    This place is definitely worth checking out! The food was delicious, and the presentation was super cute. Portions are generous-more like dinner sized-so if you want to sample a variety of dishes, I'd recommend going with a larger group. We went as a group of three, ordered 5 dishes, and still had plenty of leftovers (which we're definitely looking forward to enjoying tomorrow). Everything we ordered was flavorful, but the spicy beef rice noodles and preserved egg with eggplant and pepper stood out as my favorites. And don't skip the Pumpkin Pie for dessert-it was the perfect ending to the meal. It had a pain puri-style mochi vibe, lightly sweet and really unique.

    this place needs more hype. super authentic and very delicious dishes. anything you order is super flavorful and worth. service is great too as the dishes came out pretty fast and fresh. favorites are the cumin lamb, stinky tofu, and the intestine dishes

    The restaurant is pretty small and service is a bit slow, but the food is flavorful and delicious, not too spicy though. We enjoyed the dish we ordered. Nice presentation with big portion too. Fish head with hot pepper: not a lot of flavor when I ate there but got spicier after taking leftover home and cooked a bit longer. Chicken with pickled radish: loved the flavor but the chicken is in super tiny pieces with lots of bone. Blood curd: bean sprouts was overly salty. But the duck blood was delicious. Fish in chili oil: not too spicy when eating there either. Big portion. Intestines with stinky tofu / pork trotter with stinky tofu / Spicy pork intestines / Hunan stir fried pork : my favorite dishes. Not too spicy but so good with rice.

    Great smashed eggplants and cultice smoked pork. Their tofu fish head soup is also outstanding. This is a small restaurant that doesn't have many staffs member, but they do their best to serve and keep it clean. The price is also on the cheaper side. This is such a hidden gem and I would recommend it to any one who likes spicy Chinese food.

    In town for a bowling tournament and needed some dinner after a day of bowling. We decided to have some spicy food. This place is a small business with about 10 tables. Upon entering the employee was busy playing on his phone and didn't notice us for about 5 minutes. Once he saw us, he motioned for us to pick a table. We ordered the fried lamb, spicy trotter (pig feet) and sautéed cauliflower. Everything was seasoned well and about a medium heat and my favorite was the cauliflower, which was basic but full of wok flavor & seasoning.

    Excellent service and food ,Whether you're a fan of spicy food or looking to try something new, this place is a must-visit. Authentic, flavorful, and unforgettable - I'll definitely be coming back!

    Came to eat here with my family of 13. They were able to accommodate us. The young man that served us was great, our communication was done with a few words since we don't speak his language but he was still very good. We ordered a FEW plates and they were all great! Our family loves chilies/ spicy food and this was the right place! Inside was very quiet and clean. I would come back to try new dishes.

After being seated and looking over the menu, we ended up ordering: Fish Tofu Congee, $10.50 prior to tax- This meal truly nourished my soul because I was really sick a few days before and hardly ate anything. The congee was nice and hot and thick, just the way I like it. Portion wise, this is perfect for 2- 3 people to share. But again because I had not eaten much for the last few days, I ended up eating most of it (lol, had not realized how hungry I was until I was eating this). My husband did enjoy this congee too. Beef Stew Noodle Soup, $14.95 prior to tax- My husband ordered this dish and thought the soup was flavorful and the noodles had a nice chew. I also liked this dish and thought it was delicious. My husband finished most of this dish. ------------------------------ (Total= $28.10 after tax, prior to tip) Service was friendly. And because the restaurant is on the small side, it was very easy to get a server's attention if you needed something. Although I did speak mostly Cantonese when I was here (I am actually trying to make myself speak Cantonese more), you can order in English. So you shouldn't have any trouble when you dine here. Overall, coming to The Congee was the right choice for dinner and so glad we did. I do see myself coming back here for another meal in the near future. Please note that there is a unisex restaurant towards the back of the restaurant, right next to the back entrance/ exit. The restroom itself had all the basic essentials (running water, toilet paper, paper towels and soap) but wasn't the cleanest. It was decent at best.

The dish featured four generously sized shrimp wontons, all amply filled with shrimp. I did sample the noodles, but unfortunately, I was too satiated to fully appreciate them. I am looking forward to returning for the Shrimp Wonton Noodles in Soup.

We had been waiting this whole time for a pick-up order that was already ready. And it was right in front of him too! What frustrated us most wasn't the wait, but it was the complete lack of communication and basic customer service. There was no apology, no explanation, and not even a goodbye when we left. The food may be popular, but this pickup experience left a terrible impression. We felt completely ignored, and based on this experience, I would not recommend ordering pickup from this location.

It's a comfortable spot with padded banquettes or chairs at the tables, which feature chrome frames and (very good-looking) faux marble tops; along with white walls and light-colored wood accents, the owners have created a clean, simple, welcoming environment. The mood is jostled even further into a specific vibe of calmness with the carefully curated music being played: bossa nova covers of pop hits from bygone days (The Bee Gees' "More Than A Woman" and the Bee Gees'-written Streisand hit, "A Woman In Love" being examples), but it all works. The menu offers a varied selection of dishes from several Asian cultures, from Chinese Beef Rolls to Japanese noodles and soups to Korean Beef over rice. It's not a huge menu, but there's definitely enough there for everyone to find something interesting to eat. The food is all cooked in view of the customers by a staff of chefs working in a sparkling clean kitchen enclosed by windows, and the staff is uniformly friendly despite juggling a lunchtime crowd at the tables plus quite a lot of to-go orders. I tried 2 really enjoyable and satisfying dishes. Beef Rolls featured thinly sliced brisket rolled inside crispy fried crepes with scallion, cilantro and a touch of Hoisin sauce. The brisket had a mild but distinctive flavor that spoke of careful preparation, while the slightly astringent pop from the onions and herbs was a nice foil for the inherent fattiness of the fried crepes. The Hoisin sauce was very subtly deployed, lending tasty support without overwhelming everything else. I added some of the house chili oil for a little extra spice and peppery depth, but these well-made rolls were terrific all by themselves. It should also be noted that the portion is very generous, especially for the price ($12.80), and more than enough for 2 people (perhaps 4 people, if each has 1/2). My other dish was the Qinghai Clear Cold Noodle, a terrific-looking, and even better-tasting blend of thick, chewy noodles, fresh chopped garlic, veggies, tofu and chili sauce that's got a bit of heat but more so a pleasing depth of Chinese spices. This appetizer is packed with flavor and just happens to be Vegan (as are a number of menu items), so it can be enjoyed by anyone. All in all, this was a fantastic mid-week lunch that pleased the senses without breaking the bank, and I even brought some home for later. Do give this Noodle St. a try -- and if you're not in Pasadena, check their website, because they have 8 locations, with a 9th opening soon in Sherman Oaks.
