I'll start off saying that I'm a big fan of Charles steak downtown and have created many positive memories and have taken many friends and family to enjoy a great meal . So when Charro Charro Vida was rebranded to Charro Steak North, I think there will be great success in this location for my favorite steakhouse. Since this second location opened I have come for dinner multiple times, and the things I enjoy are all carried over. Great cocktails, attentive service, and great entrees. I love their lobster queso fundito served with chicharrones, and also really recommend the prickly pear albondigas for starters. I have enjoyed their seafood entrees but always come back to their the Carne Asada, estillo style. Which tops your entree with cheese and grilled smoky chile strips. What a gem! There are menu options for a variety of diets including their hemp tamales, Hola Hemp Tamales, which are vegan and delicious. If you are in the Casa Adobe's area is such a wonderful option for dinner. They have an outdoor patio seating and their main dining room is so pleasant and has been redecorated with Charro inspired decor. Please check it out.

We finally got a chance to try Charro North - we came early on a Thursday and almost had the place to ourselves. The service was excellent. I ordered the summer burger board, both the complimentary chips and the fries were cooked in beef tallow and were just delicious! My house margarita came in a big glass, and also hit the spot! Lots of salt on the rim too! The burger with onions and mushrooms was cooked perfectly, and I loved the vibe inside! The murals and low lighting. I just felt relaxed and really enjoyed the experience!

We've been going to charro steak downtown for years as an annual wedding anniversary tradition since we got married at the Stilwell House nearby (also owned by the Flores family!). Their food is completely unmatched and oh boy we are so grateful they've brought this wonderful addition to the north side of Tucson. Since they've opened Charro Steak North, we have dined on three separate occasions, and every experience gets better and better. The inside is beautiful and quaint, and the seating is always so comfortable. We always come with a reservation, and we are kindly greeted and seated by the best wait staff in town. The table side guacamole is a must try! They use the freshest avocados, and if my kids were allowed, they would even lick the bowl! We recently tried the seafood tower, and everything was absolutely delectable. The strip,T-bone and filets are incredible. However, my go to is always the Carne Asada skirt steak. The chicken tortilla soup is the best in town. On our last visit, we got one of each dessert, and I am still dreaming about that incredible salted caramel flan! Charro steak is a must try. Supporting this wonderful local family and everything they have brought to our incredible community is a must.

Father's Day special. Charro beans , fresh oysters, Picanha steak (so fine)) with papas fritas and a cold brew

A Pound and a Pint was the Father's Day special. Beautiful interior, great, friendly service. The 16 ounce Picanha steak served is a Brazilian top sirloin cap cut, has rich flavor with a tender texture. The crispy fat cap was so delicious. First pint was included in the special. Best steak I've had in quite awhile. Mixologists pour fine drinks with a Tucson flair.

The new Charro Steak North location is wonderful. This was previously Charro Vida. I love how they opened up the space and the Western vibes. Dwayne is the man, so personable and great service. He even told us the origin story of Caesar salad while making us a table side Caesar. The food was delicious, I especially liked the $3 happy hour oysters. The steak comes with homemade flour tortillas and beans. Very cool that you can request complimentary tallow fried chips and salsa! My only negatives were that the wooden table was uneven/wobbly when cutting a steak and my drink was small, mostly ice.

I've been a big fan of Charro Steak & del Rey downtown since they opened, so it's great that Charro Steak has a second location -- and at this one it's a lot easier to find parking! The food is still excellent. If you like escargot, the Charro Escargot is a must-have. Honestly, having tried (and liked) basically everything on the menu, it's my favorite thing they make. The escargot is swimming in garlic butter, topped with carne seca and queso fresco. Add a squeeze of lemon and it's perfection! Other excellent starters and sides include the Chilled Jumbo Shrimp, the Ahi Ceviche, the Charro Fries, and the Serious Brussels. The Carne Asada steak is very good as well, extremely flavorful and well-cooked. You also can't go wrong with the Salmon con Charrochurri, Branzino Veracruz, or the Pollo Asado! Lots of wonderful entree options, and I've also made tapas-style meals out of a few appetizers and sides. Service was pretty slow when we went the other night, which felt a bit surprising, but given other folks' positive service experiences, I'd certainly give them the benefit of the doubt before assuming that was the norm.

I love the decor at Charro Steak. The hostesses are delightful. The table for six was perfect. The filet mignon: excellent. Sides:good. Tableside Caesar: an overdressed mess. Hint to the salad team, sometimes less is better. The service: okay. We enjoyed our evening until it was time to pay. The server had a really hard time with this part. She told us our gratuity was included. Unfortunately it took so long to get our checks we all signed and left. Today I noticed a separate $50 and change charge. I was just getting ready to call and inquire about this odd charge when I realized the tip never was included. How can a server get that wrong??? So when you figure $50 was 1/3 of the tip, it was a pricey evening. Annoying, but a really good steak. Probably won't rush back.

