Whether it's for cooking classes, team building activities, or catering services, it's a great way to enjoy a night out with loved ones or new acquaintances. Instead of the typical dinner at your everyday restaurant, why not go behind the scenes in a relaxed atmosphere and directly engage the Chef? Better yet, you'll find yourself cooking and picking up tips along the way. Chefs are vetted and come from a diverse range of culinary backgrounds. Hosted at their place or yours, you're able to choose from variety of experiences. They've recently expanded to Philadelphia and Chef Renee Weigel is one of their brightest stars. She was awarded the James Beard Scholarship and will soon graduate from the Drexel Culinary Arts program. But don't let the fresh face fool you. Her experience in the restaurant industry starts from a young age. With local Pennsylvania Dutch roots, she's worked in numerous restaurants and has a passion for sustainable agriculture and sourcing ingredients from local farmers. She's also involved with LocalStove, which provides subscription-based meal prep planning or catering. For CozyMeal, Chef Renee's base of operations is the open kitchen at Good Food Flats. With a gorgeous tablescape and place settings all ready, I knew all I had to do was pop open a bottle of wine and relax. After a brief introduction, Chef had us join in on the prep for the meal. My friend Sembat got to work on chopping up some shallots while I went after the onion. This was all for the base of a nice red sauce, with both fresh vine-ripened and canned tomatoes. Touch of sugar, salt, and herbs and it was good to go. There was also plenty left for us to take home in several jars! Chef Renee then cooked up some arborio rice to make risotto. With this cooled, we helped roll out some rice balls with bread crumbs, which were then deftly fried to give us our first course - arancini with homemade red sauce. Delicious! I was excited for our next dish. Having had Vetri's spinach gnocchi several times, I actually attempted a recreation a few months back. That was definitely a fail, with the gnocchi turning out rock hard. But having Chef Renee provide me with proper instruction, we were able to create a rustic and fluffy iteration, with ricotta and fresh spinach coming through. The browned butter and Parmesan helped to create a salty bite that was simply delicious. Definitely helped myself to seconds of this. For dessert, a quick 15 to 20-minute baked olive oil cake was all we needed. Crispy on the outside and fluffy within, we had a lot of fun plating our own dishes. We even made homemade whipped cream and topped it all with powdered sugar and slivered orange slices. Bellisimo! Be sure to check out the CozyMeal options available in Philadelphia. Apart from the Italian Recipes cooking class with Chef Renee, she also has cooking classes for Dim Sum, Mexican, and French fare as well. CozyMeal is expanding quickly and appears to be a great way for folks to amp up date night or provide a creative way to host friends.

Dylan customized our menu based on my family's preferences for fresh, clean naturally flavorful dishes and he delivered an epic 5-course dinner that tasted as incredible as it looked. Truly fine dining in the comfort of our Airbnb home. I also appreciated how laid back and flexible Dylan was the entire time - he's a true professional and rolled with the punches. His 2nd chef couldn't make it last minute but Dylan made sure this didn't affect our experience by shopping for half of his ingredients and swinging by to check out our kitchen the day before so that he could maximize his time the day of. The presentation of each course was also perfectly timed, allowing for room to breathe in between and each new course was brought to us hot and fresh off the stove. (Anyone who's hosted Thanksgiving dinner will know it's not easy to time the cooking of multiple dishes at once - I've tried and failed ). Additional bonuses that were meaningful to me: All produce was organic, and the seafood/meat was purchased fresh the day of from Whole Foods (tender grass fed rack of lamb, melt in your mouth sea bass, and truly the biggest scallops I've ever tasted). FYI Dylan is also fantastic with nosy kids who like to ask silly questions and/or get involved in the kitchen. Can't wait to taste his cooking again in the future!

He was professional, on time, and most importantly the food he prepared was delicious. We had 12 guests and he and his team created a 4-course meal worthy of the 5-star rating. Cons: Very unorganized, the woman who works in "HR" also works another 9-5 job so i received emails, offer letter etc at 12 am very often. I received client introductions at 9pm. To connect with clients you have to cc the owner and the client., you have to do three way zoom calls and phone calls. Which im assuming is because the owner has some kind of trust issues which will explain my later issue. Once i was offered the job The owner told me my pay, told me he would pay upfront for all groceries etc. i got my offer letter and it stated the total opposite. Never in my personal chef experience would i pay for grocieries and be reimbursted. I didnt received any clients or feedback for weeks. It was a bunch if back and forth i was constantly checking in to see whats next. Once introduced to clients whom i found out had been waiting for services since december the woman in "HR" shared their address and contact info to reach out to them but didnt tell me i had to three way the owner when i called them but the owner tells me why didnt i add him to the call. I connected with 4 potentials in one day. Basically the threw all the people at me that had been waiting for months. There was one couple who wanted to chef services to be done in a certified kitchen (which is ok) or their home. Two days after the interaction the owner CT calls me an tells me they ran a background check on me and decided to take another route.. There are so many things wrong with that 1. How would they have gotten my information to run any kind of background check? 2. A background check was not a prereq for this position 3. You cannot just run a background check on someone 4. The owner was trying to tell me that these random people ran my information which i never shared anything with them besides my nick name So here is the short. The owner is a liar. He illegally ran a background check on me without my consent or knowledge, he lied on the potential clients saying that is was them and they told me it wasnt them. He also tells clients that he requires serv safe for the job etc. which he did not even ask me for( but i do have it). He shares your private information chefs and clients. I have addresses and email etc of clients before even meeting them. This guy is bad for business. Hes a racist and i gave him no reason to even run a random check on me lol. Even tho the things on there were either dismissed or a misdemeanor. CT violated my privacy and this business will mot get very far. After i asked him for a copy of such background check i was ignored . Be careful sharing your information with these people Erica and caster are both responsible. I shared my personal informaion for tax purposes only.
