In a world before MasterChef (yes, there was one), Cheeky Food already crowned their own Cheeky Master Chefs - winners in cook-offs held as part of their corporate training programs.
Cooking together as a form of team-building is the core of the Cheeky Food business, a handy way to work and dine together without the FBT! It's been a huge success, and the company reckons more than 51,000 would-be chefs have made their way through the Cheeky kitchens (either on-site in Surry HIlls or at one of a multitude of off-site locations where they've staged classes both here and abroad).
We actually joined them for one of their cooking classes, held weekends and Tuesday evenings and open to public registrations. Our lead chef, Martin, was clear, entertaining and amusing, and twelve of us prepared a delicious four-dish Fijian Indian lunch. I already cook a lot, but picked up some new ideas and good tips; others there were less experienced but obviously enjoyed the class and managed really well with the directions given.
Finding the place is a little tricky - its deliberately kept low-key to help the small but significant number of customers who organise events there but don't want the participants to know what they're in for until the fun begins. read more
