. (I'm a Boomer, a child of the 60's no stranger to, nor bothered by loud music) The dining area is separate from the bar so it should be no problem to be seated in a spot that allowed for dinner conversation. I asked the hostess if they did have a spot that was on the quieter side, she said no problem if we could wait a bit. Here is where things went off the rails. We were led to a table that was in a corner and directly under a speaker with the live music as loud as the bar area. Just to make it 'fun' about a 1/4 of the table against the wall had a slope of about 10 or so degrees. There was an older, thick flat screen on the wall so the person across from me kept hitting her head on it. But let's go to the important part the food. Each of us ordered the Thanksgiving Special, turkey dinner. Which was not only the worst turkey dinner I'ver even had but was the absolute worst meal I've ever been served ever, anywhere... including but not limited to fast food. I am left to assume my asking if we could be seated in a quieter spot pissed off the entire restaurant staff from hostess to kitchen staff Starting with the turkey itself, it was a small pile of shredded dark meat, two of us had shards of bone. Mashed potatoes? It was a small ice cream scoop amount (think school cafeteria service) of hard, cold instant like mix. A table spoon worth of some sort of liquid passing for 'gravy'. The rest was of equal 'quality' Two of us left the majority of the food on the plate. Oh and the pie.... Yeah about the same as the rest. I'm not even going to bother about the level of 'service,' I'll just say it was slightly better than food, cold and only indifferent. And now the part that just left us in awe of the whole thing. The section we were seated in was nearly empty by the time we were done, trying get find a member of the staff to bring us the damn check so we could just get out of there. And here comes a couple in their 20's having a domestic dispute, fortunately that calmed down and they left the area. And then here walks through the dining area a clown.... Yes you read that right a clown, in full clown makeup and outfit. An actual clown. No rhyme nor reason, just sauntering through. And as if this was normal and not at all bizarre. There is some sort of 'selfie' device in a corner. And along come two 'ladies' clearly intoxicated, to pose in front of it acting the fools only alcohol can induce and this obnoxious 'show' went on far too long. Just to add insult to injury the check finally comes with a mandatory 20% "large party" (of four?) gratuity. To be fair since it was a holiday would have left at least that amount normally. I appreciate those who work holidays, giving up family time to serve others. I've worked my share of holidays. I was ashamed and embarrassed, about the whole mess.

From there grab a drink while we wait before heading to lunch. One thing lead to another and we ended up just having lunch here instead. It's alway bar seating for us the last few times we've been. Service was a little slow at the beginning as it did take a while for a drink. The place wasn't that busy when we walked in as there wasn't even a host at the table. We just walked up to bar and seated ourselves. After we got served, it was great. The staff were very friendly and sweet. It was still a little too early for happy hour which is alway a good time to visit as the deals are great. Discount on drinks and half off appetizers on a lot of items. For lunch, the new items in the menu of garlic beef noodles. I had it a while back at another location and was quite impressed with the dish. Enough garlic taste with decent slices of beer that's marinated and tossed in a garlic noodles with veggies. If you haven't tried it, it's quite tasty. Also the three tacos with rice and beans. They're decent in size and the shrimps were quite tasty and big. Rice and beans were actually combined together compared to on their own. Lastly the hummus plate which is a starter was quite nice. And of course the truffle fries, alway a must. Food was good and the service was nice. A little slow at the beginning but it did make up later on. People did start to show up as it was approaching happy hour. At least with Yard House, it's good that you know what to expect.

This normally is our go to spot for a late lunch as you can't go wrong with the food. Normally we would have ordered more drinks and even refills through the machine. She finally showed up after the manager came to assist us settling the check. Her demeanor when she realized we had escalated getting out of there is worthy of a write up. Her smile and smugness and overall demeanor lacked maturity and professionalism for her age. Hard pass on her but still a solid place to enjoy good food with great prices. No attempt to upsell from her whatsoever....

I tried the martini and burger special and it was absolutely delicious. The meat is cooked perfectly and my martini was refreshing . My husband had the western bacon cheeseburger. He thought it was good, he just wasn't a fan of the amount of sauce on it. We then split the late night fries and the onion rings, both were absolutely to die for. I would definitely recommend eating the late fries right when they come out, since they come sauced they do loose their crisp! Definitely will be dropping by again the next time we are in Palm Springs!
