Not sure what made me think they'd give us money off for enduring months of noise and disruptive building works. Oh well, the promise of no joining fee if you signed up before it was ready ... less community than commerce, hey ho. It's taken them a while to get going, the fitness class schedule is still patchy and it's annoying that you can't just turn up and pay as you as like you used to. OK, on to the positives. It's been open for several years now and it still looks fantastic. As I live 2 minutes away I don't normally use their changing rooms - until last night. My heating stopped working in the current cold spell (worst timing ever!) and I decided to make use of their showers. Back to the good old days ... the original pools replaced Victorian baths! I warmed up with a dance aerobics class which was great fun - wish I wasn't always so busy on Thursday nights, more Latin freestyle than strict routines put a smile on everyone's face. ... and the changing rooms were a pleasant surprise, clean and white and spacious with warm showers. Enough lockers to go around (make sure you take a £1 coin!) and decent hair dryers. I am truly impressed - Better deserves its name after all.

As you would expect from a leisure centre when you enter the building you have to check in at the reception. We politely waited to be served and eventually had to ask if we could enter as being polite was clearly getting us nowhere. The miserable, uninterested and unprofessional tone that we were met with pretty much summed up all of the staff that I came across. The decor was a little shabby and run down but nothing drastic. My main issues are with the staff. There's no dedicated car park but there is a multi story car park within walking distance. Believe me when I say I'm really not a complainer. I'll turn the other cheek and ignore shoddy service more than most people I know. But this leisure centre was something else. I can tell you now, I'll never set foot in this building again.

I'm gonna copy paste some of the activities they offer: (My league has a contract with these guys and they rent out half of the sports hall for us.) Badminton, children's Birthday Parties, dance Classes, group exercise classes, gym and weights, indoor 5-a-side football, indoor basketball, indoor cycling, indoor netball, indoor volleyball, jubilee Park 9 hole golf course, no Strings, Badminton, personal Training, pilates, pool based classes, primetime activities, school holiday activities, softplay, swim School, swimFit, swimming, swimming lessons for adults, yoga, zumba classes etc. It also has a cafe- with yummy slushies; a creche and....a fairly big adventure playground for kids. The water in the drinking fountains is cold and crisp, they have some sofas in the hallways -so you can either sleep or take a breather while watching people swim downstairs in the swimming pool. The toilets are clean but a bit smelly...and the changing rooms are big and spacious. Lots of mirrors and blow dryers. The staff is nice and friendly. They get our hall ready always in time and and they are prepared when it comes to first aid. So if you're in the neighbourhood and fancy playing some indoor badminton, I suggest give it a try.

The is a £1.1 million community sports facility, and is a centre of excellence for sport, leisure and health in an area which was known as a site for anti social behaviour It is the home to semi professional Tooting & Mitcham United Football Club, who play in the Ryman Premiership. They run senior and junior sides. However, it also offers more than that to the local community. Mu hockey club, Merton Hockey Club is based here and we play all our home games here. The last time I used the leisure center was to play badminton but unlike other locations in the London Borough of Hounslow I have played badminton in, here one could hear comments and see facial expressions that a person of color is not welcome. More to do with the patrons of the center then the facility itself though. The prices are higher than in neighboring Hounslow Council leisure facilities and the center looks tired and ready for redevelopment. Managed by a private company and no longer directly by Spelthorne Borough Council.

Despite all this money it still suffers from the same sort of shortfalls all these places do. For example, there are only 2 changing cubicles in the mens changing rooms (can't comment on the ladies changing rooms without the police being called), and a ridiculously small viewing room for the numerous Dulwich mums to sit/stand with their double buggies and watch their little darlings tread water and swallow most of it, to name but two. You get the feeling that the pool has suffered in order for the authorities to be able to fit more facilities into the one site. It's only this latter point that prevented me from giving the site 4 stars.

Has continually grown since i have known it, the astroturf football pitches were a great addition and are very good to use. All facilities are kept clean and tidy and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The gym itself isnt the largest, but a few years ago was done up and the machines are excellent. Best i have seen anywhere, very high tech and you can email members through your Gym key, watch TV on your machines, listen to the radio and at the end of your session it tells you how many calories you have burned and what you need to do more of! Very good value for monay and a great place to go!

I…read moreprimarily use the centre for badminton, but there are so many other sports on offer such as tennis, aerobics, squash and a well equipped gym. You do not have to take out a membership in order to use certain aspects of the centre, such as the badminton or squash courts but it can prove more economical if you choose to do so, especially if you intend on using the centre on a frequent basis. There is also an excellent selection of activities for children, especially during the school holidays. The only thing that lets Redbridge Leisure Centre down is its poor changing and showering facilities, if these were improved then I'd definitely rate the centre higher.

I sent a letter to customer service which was ignored and unanswered. Additionally, they keep sneakily raising fees by changing names of classes ("Zumba" became "Aerobic Dance" and suddenly it cost more.) Not cool, Better, not cool.
