They assign you a coach who only does a half-assed job helping with your resume. They do NOT have contacts to help you find jobs. You are paying thousands just for a repository of information. Got me hired! This is a group of PhDs that really care about other PhDs. I was skeptical at first and read a lot of mixed feedback but I needed a job and nothing else was working. I joined the Diamond program and am happy I did because I was able to get hands on help on my resume and LinkedIn profile. I did have to follow up after the first couple of months and it wasn't a magic pill but one of the connections I made in the program got me a referral and I got hired because of it so I'm happy in the end. read more

Total scam!!!! They used high pressure sales tactics to get my husband to sign up. He heard from them a handful of times and we were very excited he would have help during an already stressful time. But after those few times we haven't been contacted for months. Every job interview he has gotten he has done it all on his own. With zero help from this company we hired. For their extremely extensive diamond program, which they offer job search services, they set up a video call during which they push you to sign a contract. Be aware that almost everything they say or claim in the call is a lie. They will barely deliver 10% of the things they say they will do for you. If you happen to participate in this call make sure that you record the whole conversation because they do so but they will not share the recording with you. You will need it as evidence to prove their lies if you need to dispute the case with Affirm. I mention a few of their lies here just to give you an idea of how untrustworthy they are. They claim that they have a 100% success rate and that they have found jobs for over 10,000 clients so far, all within 2-3 months. Just a quick search for their reviews on the internet, which include dozens of negative reviews, shows how baseless this claim is. They will tell you that you'll get a response within 24 hours (guaranteed) on any questions or issues you'd need help with. My experience is that in some cases they never respond, and when they respond, it takes them on average 2-3 weeks and you'll have to follow up several times. They will tell you that once you sign the contract there is no way to cancel it. Another lie! Because there is a rule which states that there is a 3-business day cooling-off period during which you can cancel your contract. They will not cancel it even if you reach out to them immediately after signing the contract, so make sure to record the call because you will need it as evidence when you file a dispute claim with Affirm or whichever financing company that works with them at that time. The services they offer are not worth it at all. They tailor your resume, which is essentially copying and pasting job descriptions into your resume. You can do it yourself. They update your LinkedIn profile, which is actually adding a few keywords to your profile, nothing more. They give you access to a directory of their previous clients to connect with them on LinkedIn. Most of them are not responsive or the links land on an error page. You won't need to pay someone to connect with people on LinkedIn! There are weekly calls, which are actually another version of their marketing videos that they repeat over and over again. I had a very bad experience with this group. The person who runs this organization knows how vulnerable PhDs can be, and uses very aggressive sales tactics to further lower your self esteem during his first interview. It seems he uses a very well planned script where he will tell you that your linkedin profile is in the lowest ranks, and that it can get placed in a "no hire" group, and many other negatives things. Then he tells you how he can get you a job in as little at 3 weeks. His sole intention is for you to sign his contract right there on the spot, he won't give you time to think or consult it with anyone. Unfortunately he got me to sign the contract, and once I signed, there is absolutely no way to get out of his group. I am stuck paying for his services for 4 years, and I feel sick everytime I see his face or hear that word "cheeky". Please do your research before considering working with this group, negative reviews are hard to find, because they work on covering them up. I just joined the Cheeky Scientist Association from this company after hesitating to do so for years during graduate school. After seeing everything I just got access too and talking with the trainers I was paired with directly multiple times already and their larger team I'm thoroughly impressed. I'm a little paranoid about online services even though I've known about them for quite some time so I wanted to let others know that this company does a really good job. I concur with the previous review in its entirety - I have benefited a LOT from the collective effort of many dedicated consultants and contemporaries in my progress towards the accomplishments of my career goals. There are no guarantees with finding a job or transitioning, but CSA helps us shift those probabilities higher and higher. The virtual and corporeal presence - be it content on the dedicated website, facebook groups, regular meetups, etc., all work collectively to assist PhDs in not just 'getting a job' (this phrase severely underestimates the benefits of joining the group) but in developing long-term and rewarding professional relationships. CSA has delivered on every aspect that was advertised, and the material that they continually provide us with to help with transitioning to industry roles is phenomenal at the least. On a personal note, I have benefited psychologically and emotionally from a peer group that is determined to help me succeed - something I did not expect early on, but am very grateful for today. This 'collective upliftment' (a phrase I think I just made up) was a focal point of my continued and rewarding relationship with everyone on the team and with the many, many dedicated and passionate individuals who spend time and effort in encouraging, critiquing my application materials, networking scripts, and answering questions based on experience, geography, trends, and what not. CSA represents a change for the better, and we all stand to benefit from the disruption of traditional mindsets and strategies. At the core of what CSA does is a focused team of dedicated individuals who share a growth mindset. This allows them to be flexible and adapt to OUR needs, which is the hallmark of a successful and professional organization. Any online material that claims that the Cheeky Scientist Association is a scam is WRONG and malicious. This is a professional organization that treats its customers/members very well. It is not a "scam" as some people might be afraid. A "scam" is where you don't get what you pay for. Everything I was promised, everything I have heard advertised, I have received by joining--and MORE. Upon joining this organization (paying for membership) I found to my astonishment that there is a very large curriculum to work through in order. The paid membership has given me access to a very long series of both video lectures and homework (!) on everything from in-depth finding your personal life meaning and goals (which is amazingly detailed and intense just like other more famous resources such as "What Color is your Parachute"), to teaching on how to network on LinkedIn, how to create an elevator pitch, how to answer lots and lots of currently popular industry interview questions, and how to negotiate a job offer. And lots of other topics! There is also a private facebook page that only members can see, on which I can ask all my questions. The CSA faculty have been very good about answering my questions very specifically, usually within a few minutes to hours (at most). In addition to the CSA faculty's input, all members can reply to my comments, and I can get to know them, meet them, and network. I was struggling to reach 500 Linked connections, but upon joining the CSA I suddenly, within a few days, found myself with over 600 connections, and increasing every day. Since I've only recently joined, I can't say how long it's going to take me to get an industry job, but at least I am starting to get a clear knowledge of the approach I need to take to accomplish this.
