Upon entering you can really smell the strong tea aromas! The staff were super friendly and nice and recommended to try the da hong pao tea frappe. It was super creamy and had a strong tea taste. Stopped by Chayan because I was curious about their teas! Besides their seasonal stuff, their two main drink themes are frappe (which is just tea with whipped cream on top) or cream top. Da hong pao 大红袍 (oolong based) is one of my favorite types of tea so I got one with their cream top. The tea itself was delicious - strong taste and brewed nicely. The cream top was milky and creamy with a great addition of hazelnut bits that complemented the woody, roasty flavor of the tea. It was overall well executed! I also appreciated how they ask if you have any nut allergies before adding the cream/nuts to your drink. My friends osmanthus lemon tea was also solid with its floral and citrus profile! Staff were pretty friendly. A mix of tables and high top tables. Wifi available. Bathroom available. Giant parking out of front. Each drink sits at a base of $8, with the exception of a "cold brew" tea being $5. We got to try their Peach Oolong Tea, which was wild. The frappe had such a bold tea flavor, subtly sweet, the whipped cream on top sprinkled in with honey-roasted pecans, such a well rounded drink. Really well done. Also tried their Jasmine Green Lemon Tea, just a classic, and they don't skimp on the lemons. I loved how refreshing this was. Chayan sits in a plaza with plenty of parking, the aesthetic in the space is welcoming and trendy. The details from the cups to their bags are such a brand. So excited that Chayan is finally open! I've been waiting for the longest time for it to open after seeing some signs that it was going to open in rowland heights. I've actually seen this brand before on instagram and saw they were based in the UK. They serve modern style Chinese bubble tea drinks which are the trend these days! Their milk teas by default are fresh dairy milk, which I don't enjoy so luckily they have soy milk and coconut milk as alternative non dairy milk options. The workers are friendly and they were serving some samples of their jasmine milk tea. I ended up getting the osmanthus milk tea, no sugar, light ice, and sub soya milk. And it's so good!! The milk tea was creamy but not too rich, and on the refreshing side while still being able to taste the tea, especially the floral osmanthus flavor. I really wanted to try their tea frappes but those can't be subbed with non dairy. The place is decorated pretty nicely was well, with a wall that has sole information on the different teas. Terrible experience during our last visit yesterday (2/21) We stopped by Chayan a week ago and saw the promotion flyer in-store. They advertised giveaway of colorful horse key chain. This caught my eyes and that's why we came back on the promotion date which was yesterday. We ordered 8 drinks for total 4 keychains as the promo required. Everything was smooth until our drinks were ready. We expected to receive those keychains at the counter with our drinks, but the staff demanded we must first post a review at social media. "No post no keychains!" There were another 2 groups of customers, more than 6 people next to us being told the same thing. No one knows what's going on. This extra step was not even a written rule in the promo flyer. I understand new business gives treats in return of good reviews, but not in this case. Their marketing made a huge mistake for not having all rules written on flyer in fine print! Since the staff had our order in hostage, I was forced to follow his instructions to scan the QR code for their store website. Here comes the interesting part- their website is rooted with AI to generate robotic reviews instantly in a click! See my screenshots of their website and the AI generated review. In conclusion, a false/misleading advertisement issue has been reported to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Robotic reviews are also being reported to Yelp. read more