I love Charro steak downtown. I was pretty disappointed in the special they served on Easter this year. It was Lamb, but it was pretty much inedible. I did end up sending it back because it was 3/4 just fat and I'm pretty sure the server knew when she dropped my food that she shouldn't have dropped it because she did end up coming back in saying that she was just gonna take it off of our check for us. The escargot was great. My husband ordered a steak and shrimp which he thought was great. My daughter didn't particularly like the mac & cheese. It was very dry and my other daughter didn't have any complaints about the kids steak. Overall the service was good. I thought our waitress was very nice and apologetic, but I definitely would never order a holiday special there again. I'm giving it three stars because the food besides the special was still good as well as the service. We had no problem getting a last-minute reservation on Easter night either which was nice because it wasn't too crowded or loud inside.

I'm so glad this location opened on this side of town! My visit to the new spot was great! The atmosphere felt welcoming and the service was excellent. Our waiter made us feel right at home. Every dish we tried was delicious. I had the Surf & Turf Enchiladas Banderas. They were so flavorful and the Carne Asada was really good too. I'll probably end up getting that the next time I come. The way they bring out the Chiles al Fuego is really cool too and recommend ordering those if you like chiles and want to put on a little experience for your table. All in all this new location is a win. I'll absolutely be returning.

First time in and figured, 'let's try it.' The atmosphere is amazing The food menu also looks great. The service could use some work. The manager came out and made it right. He noticed the lack of detail and tool Control. Turned this experience around Memos flight great Not a Bloody Mary fan but tried it and loved it. Ordered ahi cevechi and prickly pear albo. Both really good Ahi took the cake. We will come back for a round two

    Donna Y.

Great food and service. The arrival of food is slower but good things take time especially since everything is made to order. The roasted shishito peppers are served flambé tableside and are in a soy sauce for extra flavor. The steaks are perfection. The noise level isn't too bad for the size of the restaurant. The decor is charro western and feels comfortable

What a great addition to the area. They were completely booked online but we took a chance and went anyway and there were several seats open at the bar. Score! The music was perfect and wasn't loud like others mentioned. The ambiance is so cool, like an old western cowboy type place. I love the unique touches with belts and the mural behind the bar is beautiful. We shared the 1/2 lb burger which was $5 off for happy hour (normally $20). Definitely one of the best burgers around, it was cooked perfectly and super juicy. I also got a half salad which was yummy. The chocolate peanut butter tres leches is one of my new favorite desserts in town. It was so light and not overly sweet. We loved every bite. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Love the new charro steak north! My favorite was the ceviche and the french toast on fire. I also enjoyed the charro in the storm cocktail. They had a DJ here on Sunday and a Bloody Mary bar with the toppings for your drinks. The service is excellent. When I come to the charro restaurants they always treat you like family. I will definitely be back soon.

