I thought she was just having a bad day last time but now I think she is rude all the time. I went into Fundamentals for Living Thirroul with a friend and did a whole lap of the store. We had a look around at a few things and I found a pair of tongs which I wanted to buy. The woman was hiding behind the counter with her nose in her phone and didn't say hello to us until I reached the counter. I waited at the counter while she kept her nose down in her phone. I decided to get her attention and said "hello, how are you?" and she smugly shouted back "hello, good morning". I said "I would like to buy these please". And she loudly sighed and said "these are only two dollars, I'm only going to make 90c on these". I replied that I'll just leave then if she didn't want to sell them and was prepared to leave. She laughed and said, "it's okay". I thought she was kidding around and joking about so I laughed along. However, when I handed over my money to her hand she sighed and slammed my change into the counter. This behaviour was incredibly rude and not consistent with the relaxed and friendly community which is Thirroul. I assume that she's the owner of the store because she was talking about how much profit was to be made on the transaction. This does not make sense at all because this store sells many small items for the kitchen which are low in price. I do not recommended this store to anyone who expects a certain level of manners and respect. I am surprised that this store has managed to survive for so long who happens to be competing with stores like Kmart and two dollar stores. The woman who runs the store is rude, has no manners and has no desire at all to encourage repeat business. Do not go here.

They were specifically told we would get one of their new canoes. However, when the canoe was delivered to the river, we got an old beat up one. The guy who delivered it was unfriendly, almost to the point of being surly. Paddling this canoe was like driving a tank. It was horrible and took a lot of the fun out of our experience of canoeing the Shoalhaven Gorge. When we returned and flipped the canoe over, we saw that the entire bottom was warped. No wonder we could barely paddle it! When the driver came to pick it up, his attitude was just as unfriendly as the first guy, and said all the canoes were all like that (so, basically, tough luck). Our friends emailed the company about our disappointment, and they came back very apologetic, especially because our friends have hired from them in the past. The company said that we should have told the driver which canoe was for us, but in the hustle of unloading canoes, we just assumed he knew -- which he should have. We go to Australia frequently and will not be using this company again to hire canoes/kayaks. Word of advice to Kangaroo Valley Safaris: either retrain your staff in customer service, or hire new staff who will put customers first.

It was my girlfriends first time kayaking and my fourth, so we are no pros, but I kinda know what to expect. We had booked the night before and everything went to plan and our expectations were exceeded the whole way through. We did a two hour kayak (5.7km) self guided kayak, where you meet at the site and they drive you to the drop off zone with kayaks. You kayak down stream and through a few light Rapids and are picked up at the other end. The trek is about 2 hours but he staff asked if we would like more time (no added cost, just our preference) so we asked for three hours and they were more than happy to pick us up when we were finished. For $40 per kayak for the three hours and the pickup and drop off, it was a bargain. My girlfriend really enjoyed her first experience and so did I.

Parking is still free which is useful. You get a good mix of fashion retail shops, food, supermarket and departmental stores. While the mall hours are the usual 9am to 5pm or thereabouts, the supermarkets (Coles and Woolworths) and Target and K-Mart open earlier and close later at 10pm. I must confess I shop more at Target, K-Mart and supermarkets because of the hours. There is also a fish market which sells a large variety of fresh fish and seafood like lobster, crabs, prawns, oysters etc. The prices for raw oysters are also much lower than you will get in Sydney city. I love the coffee emporium which does a good coffee and hot chocolate and pastries. Simply perfect for a pick me up. The place is huge and does not feel claustrophobic crowded even when there are many people on a weekend. This is a decent mall with almost everything you need.
