Saw a TicTok on this place and bookmarked it in Yelp. Today I was in the area and gave them a go. I saw the first thing listed on their menu was the 'hand battered' chicken fried steak (CFS) so, you know I had to go with that. Unfortunately, it didn't come through. The coating was crunchy but lacked flavor and separated from the steak on each cut piece. The steak itself was pretty bland as well. It was just plain. The hash browns were shredded and the typical tasty crunchy outer area that contacted the grill and everything else just soft potato. The eggs were cooked as ordered and the toast generously buttered edge to edge. There's two places to get good CFS in the west (Multnomah Falls - Portland, Moe Joe's - Boise). I was hoping this would be the third but it fell short. 5 stars for effort, 2 for the end product = 3 stars. read more

I've been here before and have had great experiences, however the last few times we've come to Chases Diner has left a bad taste for us. I specifically asked the manager if there was bell pepper in their vegetable beef soup because my partner is highly allergic and she was going to try it. Becky assured me there was none. Thank goodness I had the common sense to check the soup first or it would have been a trip to the ER for us. They just don't seem to care. After posting this review, I received a very nice response about my experience. Thank you for contacting me and for your dedication in resolving the food allergen problem. I would be happy to try Chase's again and although you offered a free meal, it's really not necessary. I'm truly more concerned about myself and other people with allergies having a good experience. I recent came in and just wanted to sit at the counter, get some cake, some milk and some service. I got some cake, some attitude and with some miscommunication, was sent out the door with a styrofoam box. No bag, no sliver-wear. NOTHING. Any who, I ordered my Uber and went home. I got home and took one bite of the carrot cake, I got To-GO. Oh my lawd. Who is responsible for it? Can I give them a hug? Can I buy this carrot cake by the whole? Do you used apple sauce in the mix, is that why- it's so moist and hold structure? Why was I upset again? Damn I should of got 2 more slices! Wait. That's a lot of cake for my money! Omg it's amazing cake. It's better than my carrot cake! Shhhh did I just admit to that. Ok ok ok - I've calmed down now. But WOW! Not to sweet, but then the frosting comes at you and then you are in pure balance of a cake that makes you close your eyes and think. This is the definition of CARROT CAKE. I'll be back. Went there for breakfast. Nice location and a nostalgic diner era decor inside. A menu that made it challenging to chose .Wife had bacon & eggs with crispy hash browns,toast and coffee. I had smoked sausage &eggs with crispy hash browns and a pancake. Both of us were pleased with our choices as food was prepared correctly and tasted good. My pancake was so good we ended up sharing it. Service was professional and our booth was comfy to dine in. We split a piece of Carrot Cake for dessert and it was wonderful. Success. read more

Finally a real diner close by. Had the Friday Fish and it was good. But not as good as the Red or Green Chili. My next visit will be a bowl of Red Chili with some Green Chili on top for heat( it's really hot) and a dollop of Sour Cream. I'll even pay extra. Had a cup of each and they where awesome when mixed together. Had to try it. Have the Carrot Cake. So very good. Plan on sharing the huge piece they give you. read more

Update: I upgraded this from a 3 to a 4 because the restaurant got back to me right away concerning my experience. I truly appreciate a business that prides itself on its service. Oh, and when they say the chili is hot, it is HOT. But in a good make-your-nose run kind of way Ok. 3 stars mostly because of the service. If it was just for the food, I would give it a 4 or a 5. Our server kept forgetting about our milk shake and I think we had to remind her twice. My husband's order was supposed to come with a side of chili according to the menu but he never got it. Since his kitchen sink skillet was gigantic he didn't need the chili and probably wouldn't have eaten it, it wasn't a huge deal, but still... I have been meaning to post a review about this little gem of a restaurant for sometime now. Chase Diner is right down the street from our house and Gary and I stop there often for breakfast on the weekend or a quick bite anytime. The folks at Chase are always warm, welcoming, efficient, and have a smile on their faces. The food is normal diner food. Not necessarily healthy, but yummy comfort food and tastes home made for the most part. Gary and I enjoy knowing that we are supporting a locally owned, family run business when we dine at Chase. The children of the owner work there and we enjoy visiting with them each time we go. They always ask how we are, what we've been up to, etc. The Chase family has become like family to us. If anything is forgotten or overlooked, they immediately take responsibility for it, correct it, and apologize. Watching them work behind the counter is like watching a well-oiled machine or a choreographed dance. They are that skilled. I highly recommend Chase Diner to anyone that wants relatively fast, good comfort food served by happy, gracious servers. read more

Let me start off this review by apologizing for not having any photos. This is unlike me. I'll do better next time. I met a co-worker/friend here, based on his recommendation, as I was passing though the Phoenix area. This was another spot that did not disappoint. The appearance on the inside and outside is a typical diner. I was greeted right away by a host who got me seated. As I was waiting for my friend, I got myself a water and coffee. My only negative part of this review will be about the coffee. It was not good at all. Very weak. I had my heart set on an eggs benedict, but the I saw the corned beef hash. Yes, I am a fan of canned corned beef hash. I did have to ask our server if it was from the can. Once she confirmed, I knew what I was going to order. I got this with scrambled eggs, a side of hash browns and an English muffin. The portions were prefect. You wont leave here hungry. I devoured the entire plate. So yeah, the food was good. The service was good as well. Even had another server, who was very cute, coming by, offering to fill up our cups of the terrible coffee. I love this place. My family found it while I was at work one day and they all called me raving about how amazing it was. Two days later, they insisted I join them and I wasn't disappointed. Our breakfast experience this morning was fantastic! Our waitress was so kind, and answered any questions we had. My daughter was even taken to the kitchen for a donut. The green chili burrito is hot! Just beware I loved the biscuits and gravy, and my daughter enjoyed her simple breakfast of eggs, bacon and toast. We all split the chocolate cream pie for dessert. Stopped in for lunch because we had been there a few times before and we knew the food was good. Still is but like everything else prices have gone up. Hot open roast beef was very good. The fish sandwich however left a lot to be desired. The bun was over toasted so it was hard and the fish was over fried so it was pretty dry. We sat in a booth at the end of the counter which just happened to be directly under an ac vent that was pumping out very cold air. As I looked up at the vent, I was shocked to see the amount of dust that had accumulated on the 4x2 vent. The other surrounding vents looked the same. It was pretty gross knowing that these vents have not been cleaned or vacuumed in months. Even the tin ceiling had flakes of dust balls. Skeevatz! It made for an unpleasant dining experience. I would strongly suggest mgt take their cleaning crew to task for allowing this to be above patrons who are trying to eat good food with cold air blowing dust particles down on the food and drinks. Maybe the Health Inspector should look up next time he visits. read more