There is now a sidewalk sandwich board which is helpful. This establishment cannot decide if it wants to be a butcher shop or a fine dining restaurant. It does both...to mixed results. It's the classiest butcher shop I have ever been in, and the most schizo restaurant, bar none. I would not bring a date here. 3 stars. Service-I walked in yesterday to look at a menu for lunch. The merguez, breakfast and brats that i had purchased all had good flavor and mouthfeel, but were unfortunately, extremely salty. They have two restaurants by the same name that sit opposite of each other. I hear their counterpart is just as good. We entered the building from the left and told the host the name the reservation was under. The host wasn't as attentive as she should have been. She hardly even looked as us. We were standing there and she seemed to be busy with something else. No ' it'll be just a few minutes', nothing. She was talking with the other ladies. Finally we were seated. Our server was very nice. We decided on two steak dinners. My wife had the 8oz filet and I got the rib-eye both med-rare. Our steaks look good when we received it. But my steak was served rare! It was chewy and fatty. I chewed for days just to get a single piece down. My wife steak was overcooked to medium. There's nothing worse than an overcooked filet mignon! We don't like sending food back for obvious reasons. We've heard too many horror stories, not to mention I use to work in the food industry. The first thing I need to own is that it's a shame I hadn't visited here before. We arrived at 5:30p and both the bar and patio areas were packed - standing room only, and no wonder. They have one of the better happy hours (daily! 3:00 - 6:30p) - able to accommodate both the slacker and the over-timer Lol. Basic drinks are all discounted such as house wines, well drinks, and beers. Their bottled wines and craft cocktails are all exempt though. Many of their appetizers are also discounted and some quite substantially. We grabbed a glass of the house cabernet ($6, normally $8) and the grilled shrimp wrapped in jalapeno bacon ($13, normally $20). NOTE: happy hour pricing is Only available if you order/consume at the bar or on the patio and that's clear in advance, and understandable. The dining areas were only half full at this early point (but filled up by 6:30) and the host kindly encouraged us to enjoy our starters at the bar as she would hold our table. We were then sat near the "back" of this long venue and frankly, aside from the lone windowed table at the very front, this would be my preferred seating - cozy, intimate, with only five other tables around us. For dinner drinks she got an Italian Nebbiolo Bricco Magno Red Blend ($13/glass, reliably terrific/mellow) and I got the Chupacabra ($15) Mezcal/prickly pear cocktail, strong and excellent as well. We got an additional appetizer: the roasted bone marrow ($19). I had never had marrow before but she raved about how good this can be if done properly (bonus, it is super healthy). Folks, a picture/worth a 1000... suffice to say this was simply outstanding! We both had long work weeks and were craving meat - just a damn good steak. Our waiter, without blinking recommended the 8oz bison filet mignon ($65) as his absolute menu fav, and then the day's special: 14oz ribeye ($50). We ordered each. All dinners come with two sides and we each got the day's special: roasted half artichoke and she got the loaded baked potato while I got the mashed potatoes. Food arrived about 15 minutes later at good temperature (warm/rested with a strong char) with each being accurately grilled (medium and medium-rare). Taste was outstanding. Neither one of us had bison filet before and marveled how it (subtly) added a "wild" edge to an always outstanding, lean-but-tender, cut of beef. The loaded baked was terrific, however, the mashed was the only disappointment... a plainer mash one could not make themselves - pure white and borderline dry, no milk, butter, egg, gravy(?), nothing to make it creamy or add any flavor dimension - a surprise frankly. The only other "critique" is that the dessert menu could add some kind of dark/chocolate concoction. All in all, though, we loved our experience and have decided to add this to our periodic special dinners rotation! Staff was outstanding - just the proper balance of attentive and quiet - and waters never went below half empty. Parking is free and plentiful, especially behind the restaurant (and yes, if you continue on around the back there is another long entrance/exit driveway that comes out the other side of Jimmy John's and Noodleholics.

I understand the head chef has a French influence, but frankly it overwhelms the food and takes away from the freshness. I had the snapper since they didn't have the halibut. It seemed over cooked and then drenched in sauce with greens on top, also drenched in sauce. The saddest part was they sat us in the back room. Where they seemed to sit everyone coming into the restaurant. If the restaurant was packed I would understand but every other room was empty. Who wants to sit along the pathway to the bathroom? Service was so/so. Had to ask for drinks multiple times. But frankly the quality of the food was not worth the cost. Definitely will not be returning, until they revamp the menu to include less French style and more uniquely inspired fresh food. I mean if we wanted French we would have gone to Le Rendezvous or Wild Garlic which are top notch.

Visiting from San Diego and was looking for something other than fast food. Typically, I don't use…read moreGoogle for food options but that's where I found The Saddle. It's right next to the University of Arizona on university and I loved it so much, I came back three nights in a row. Call me a creature of habit, but when you're out of town and you find something excellent, it's worth going back. It definitely has more of a bar vibe than it does a restaurant, but the food I ordered was incredible. If you're hungry, don't look at my pictures. Lol. With that area of town being so crowded, I thought parking was going to be an issue, but I found a spot right near the front of the restaurant every time. I walked right in, ordered at the bar, and was in and out in less than 12 minutes every time. On top of it all, I had the same person helping me from behind the bar each time and she was incredible. Friendly, accommodating, and if I was the manager, she'd be getting a raise. Ask for Alyssa and you won't be disappointed. Needless to say, anytime I am in Tucson, Arizona, I no longer have to search for a restaurant that I like. I'll definitely be back. PS - When they saw me come in for the third night in a row, the chef blessed me with a free slice of raspberry pie. That's quality customer service right there. Love this place.

Man let me tell you. First, this is on university's main drag and it's and first food second. So…read morethe crowd is very bar heavy. Western themed but I would say it's a country bar. Service was great! The food however was lacking. Sub par bar food. Coca-cola wings have no seasoning. Burger is blah. But perhaps the most offensive this was the chili. I got wedges so he were good and well season with chili. The chili had corn in it. I like corn. It doesn't belong in chili. Otherwise it was good chili. If you want to bring some sweetness to the chili give a side of cornbread. Not corn kernels. Come here for drinks and to watch the games. Eat the food to soak up the alcohol.
