Chuck and Bonnie have helped me with many tenant issues over the past 6-7 years. He has always been a gruff bulldog but he has a track record of getting tenants out. That works with some landlords but some may prefer attorneys with better "customer service". I never really minded his approach as long as we got results. And we actually had shared some good stories in the past (e.g. he's an avid motorcyclist). Here's why I'm only providing one star: In the last two cases, he had literally forgot about the case. He did the intake and took the initial steps for eviction, but then went dark for two months. After two months of tenants not deliberately not paying rent, he calls and asks "Would you like to proceed with the eviction?". Per of his own timeline of the process, this is not how it works and the tenants just got two free months of rent. In the last case, he sent an invoice and five days later calls and threatens lawsuit for collection when the check had already been sent. Never mind the years I had been working with him, he left the threat of lawsuit in my voicemail just five days after I received his invoice. This is also for a case in which he forgot to proceed with an eviction. I get that he wants to get paid, but courtesy phone call would have been much more effective. Sadly, I fear he is losing his senses or perhaps has other priorities. I'm just a lowly client not worth his response so I must find another attorney going forward. For the tenants who don't like him, I know times can get tough but unfortunately everyone has to pay for housing. There are great tenants and there are tenants who deliberately don't pay rent so the costs are passed on to others. read more

Ignores his clients, only asks questions that require a yes or no answers, doesn't allow clients to tell their story, and then blames them for not telling him what he really needed to know, unprofessional and rude. Bonnie Bates is just as bad. Only yes or no answers, not allowed to have a conversation with the facts that are actually important to the case, rude and quite unprofessional. Both of them are horrible. Find another attorney if you need any protection from eviction issues. Client didn't even read the summons and complaint that was filed. They just inserted the clients name and date on the "receipt". It's no wonder people hate attorneys. These two are not worthy of holding a license. read more

If I could describe him in one word, it would be "unprofessional" and am actually surprised he has a license to practice law. He is currently representing my landlords who refuse to give me a copy of my lease and was told to contact Mr. Jensen got it. I spoke with him. He told me that he does not have a copy and he can't help me. This cycle continued when I asked my landlord for it again, and then eventually, Mr. Jensenhung up on me and told me to stop calling. It's legal to have it and they are both giving me the middle finger with both hands. I am a long-term tenant who was served a 30 day notice when I should have received a 120 day notice since the notice of termination was "removing unit from the rental market." my landlord had attempted to evict me using an "owner move-in " about a month prior and then when that didn't work usually a three day notice, and now Mr. Jensen is participating in their retaliation with the most current notice and it's looking like he can be added to my lawsuit at this point. He's definitely helped my landlords dig a bigger hole for themselves to get out of. He seems completely incompetent. read more

It's amazing and a testimonial to the ingrained corruption within the Superior Court of the County of Sonoma County that he has not been disbarred. We have observed him apparently forging documents, subverting court processes, sexually harass people, and place not only his adversaries, but also his clients in extreme peril leading to a litany of negative impacts including bankruptcies, suicides, and a list of financial (and moral) crimes. Charles Jensen talked down to me and I still hired him to handle an eviction for me because everyone said you need a "bulldog" attorney for problem evictions. I should have gone with my initial feeling; Chuck Jensen, and his female partner, failed to disclose to me that they could not help me until after I had paid them to do an eviction that they rushed me to do. I went into the office with details and questions, after several phone conversations, over a period of months; so they knew the details of my situation. In the office, I was belittled and bullied into "letting them handle it." But when the next step of the eviction procedure was due to occur at 60 days, and I had to ask if was being completed, I was informed that they were not "the kind of lawyers I needed." I was devastated and confused. I had to regroup, start over, and ask for my money back. I did not get it back. Also Sonoma County code enforcement states they want to support housing g but secretly go around and issue code violations, pushing people out of their homes. He would ask me a question and I would get 3 words in and then was yelled at ' STOP STOP' And then asked another question and yelled at again. In my experience he is so abrupt that it's difficult to even give him the basics. After I had retained him I went to drop off the tenant's rent check as he had requested (I was to drop it in the drop box) and the secretary said he wants to talk to you. It was unnecessary and it cost me another $85. Then I actually didn't need his services beyond the 60 day notice because the tenant vacated, so I waited for the remainder of the retainer. It hadn't come in 60 days so I called. Secretary said oh most people just leave it on their account in case they need us again. Nice try. I told her to mail it and now, 90 days later, I haven't received it. I'm sure there's a reason but this isn't good business practice. read more

I called the offices of Mr. Jensen to make an appointment in regards to an eviction that was more complicated than just removing a tenant. Mr. Jensen came on the phone and the next ten minutes were mind numbing. He was rude, called me "sweetheart" and "honey", talked over me, and was condescending. I did not expect to have a phone "interview," was quite willing to make an appointment and pay a fee. I guess I would say the only good thing about this experience was it did not cost me anything. When I asked him if he was having a bad day he said "no, I'm always like this." What a shame. He obviously has a much higher opinion of himself than is warranted. He worked against me with opposing attorneys, never sent me a bill, kept my personal legal papers, and sued me in small claims court while he lied thru his teeth (perjury) regarding sending me a bill. He withheld vital legal notices sent by opposing lawyers, all in attempt to steal our house.
