Had dinner with my friend and her family. I wouldn't have known this was where it's at if she had not suggested it. Tucked away in a plaza in Evans. It next to the sonics. They weren't particularly busy for 6pm on a Friday. I also saw they have a drive thru. Our server was new and there were a few mishaps with the orders but they fixed it pretty quickly. The chips were fresh. I enjoyed the salsa as it has the right amount of chunkiness. I got the street tacos....you can pick 3 different ones. I got carnita, pastor and asada. I believe this took over the location of where Twisted Burrito used to be. Someone correct me if I'm wrong! We ordered over the phone and it took about 10 minutes from when we placed the order. I got the quesadilla grande with steak, my husband got the chicken gorditas, but of course we got some queso dip on the side. The steak was very tender and not chewy at all. I was a little hesitant but that was a fantastic decision on my end. They cut the quesadilla in half and placed it on top of each other in the togo container. I'm pretty sure my eyes glazed over when I realized I had two halves to a whole. My husband's entree was very good as well. Crunchy, flavorful, and good pieces of chicken throughout. BRAND NEW - Just opened 12 days ago! We decided to stop for lunch today. They have a couple tables outside and plenty of room to space out inside. They offer takeout and dine in service. The prices are incredibly competitive and the food is better than every other Mexican restaurant I've tried in Augusta. I opted for their carne asada street tacos with hand made tortillas. One of the BEST Mexican restaurants in the CSRA!!! I love how modern and up-to-date this restaurant is. They have a variety of cheese dips which is a great appetizer to share....or enjoy by yourself! I personally want to say it was a great experience coming to Charros yesterday with my friend and trying it out but unfortunately I don't see myself coming back here again in the future. The Create your own Combo I purchased which was a Beef Burrito, Beef Enchilada, Refried Beans and Mexican Rice made me very sick later on in the night and apparently it was food poisoning I had . Not sure 2 review is permitted for the same place but Charros is just that good. During my first visit I was talking to the waitress about wet burritos I had had in Arizona, and if they knew how to make them. She was very interested and curious so she said she would research it. My second visit I ordered Tamales, rice, and beans. Very good, the tamales were in a verde sauce and the masa was created just right. The refried beans were super, they must have a different process, but they were creamy and flavorful. Unfortunately I could not eat them all because they surprised me with a plate containing, wait for it, a wet burrito featuring a carnitas filling. It was such a surprise and the flors were muy delicioso! The sauce covering the Burrito is a homemade concoction with enchilada sauce and other secret tasty goodness. Have been to several others in the area for take out since the Pandemic started including our regular dine in restaurants, but none of these have managed to reproduce the taste and appearance of their food in take out form. Charros has not only managed to provide a pleasing appearance to their food in the takeout containers, but the taste and texture of the food is as good at home as it is dining in.
