Saw this winery on food & wine on instagram and bookmarked in case I ever went back to aix. Low and behold here I am again this time for a wedding. Only 20 minute drive from city center Aix through windy roads of lush green hills and trees. So beautiful thru the driveway and into underground parking. They have a high end restaurant or an out door cafe which is nice after tasting wines or wandering thru the vineyard to see the many sculptures. (There is a fee to view the sculptures) Highly recommend a visit! read more

Amazing adventure... the food at their Terrace restaurant was great. We spent 5 hours relaxing, drinking wine, walking the grounds, and enjoying the art. I will definitely be back. Next time I will make sure I have reservations at their Francis Mellmann restaurant. read more

A classy and sprawling vineyard in the south of France, just north of Aix. The tasting room was air-conditioned and a majority of staff spoke both French and English with ease. We tasted two whites, a rosé, and three reds. Lunch on the terrace was enjoyable. The cheese plate was around 15 euros, as was the tomato salad. They had an insane variety of bread that just kept coming--fig bread, pineapple and coconut bread, olive bread, sourdough, whole wheat. Highly recommend as a quick side trip from Aix. read more

Wonderful vineyard and facilities about 20 minutes outside of Aix. The wine tasting includes a tour of the operations - organic farming, mostly stainless and gravity feed as much as possible. Domaine La Coste is creating some outstanding, high-value wines and are especially known for their rosés. The tasting portion of the day was great fun with good pours, lots of explanation and an engaging staff. Plus - and this is huge - a wonderful full service restaurant with really solid dishes. I had the Jambon et Melon and tried the Chicken Caesar Salad. What a great combination - fun wine tasting followed by a nice late afternoon meal. Highly recommend. read more

Our first winery visit while living in Provence, and it was a good one. Having come from the wine country of northern California, I'm never quite sure what to expect when it comes to a wine-tasting excursion. La Coste was recommended by friends here in Aix who had fallen for the rosé when dining in Marsellle. Indeed, the rosé is unusual, beginning with the color which might fool you into thinking it's a blushing white wine. Not nearly as sticky sweet as the typical rosé, and thus, we bought several bottles to take along. The tasting room is modern and the staff was helpful and pleasant. I suspect we'll be back to restock before the end of the year! (Was hoping the reds would knock our socks off, but not quite. BUT... the red by the box is an excellent table wine, very reasonably priced.) There is also an outdoor art exhibit, but it costs extra to include that in your tour. Would be a lovely outing with a picnic if the weather was in your favor. Put the place on your tour list. I think it's worth it! read more

The scenery was great and so was the food. My family ordered the cheese plate and it came with three cheeses. It was good but not very filling. After the cheese plate I ended up ordering a drink at the cafe and hit the spot. We did the art walk and it was beautiful. I recommend coming here and I will definitely be returning soon. read more

You have to see this place before you die. Read the descriptions of Chateau La Coste on any website. But know that it's impossible to fully appreciate what's going on here without coming here. A two hour walk through a wooded, hilly vineyard, with dozens of modern outdoor sculptures, it's like nothing we've ever seen before. Note: not all the art is superb but quite a few pieces really are quite good. It's the experience of this place that makes it worth the trip. Restaurant: pretty extraordinary. Tomato/mozzarella salad was outstanding. As was the house wine! My steak was perfect and they make the best scalloped potatoes EVER. Also even shared the recipe. Note: watch out for the orange cat (Caramel) who will attempt to steal your steak! read more

We really enjoyed our visit here. Allow several hours to tour the grounds and all the distinctive sculptures. Even if you're not an art maven, these works are extremely enjoyable. When done, pop into the store, sample some wine, and take home a bottle for dinner. Salut! read more

12 July 2017 visited the Chateau. Art, gallery and landscaping are the best and definitely worth the trip. Drinks on La Terrasse? Nope. Big terrasse, two tables with people, rest of the tables empty. We select a table and wait. Two girls at the cash register overlooking the terras, one guy with dish cloth in hand half heartedly cleaning tables. One of the girls prepares the bill and receives payments from one of the tables, the company at the other table leaves as well. We are literally the only two costumers. The guy with the dish cloth keeps on cleaning, not saying a word. The two girls are chatting and walk in our direction. One of them nods friendly enough and picks up two empty glasses from the table next to us, the other picks up an empty bottle. They both walk away. Apparently one cannot move without the other. They disappear somewhere inside. The guy with the dishcloth still does not feel the need to welcome us. The girls come back, still chatting, lingering around a couple of empty tables near the back. No other patrons in sight. That's it. We leave. The guy with the dishcloth finally finds words: "Au revoir!" Well, I think not. read more
