There is a reason they have an extremely high turnover rate…read more The pay is horrendous. The Economic Policy Institute reported that in all fifty states--rural and urban--$15 an hour is the minimum wage that a SINGLE adult working full-time will need by 2024 to cover basic living expenses. They have this new position called Universal Bankers paying $15/hr to meet that standards, but you are to do the work of five employees for one check paid to you every two weeks. You are to be an in-person customer service representative, a teller, a loan officer and a companywide receptionist day-in-and-day-out for $120/day before taxes, insurance, retirements, etc. Additionally, the staff in front, that have been here for years, are still WAY under the new hire's pay rate. Most of us have children. You will not get a raise for learning new skills that advance you into making the COMPANY MORE MONEY because its all under the Universal Banker title so everything you learn and the time and effort you put in is not going to increase your pay. There is no teamwork. No one in the back office- the supporting staff to the front- wants to do anything other than the bare minimum and they will complain about that too, especially the debit card person and one of the accounting ladies, HEAVY ATTITUDE and they never want to help front staff, WHICH IS PART OF THEIR JOB. The ladies in the back believe since they were here doing these positions 20 years ago, making better wages than what we are being paid now mind you, "it was never like that when I was up there", "they were always so nice", "well you're member service why are you asking me". They do nothing but stay in the back and collect a paycheck riding out until retirement. There are some customers who make the day easier, when they come in, but you are verbally abused by people who do not understand we are federally required to follow regulations and are duty-bound to follow policy. Everyone hates financial institution these days like the staff makes the rules to personally ruin their lives. I am a broken record telling people that the rules are comparable to OSHA's- no one likes them but their purpose is to protect you and the FI because someone's live was actually ruined years ago. Thick skin definitely helps, but with your coworkers will not support you- everyone is tired, stressed out and underpaid. Most of us are in debt and living paycheck to paycheck. And what does Management do about all these issues? Nothing, but yell at you for not answering the hundreds of calls coming in everyday when we are 6 member service people between 3 locations. It's the only interaction you will get with the president unless its about a loan. Management is just terrible. Its apparent and that blatant disregard causes a horrible trickle down of no one caring at all. Everyone does whatever they want, regardless of how that affects their coworkers. Management does nothing about this. It's all petty all the time because who would work here to replace the bad apples? WHO WOULD THEY HIRE? The front line is always short-handed, but the president became absolutely enraged when brought up to the point where we cannot even talk about it. No one can be sick, no one can have a family emergency or take a day off because it becomes a staffing nightmare! And good luck when you come back to work with everyone burnt out and them being mad at you for being short that day. They won't care that your family member just died and you are grieving. Or that your son is sick. Or that you had a mental breakdown. Or that you have COVID. Oh and another thing, if it SNOWS and there is an issued no-travel notice, the president makes the decision on if you will be paid that day and guess what he will decide- THAT NO ONE IS TO BE PAID! I had so much optimism when I started here. The other employees said this place will suck you dry and now here I am typing out a review for this place because its an abhorrent place to work. I am so disappointed.

I want to start off by saying I think that the people that work at this Bank are very nice. What I…read moredon't like is the way corporate runs their Banks. I was with this bank for about 6 months and my card got shut off 3 times and the one time they had to send me a brand new one all because they thought there was something fraudulent on my account and they called to leave a voicemail and I didn't answer it. I told them to stop doing this over and over and if there was a problem with my card I would be the first one to let them know because I am always checking my bank app. they are really nice until you have a problem and then you can just hear the demeanor in their voice change. That is telling me that corporations are telling them to do this. That is not caring about your customers, that is caring about yourself. they have a third party to make sure that nothing fraudulent is going on and I understand that but here's the thing it is not your customers responsibility to figure out whether there is fraud committed or not. That is your job and the third party's job. I live in Michigan City and that I went to Ohio for a vacation for a month and then I came back to Michigan City and I received a phone call and I had to go through purchases from before vacation during vacation and after vacation because they wanted to make sure that I was the one making all of these purchases. They even asked me about a dollar $1.60 pack of gum at Walmart. The final straw for me was when I went to the BMV to renew my driver's license as soon as they opened and I got everything done, took the picture, did the vision test and then my card was denied three times. I had to stop what I was doing, get out of line, go out to my car and call the bank to find out what was going on. They told me they left me a voicemail because they thought something fraudulent was going on with the account and I reminded them that I told them to stop doing that because now I'm at the BMV out of line and then I had to go back into line and wait even longer. It is not okay to inconvenience your customers. If this is the way operation is going to go in the future you will watch your Revenue go down.

I would beg any parent (or person in general) to not keep money at this bank…read more Long story short - My father passed away a few months ago. I am his beneficiary. Went through the courts to get all the proper documentation (which took several weeks and was very difficult in its own right). I went into Inova Michigan City today with all the proper documents showing I had legal rights to his accounts. The lady was EXTREMELY rude. Started off the conversation by basically telling me it was going to be impossible to withdraw the money today, even though I had already gone through the process at Horizon and it took all of 20 minutes. She told me it would have to go through some "approval process" first... Like, what? I need some head of the bank to approve getting MY money out? Second, she tried to tell me my documents (that came directly from the court) were not right. After I insisted she start the process, she continued to try to push me out of the bank. She ended up calling someone from compliance who said the court documents were missing some "seal" that they wanted it to have. It was the ORIGINAL document directly from the court... I ended up having to leave without my dad's money. Please do not use this bank. Do not leave money in here and force your kids to go through this. Horizon and Chase are much better options in the area.
