Grilled fish, blackened, over rice with southern green beans and candied carrots. Perfect!

My husband and I stopped on our way through to Salem, VA. Everything was great from the service to the food! Great experience!

Stopped here for dinner as we made our way back to Houston. I found out since they have an outdoor seating, you can have your dog with. Good to know for next time. The restaurant has some great decor and it looked clean as far as the eye can see. Their croissants were a little over baked so it was a bit of a bummer since I know how good these are when baked perfectly. Our meals were good besides the fries and the broccoli and cheese casserole being cold. Overall our waitress was very kind, friendly and patient. It took us a little bit to decide what each of us wanted for dinner lol

Fried chicken (double) with gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy (I think they were cheese and bacon?), and corn off the cob. Skip the corn.

Cheddar's is kind of like a bougie Cracker Barrel: southern-style cooking with a wide variety of really solid items. The last two times I've been there, I've ordered a double decker fried chicken platter with gravy, cheese and bacon mashed potatoes, and baby carrots or corn off the cob (GO FOR THE CARROTS. They're sweet and satisfying. Corn was uninteresting and didn't complement it well). Chicken is crispy, melts in your mouth, so delightful and HUGE. The gravy has a hint of sweetness to it that I quite enjoyed. I feel it works better on the chicken than the mashed potatoes. I would rate the dish a 9/10. I feel like certain side choices would be better, and I have yet to find the perfect combination. But how about that bread? The croissants here are superb. It's like having dessert before the meal without it being too overpoweringly sweet. The flavor is comparable to O'Charley's rolls (RIP our local O'Charley's) but the texture is very flakey and unique among restaurant bread in my experience. Cheddar's croissants get a 10/10. Nothing like it. The location is lovely. There's a big fan in the center of the establishment and multiple lovely seating areas. The place is pretty quiet, the music is alright, and the stonework is gorgeous. Really, the whole restaurant is a work of art. I do think some easy listening music would complement the atmosphere of the restaurant well, but perhaps that's not what most people would want. Right now it's soft rock. 9/10 ambiance. I'm not sure what it's going for but I like it. The service is usually very good. My only real gripe was that my most recent visit had a waitress that was complaining a bit more than I considered was professional. But she still did her job fine...it was really just a minor irritation. Everybody has bad days, I suppose. 9/10 service. Pricing is standard fare for a chain sit-down restaurant in my opinion. Please go to Cheddar's. It's a wonderful establishment and one of Bristol VA's best. It's more reliably high-quality than Chili's, tastier than Cracker Barrel, and much more relaxing than Logan's. My only recommendation would be to consider getting something that isn't a steak. Their steaks aren't bad, but it isn't their specialty, and you can get better steaks elsewhere. They do chicken very well, in my opinion. I'm looking forward to coming back to Cheddar's, and I hope it's sooner rather than later.

    Pretty darn good croissants

Had an excellent experience with my husband while visiting from out of town. We've never been to a Cheddar's, so imagine our surprise when two enormous & flaky croissants found their way to our table! My husband remaked on the great prices and went with a whole rack of ribs. I'm attempting to balance out the croissant I just had, so I ordered grilled chicken and shrimp with steamed carrots. It's kind of weird to go to a restaurant and say, man, those were the best carrots I've ever had, but here we are. Our server, Mattie, did a great job. Would definitely return when visiting in the future.

Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen in Bristol is good. The decor and ambiance is appropriate for the restaurant style. Restaurant was clean and tables were cleared off soon after the customer left the table. Wait staff was slow on clearing empty plates at our table when we were done with something. Wait staff was slow in how quick they returned to check on our table. The waitress seemed like she was covering one too many tables. She knew what she was doing and working as quickly as she could, but was behind. Her service was good when she was at our table. Most of our food came out cool to cold. The vegetables were cold, not even room temperature. They were warmed and broiler back very warm. Over food was ok. I was expecting more fresh tasting items from a scratch kitchen. I'd consider trying this particular Cheddar's again and see of they do better. If they do improve, then it's a good place to get basic good food.

I definitely recommend this Cheddars. The hubs and I plus our son and granddaughter really loved this Cheddars and as my granddaughter says "BEST PEACH TEA EVER". So the hubs and I split the smokehouse burger with cheddar cheese and fries. I just had a house salad comes with egg if you like it can be removed, the granddaughter got the classic burger with cheese and no rabbit food on it. our son got the chicken tenders with a baked potato. Our server for lunch was Misty and she was awesome. On top of our drinks and stopping by the table a lot to check on us.

It's always good and their chicken fettuccine Alfredo is to die for but always ask for extra sauce.

The main building is a lovely and spacious modern inn that balances comfort and traditional elements with open and wide modern floor plans and bright spaces in a pleasing way while retaining the cozy fireplace experiences of more traditional settings. A first floor outdoor veranda opposite the main entrance stretches the length of the main building overlooking the well groomed hillside vineyards and a stocked, picturesque fishing pond. The hillside stretches up the horizon and with the westward facing veranda, offers stunning sunset views along with wine service. Below is a patio off the main restaurant and bar offering even more seating around fire pits with couches and Adirondack chairs with appetizer and drinks available for the bar/restaurant. We toured a king 2 room suite with a large sitting area separated from an equally large and well appointed sleeping area with a private large balcony that also faced the western sunset over the vineyards. The rooms were described as more akin to an apartment whereas the 9 onsite yurts accommodations were described more akin to a condo, described as pet friendly and a quiet community. Behind the yurts is a large barn structure that serves as a tasting room with an outdoor seating area with Edison lights strung around the overhang creating a warm space to enjoy the vineyards end production, currently nine wine vintages. Beside the main building are two much larger shaped yurt structures housing a full fitness center and a spa as will as an outdoor pool. We dined at Hickory for dinner and enjoyed their farm to table, Appalachia oriented menus. That will be a separate review but it hits 10/10 for hospitality, service, presentation and food excellence. We plan a fall trip for an overnight stay when the vineyards come in just before harvest to get the full experience! Also, we initially had a glass of their Chardonnay and being pleased with this, we opted to enjoy a bottle with dinner even though the wine list had equally excellent choices from familiar vineyards. This is highly recommended!

We've don't that to maybe 1 other ever. It was so bad, we didn't have the heart to explain to the manager as he's checking in on everyone table by table. We didn't want to make a scene or think we were trying to be difficult because it wasn't just one thing he may be able to fix...it was all terrible. Skip a meal and go for the atmosphere with drinks or apps. Still a great ambience, but it's just overpriced. Ribs were chewy, like they were boiled and just seared for some char marks. The Bolognare tasted one step up from sphagetti-os with just noodles and vodka sauce. Their star has always been their carrots side dish. Others warned us, but we won't be back for a lunch/dinner. Breakfast buffet was good.

The waitress went to retrieve the drink and it was not made so it was removed from our ticket. Bestie and I both ordered the Triple B burger and asked for the jalapeños to be removed. Bestie's burger came out with jalapeños on the burger. My burger was delicious until the heat from the jalapeños hit my palate and blew my palate with too much spice. The fries were seasoned well, crunchy, and hot. Honestly if the burger had less spice it would have been perfection so I'm so disappointed that I couldn't eat the whole thing due to the heat.
