I made a trip up to Laredo on business so decided to give my brother a call while I was in town. When I got to the house he said let's go to Cheddars so here we go about 1:00pm. This was my first time in a Cheddars so when we checked in I remember saying to my brother "this place is nice!" The hostess sat us down, waiter came along and got our drink order so I went with raspberry tea. When the tea got there it was warm with very little ice. Ok no big deal, I was thirsty. I ordered the sirloin steak with rib rack, same as my brother. Spinach dip for the appetizer. Got the house salad, tasted great, plated nice. Appetizer got there with chips and I tore into it, good flavor but wait .. is that hair? Expand on the photos! I've seen hair before.. just 1 strand. But 2? One on the chip side and another on the other side of the plate. What ruined it for me was the type of hair.. manager was notified by the waiter and he came over to apologize and let us know he will remove it from the bill. The sirloin was small and well done, I ordered medium. Ribs were ok, I took them to go after I ate the sirloin. I think the hair incident ruined it for me, my brother likes Cheddars so I can't say it's a one star, it was my first time. This may be an isolated incident, but how? Shouldn't cooks wear a hair net? While delivering our drinks, our waitress (Annai) had an accident; she dropped the glasses onto the table, and since they were made of glass, they shattered, sending shards flying across the entire surface. She offered to replace only 3 of the 8 dishes we had ordered, without considering whether any glass fragments might have landed on the others. Furthermore, she told us that one of the two managers would come over to our table, but no one ever approached us. Her excuse was that they were busy, yet there were only three other occupied tables in the entire restaurant. We waited for over half an hour for someone to come by, but in the end, only the waitress returned--this time to tell us that they would give us a "discount" for what had happened, even though, honestly, I don't think we should have had to pay anything at all. My family felt that we were being discriminated against from the moment we arrived; for instance, they seated us at a small table despite there being 8 of us (and larger, unoccupied tables available), and because we were speaking Spanish, they did not treat the incident with the seriousness it deserved. We will never return, and I hope no other family ever receives the kind of treatment we did. read more

I used to frequent Cheddar's until my daughter's tenders came out pink and rubbery which to their credit they remade the order only to end up with the same thing. They have a really nice bar, but don't seem like they focus on cleanliness. We were there for dinner and we noticed gnats flying around. Then we got our glasses of wine which still had lipstick on them the bartender was kind enough to let me choose another glass only to end up with a glass full of lipstick on one side. bartender ended up not charging us for the first glass which was great of him, just wish we had clean glasses and no gnats flying around to begin with. read more

Where do I start! I'm sure the 5 stars are from people the restaurant knows. This place use to be nice to go to. I use to go every weekend, but some waiters are more concerned and attentive to larger tables. Which makes small parties invisible. They knew they did so bad that they made sure I didn't keep a receipt before leaving. We waited 25 minutes to get a menu, then food took about 45 mins after ordering. After that the pasta had no sauce on it at all, and they failed to put condiments gravy for meatloaf and strips for our other plates and they never came by so we weren't able to ask for missing items. Overall bad experience, but it was good while it lasted. Just not it anymore. Carinos next door is way better at customer service regardless of how busy they are, they take care of you! read more

On Saturday, it was pretty packed. Filled with people. My friend and I got seated rather quickly, no reservations. They have a casual dining side and a bar side with tvs to watch sports. Sat down and they gave us these croissants with a honey butter glaze drizzle which was great. We shared the chips and queso appetizer, it was really good, free refill on chips. I ordered the half rack of ribs and fried shrimp. Got 4 pieces of shrimp my ordered, they weren't crunchy, rather soggy. I had a wet towelette packet underneath my ribs. The ribs are stated that they are slow smoked but you can obviously tell they aren't, there would be some type of smoke flavor and some type of smoke ring. Ribs were tender but the meat tasted old. Side portions are extremely small, when we're talking about the rice or the corn. Maybe e enough rice and corn to go in a 1 ounce container. Service is good, good atmosphere, but the food is subpar, from what we had. Avoid the ribs and fried shrimp. Prices are good there though I will say that. Food came out quickly. read more

I think this is very plain food with a few items being OK. The complimentary croissants were buttery and sweet. They were good! Had their sampler platter appetizers. The chicken tenders were good but the spinach dip and the cheese dip were congealed goo. The steak was cooked to order and was seasoned nicely. The green beans and mashed potatoes were ok at best. I'm a Sales Rep that was picking up an order and it turned out to be a nightmare. They charged me the wrong order and it took close to an hour to get this all resolved after they had already loaded my car with the food. Very inconvenient and I was late for my lunch with my client. Worst service I've ever had. Been sitting here over 20 min. Nobody has even asked if I needed anything. Well they didn't want to sell me anything. No one asked if I wanted water, a menu, nothing. I sat there 15 min waiting to see if somebody acknowledged me so I could ask for the manager. I finally got the attention of the girl at the front door. The manager shook his head. I informed a manager and it wasn't handled as promptly as I would have liked. The waiter made it back to the kitchen before he was addressed. So far we had good service. Since this restaurant is new to Laredo we had to wait 15 mins. It is really not that bad. Our waitress was Cecilia and she was wonderful. I am extremely impressed on the accuracy of their to go orders. We have ordered take out from other resturants & we always have some item(s) missing. This is our 2nd time ordering take out from Cheddar's and each time has been perfect. Everything is complete and taste just as great as if I was eating at the restaurant. I had the full rack of ribs. While I'm fairly certain they were boiled, the truly fell off the bone and tasted pretty damn good. I was impressed and would definitely go back. One of the most accommodation locations! I cannot thank the staff enough for being so great and caring! I went in last night with what was supposed to be a party of ten. Was seated without a reservation within 10 minutes on a Saturday night. I could not believe it. Within a couple of minutes of being seated we were notified that our dinner party would be at 30 guests. The staff worked with us quickly to relocate us. They communicated with us at every step of the way. Our waitress was so helpful! The food and drinks were amazing! Our entire experience was great! One thing we love is the crescents, expecting hot and fresh. We got a warm/cold and a hard batch. Obviously not fresh out of the oven. For our sides, we asked for the cup of chicken tortilla soup, needless to say we didn't finish it, too salty or too much cumino, whichever it was, not good. Went for early dinner at this new location in Laredo, its been open for five days. Not bad of a wait for 4pm on Friday, nice brand new atmosphere, packed with people and more help fleeting around doing a lot of standing around, but again training mode and a lot of so called managers I guess watching. We ordered the Chips and Queso appetizer, small portion just enough for one person, so this was a small disappointment. Ordered half slab of ribs with steak, side order of red beans and rice and broccoli. My husband ordered the Cajun Pasta. My Entrée was served on a tiny plate where the food was over the edge of the plate, I guess this is a strategy to make you feel you are getting a very large portion, but for me was a turn off. Once you start digging into your steak (tiny) your ribs go flying off the plate. The red beans and rice were served in a ramekin and lukewarm at best, broccoli was perfect. I had asked for Tabasco, it never came. My husbands pasta was good and served in an appropriate size bowl. Overall, I will return because the bar did look inviting, but only for a drink and appetizers. The food is the same quality of Chilis, Applebee's, etc. as a matter of fact the food at Denny's at the Port location is better (don't go to the one downtown). When mentioned I felt as the chef was upset as he kept walking in and out of the kitchen staring at me. As we were celebrating a friends party and having a few laughs we were approached and asked to be quiet that was the only time the waiter was polite and professional all night.
