This Antique and Collectibles Mall in the heart of Salem, Virginia, has over 50 venders, with clean and well-organized booths in a spacious layout that creates a welcoming environment where you can view and shop from a diverse collection of fine antiques and vintage items, such as clocks, glassware, gifts, jewelry, and advertising memorabilia, to name a few, which value is derived from their age or historical association. As soon as I entered the retail business, there was a friendly and knowledgeable lady staff member behind the counter who welcomed me and told me to feel free to ask her any question that I might have about any item in the shop. As I walked around, what impressed me the most was the good quality condition that most of the items were in. And the well-organized that the vender booths were in, allowing the accommodation of a great variety and number number of items. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and its merchandise variety. Some of the venders were around arranging their booths with new items related to the Holiday Season. The lady owner of one of my favorite booths for the items it carried also happened to be there at the moment. When I asked the staff lady if she could open one of the locked display cases for me to take a closer look of an item I was interested in, she pointed out that the lady vender happened to be there at the moment and called her to see if she could open me the display case for me with her key. I was interested in a brass shield of the Commonwealth of Virginia. After I examined both sides to verify it was in good condition, the owner told me she could probably give me a discount if I liked it. I asked her how much she could leave it for, and she lowered the price from $75 to $60. And I quickly accepted. I was lucky she was there and gave me a discount, but most of the items I saw there were reasonably priced. A must-visit! I highly recommend spending time here to see the amazing collection of interesting items. You're bound to find a special something for yourself or a one-of-a-kind gift. read more

Lots and lots of stuff, unfortunately much of it was from China ( signs, cast iron etc). One vendor (#44) had a great selection and I spent about and hour browsing and I had several nice items that I picked out ( about $220 total). I had to use the restroom ( lots of iced tea on a 100° day). The woman said they had no restroom. I ended up just walking out with no purchases. read more

Lots of neat vintage items here. I haven't see. Anything super rare yet, but lots of nostalgia can be found here for sure. The only problem I have is that the inventory doesn't rotate very quickly so it's always seems like "more of the same". Also the seller's prices aren't very competitive. People know what they have and sell it at top dollar. No real "steals" to be found. It is fun to browse this place though, and we usually bring people here when they visit from out of town. [For anyone interested I did ask the owner how to go about getting a stall to be a seller. He stated he had a long list of people waiting to get in and that he charges a monthly booth rental plus a percentage of sales (this was Fall 2022). ] read more

This place has a pretty good blend of cool items. They have some antiques, some collectibles, some decorative items, and other oddities. They have booths throughout the building that are individually stocked and priced by vendors. The store has a vintage atmosphere. They play retro music that sets the mood for perusing the shelves stocked with items from years past. You will see many things that you recognize from the past. We enjoyed out time there. read more

My family and I enjoy coming here to check out all the unique antiques and Knick knacks. The guy who owns it has always been very personable to us and we enjoy chatting with him. We have gotten some great gifts for our friends and family. We have also found unusual antiques to decorate our home. And I bought my dad some great history books for Christmas. Have been coming to this place every year on my trip from the west coast for 20 years. Very organized and clean place. Some dealers have been here a long time as I remember some of the locations and items year after year. I love consistency. I have purchased very little here and the prices are on the high side but I really enjoy this store. Friendly people working here today as well. read more

What a great store!! We spent almost 4 hours here. We got lots of stuff, from paintings, radios, historical items, vintage dishes, etc. At Great prices, too!!! They play oldies music, which was awesome. If you want to visit, be ready to spend at least 2 hours here. Each booth has different characteristics and unique in their own way. read more

Prior to Charlotte's Web being sold my husband purchased the large airplane that hangs in the front window. However; on the day he bought the airplane with the plan to put it on his garage that was under construction, he explained that it would be at least several months before his building would be completed. The gentleman working that day said that it was no problem at all and that we were welcomed to leave the plane hanging in the store as long as we wanted/needed to. We were also told that a sold sign with our contact info would be attached to the plane. Well, somewhere along the way the business was sold of which we were not notified and a worldwide pandemic hit shutting down pretty much everything. When I heard that the store had been sold I stopped by Charlotte's Web twice and spoke with the new owner, John Breeden, explaining the situation. During the first visit an employee who also worked for the previous owners acknowledged that the plane had been sold. Mr. Breeden said "we'll work something out". On the second visit when I delivered our proof of purchase and contact information, Mr. Breeden stated that he had contacted his lawyer which told me that him saying that was just his way of getting me to quietly leave his shop and that he had no intention of doing anything. Although he once again said "we'll work something out" before I left the building. Weeks went by and he never attempted to contact us. On April 18th I emailed Mr. Breeden via his website and told him that if no other compromise could be reached that I would re-buy the airplane from him for the price my husband originally paid, again leaving my contact information. Today is 5/3 and still no response from Mr. Breeden. My complaint isn't that he won't "give" us the plane that we've already paid for once but that he clearly lied to me about "working something out". I don't appreciate being lied to and I certainly don't want to buy anything else from a dishonest & insincere business owner. read more

I love going all over the Eastern Seaboard and checking out antique shops, with particular emphasis on antique malls. They tend to have more options and a better hit rate than one small store. This shop exemplifies that idea, as one can find anything from 70s records to books to furniture to tools. I love that it was not a craft store masqerading as an antique mall, as is so often the case. I also love how it exemplifies the mountain domain from which so many of the items are plucked. Dave and Nancy have taken this antique mall and done wonders with it since they bought it. All the items are laid out well in the booths, you can find just about anything you can think of here. The atmosphere is great too, Dave has remodeled the interior and exterior. I always enjoy hunting around. Plus they have a salvage yard. read more

Stopped in during a flight from Kansas City. I was looking for pre-1900 antiques. The gentleman working the desk was very helpful and pleasant. I bought an old percussion military pistol from 1852 and brass powder flask. Both were items rarely seen in the Midwest. The store was full of true antique items. I will NEVER go back here again. I have shopped this store with all my children many times in the past 15 years that I have lived in Virginia and I have even brought my relatives from Texas here when they visit and they had kids but after the way I was treated this past weekend I will never return. I have taken my children to many antique stores that are bigger and more reputable than this one and they always are pretty well behaved. I understand any shop keepers concern over children but the way these particular shop keepers conducted themselves is unacceptable. I was there this time with my mother and 1 year old daughter in a stroller and five year old son in search of vintage toys and signs for my son's room. When someone I assume that worked at the store screamed at my son for putting his little finger on a dirty dusty clock and scared him. Then the shop keeper up front decided to stop what he was doing and stand in a mafia boss or bouncer like stance with his arms crossed and glare at us the whole time from isle to isle as if to say "I don't like your kind". I mean staring a hole in us with this mean look! I finally asked if there was a problem and he said snidely "nope" and continued to glare at us. We finally felt so uncomfortable that we decided to leave after only 15-20 minutes of being in the store but not before I gave him a piece of my mind of his rudeness and unprofessional-ism on the way out. So as I said to him on my way out I was going write a review and let everyone know of my experience here and to warn others of going here especially if you have any children. Way to treat your customers CHARLOTTE'S WEBB, you lost not only myself a long time customer who used to adore your shop but all my family and friends as well after hearing this they now refuse to go as well .Oh, and you also lost a $200.00 sale that day as I found what I was looking for elsewhere and they even gave my children cookies when we walked in! read more
