For my love of Indian food, honestly my last experience at Charminar for take out was not the greatest. Everything was done through online ordering where my payment was taken, and when I went in store to pay I was told they never received my payment and tried to charge me twice. Overall the service here for both in person and take out, is not the greatest. Wait times are long and the staff is not very attentive. When it comes to the food, it's okay. I have ordered the Charminar Veg Dum Biryani would not recommend. Previously have also ordered their Chana Masala and Gopi Manchurian which is decent. The portion sizes are small, and honestly probably won't be ordering from here anymore. 4/10 recommend! read more

I've dined at other locations of Charminar but this was my first time at the Markham location. The food tasted great but there were a few things that I just can't ignore. Read on... The Good I had the Goat Biryani Combo from their lunch menu and it was very filling and delicious! It actually included two chicken side dishes, naan, raita, salan, and dessert, making this combo a great value. It was also very filling! The Bad The actual price of the meal was $3.00 more than stated on their menu. Their menu is online and you have to scan a QR code pasted to the table to view it on your mobile phone. Hmmm, suppose you didn't have a phone, or an app to read the QR code? How would I know if I was being scammed by my server? The Not So Great The restaurant is large, obviously two units. One side is very dark and the other side brightly lit. Decor is very stark. Very! The wall surfaces are hard so you could easily hear every word of every conversation taking place in the restaurant. I was seated at a round table that had four place settings but the extra settings were not removed when I was seated. How long had they been there? There was also a pitcher of water (room temperature) on each table. How long has that been there? All the plates were noticeably chipped. This is the most upscale looking Charminar I've been to but they have a lot to learn about service. My experience at their other locations was far better! At least I enjoyed the food. If you like flavours that bust in your mouth you've got to try out Charminar! Unlike other Indian spots this place isn't as oily and is still full with flavour. But be prepared to read a novel because the menu is massive! I tried a lot of dishes but my favourites were the chicken tikka masala, the lamb vindaloo & the biryani. This is a great restaurant to try with your family for your next takeout night! Just don't forget to get the garlic naan. read more

Newest location of the chain, and one would think NEW = BETTER... THINK AGAIN!! Dined in on a Saturday evening, place was pretty empty as I later realized people chose take-out for a reason. Service: TRAIN YOUR STAFF BETTER and IMPROVE MANAGEMENT! STRIKE 1- For us who weren't familiar with Indian cuisine, of course lots of questions arise and would like an explanation on what's in the dish to determine what to order. The person who took our order told us straight up that he could only take down our orders but not sure what's in the dishes as he only started 3 days prior. NOT AN EXCUSE! STRIKE 2- When we wanted to order something on the weekend special column, we were told none were being offered at the moment. SHOULDN'T YOU CHANGE IT ON THE MENU IF NONE WERE BEING OFFERED?! WHY FUDGING BOTHER LISTING IT ON YOUR MENU?!?!?! Also, we wanted to ordered dosa as appetizer and guess what... NOT AVAILABLE! STRIKE 3- When we asked for a to-go box for the goat curry, he brought out a small plastic box and apologized that they only have those small sizes. Whenever i prefer to eat outside, i always chose Char Minar for Vegetable Biryani. But yesterday my thoughts got changed as I was served a spoiled Biryani during Dine-In ( Markham ). I ordered a Vegetable Biryani and while eating i felt it is sticky and rice are smelly. Then my friend also tasted and she almost vomited after having one spoon. We called the Chef and they took it back with a Sorry. No doubt, they served a complimentary Biryani without taking any money. But i could not eat it as my mood was all spoiled. Be careful of this place. The staffs automatically added tips on top of your bill, even though you are ordering for take out. They will not give you invoice and direct you to the payment device. We also had one dine in with friends. They added 15% service charge and get you to enter tips on the device. Very poor service. read more
