Horrible bank. They closed all my accounts without notice just because I purchased some BTC.

On one visit, after accessing my safe deposit box I stood waiting, box in hand, to replace it in the vault, nearly 10 minutes with at least 4 customers waiting to be helped. If one is lucky enough to get to the cashiers in a timely manner, the cashiers are usually very helpful. Before I moved to this area, I used the TD bank in Bernardsville. It was wonderful!! I actually enjoyed going in to that branch. People were friendly and the line moved quickly. When needed, the manager jumped in quickly.

I'm going to start with a rudimentary explanation of banks and how they make money. In its simplest…read moreform, banks take people's money, pay relatively low interest rates and loan that money to other people at much higher interest rates. I've been banking with TD since they were Commerce Bank and over those years I have generally kept well over 6 figures in my combined checking/retirement accounts. Recently I needed to borrow some money for a couple of months since I'm moving into a new house and I won't have my equity from my existing house for about 60 days. The amount I needed to borrow was less than 10% of what I currently had in their bank so in reality, I was borrowing my own money and paying them back with interest. Seemed easy enough. I went in and with the help of one of their managers, I filled out an application. I also gave them one of my W2s from last year that showed paying back the loan would require a tiny percentage of my actual income. Again, low debt to income should mean an easy and quick approval. Fast forward 2 weeks and I hadn't heard anything but I figured I would relatively soon. I went into the Livingston branch to make a deposit and the gentleman who took my application was working the teller counter. It was there that he informed me I had been declined. No email, no phone call, nothing. Straight decline. When I called their main office to inquire, I was told that my bank rep Bruce had filled out my application saying that I had no income and no employment, difficult to imagine when he had a W2 dated a week earlier. I'm in finance and insurance. All of our applications are taken meticulously and without error. In banking there's no margin for even the slightest mistake. Clearly that's not something TD adheres to. Their loan processing and decision making is amateurish at best and perhaps even fraudulent. To date, I've received nothing in writing explaining why I was declined, nor has anyone in a supervisory position reached out to me to explain what the hell happened. In response, I've pulled over $100,000 from my accounts there and will continue to do so until I've depleted every cent and moved it to a bank that actually values my business with employees who know what the hell they're doing. EPIC FAILURE.
