I like the concept and ambiance of this place. It has a cool, casual vibe, with a variety of soups and premade sandwiches showcased behind glass displays. I so love that they have unsweetened fresh brewed iced tea! I ordered the grilled veggie sandwich: zucchini, squash, eggplant, pesto and mozzarella cheese served on an oatmeal type sliced sandwich bread. I requested it be warmed. I ate in. The sandwich was good, but this type of bread really is not the best pairing in my opinion. I would have chosen a French or Italian bread, or even a flatbread or foccia. I am bummed sandwiches cannot be made to order.The iced tea was great even without fresh lemon-they did not have any but kind staff asked if I wanted some lemon juice instead. Staff was friendly. The bathroom was very clean, but some of the tables and booths needed to be wiped down. There is a small parking lot and outside dining area. This is not a bad 3 star rating. I am an avid food reviewer, and I, Dan Hanis, believe this restaurant even with a 3 star rating is a great place to eat at. The restaurant created a great atmosphere for its customers. Unfortunately, my experience is not one I would deem 4 or 5 star worthy. I ordered the Do it Like Dan Soup along with the Spicy Chicken Burrito. The Do it Like Dan Soup was a cheddar bisque which I thoroughly enjoyed. On the other hand, my Spicy Chicken Burrito wasn't spicy and was worse than your average Qdoba burrito. Chef's Table has the best iced coffee in Connecticut. Their caramel flavoring is absolutely delicious with any milk. Although it's expensive, their chicken bacon ranch wrap is my go to sandwich when I'm in Fairfield. Their bacon egg and cheese is also great but you can unfortunately only order it before a certain time. Not only are their salads fresh, but they have a wide variety of toppings to choose from to create your own salad. In Fairfield, we waited in line to order, the people ahead of us had a salad made choosing from various toppings offered. I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap with a GF wrap, it was very good but quite spicy, also ordered a bacon and egg sandwich. A table came open while we were paying, so we were able to eat inside.while eating, decided to get a coffee, but the line was very long so we ordered online. It was a very casual atmosphere. I've always wanted to try this place and randomly popped in today for lunch. The place was cool and felt clean and comfortable. I was taken back by the prepared foods but I ordered a spicy chicken burrito anyways. I thought the sandwiches would be made in front of me to order. After they heated the burrito up, I took it home and was impressed with the big portion and fresh taste. The burrito had every ingredient I wanted. Haven't been to chef's table in a few years- pleased to know it's still around in a cozy location on Post Road! Though this location is cozy and a bit more intimate, I really liked that it still carried the same charm as the original location- cool art/music decor and still a great selection of fresh salad and cooked food. I ordered the egg white CrossFit omelette with wheat toast (have hash brown to my friend ) and small black iced coffee. The omelette was filling! Never had sweet potatoes in an omelette before. Have lived in Fairfield for 2 years and never knew this place existed! In an unassuming building with garage door style store fronts... I was in between meetings and it popped up on my google search for "breakfast." I got the standard BEC with jalapeño and tomatoes on wheat sourdough... the bread was almost the best part - so light and delicious but crispy perfect crust. Jalapeños and tomatoes were fresh and crunchy and eggs were fried perfectly. Decaf oat milk latte was perfect! Place was packed at 9am on a Wednesday - I ordered ahead and it was ready a few min early so I got to check out the small, but very cool, space. I'm mad I didn't know about this place sooner but will definitely back for more breakfast and to try lunch! read more

I can't believe I'm writing a negative review but my recent sandwich there was so bad, I had to say something. I got a premade balsamic chicken wrap at 2pm. I took one bite and noticed brown lettuce. Took another bite. More brown lettuce. Opened the wrap up and it was all brown lettuce. Took one bite of the other half of wrap and bit into a bone? A piece of plastic? I couldn't figure it out but it was sharp and hurt my mouth. Tossed the rest into the trash. You guys are better than this. read more

Love this place. Today was a soup day and they have the best variety of soup to pick from. Best thing about it is they let you sample until you find the one you are looking for. My go to soup is the turkey chili. It is so hearty and flavorful. Not to mention they also have a variety of sandwiches ready to go as well. Definitely a neat place to have some lunch. The Pros: Great decor, lovely staff and a salad bar filled with variety, especially with the types of foods you'd often get as a side dish such as quinoa, roasted brussel sprouts, blanched green beans etc. They have wine and beer! Decent kinds and varieties and decent prices! Cons: Not all of the salad bar items were labeled. Not good for vegetarians or other folks with special diets. It's self-serve seating which I rather like, but it means you really need to clean your own table. The brussel sprouts were over-cooked the day I went (2-2-13). I believe people who don't like brussel sprouts are the ones who've only had ones which are over-cooked. This veg should never be over-cooked. Let it be known that there were children are running amok everywhere. I don't hate children, but I dislike loud unattended children. So I guess that's great for people who have kids and want to eat lunch out and pretend they don't have kids that my be annoying people. Other than that, it's a nice place to get lunch. read more

The last time I was there, will be the last time I will eat there .The Egg White Omelette I had was drowned in butter. The Hash Browns were the same frozen kind, served at McDonald's. The only good part of the meal was the toast. The bread obviously came from a local bakery. No way was it baked there. It was a cold, rainy morning, and for some reason an employee opened up the garage door to let the wind and moisture in. Although this restaurant has been our "go to" for salads for quite some time now, we had an unfortunately painful experience with them today. Ordered through Uber Eats (was Ben paid the $1.50 extra to get it faster). The bag was indeed delivered before expected which was a nice surprise...until I opened the bag and it contained only 1 of the 2 salads we paid for. Bearing in mind the restaurant is 9 min away from our house, I called them to notify them of the error and see what options we had at that point. The girl who answered the phone checked with the manager and replied to me- we apologiZe, my manager says he will drop the food off himself. I said that would be amazing (thinking I would still be able to eat my lunch with my husband since it was being done as we spoke). To my dismay 1 hour 20 minutes passed, no salad, no phone call. Nothing. I again reached out to the restaurant. The young lady who answered the phone said-oh I apologize, our manager actually left and forgot to grab the food to deliver to me and went on about his business apparently. The young girl on the phone suggested I go back through Uber Eats to get the salad delivered (as if paying the fee and the delivery charge again was a totally acceptable idea. I proceeded to tell her that this is a horrible user experience. She then lied and said one of our works called you twice because we done have access to your information to even have your address. To which I promptly checked my phone for missed calls and unsurprisingly there were none. I encouraged her to give the feedback to the manager and have a talk with the worker who lied and they called me twice. She then replied "I just work here". Naturally I am frustrated and disappointed because we do really like the food but have a bad taste in our mouth now because of this ridiculous experience. The manager forgot he had committed to dropping off the food we paid for but didn't get and didn't seem to think going back and getting the food and dropping it off was worth his time. He just went about his plans. It is obvious the standard for their customer service is learned from the manager on down. Total bummer. read more

I agree with Mike C. Chef's table, or Groovy's, does try a bit too hard to be the hip spot in town, especially now that they sell booze. But don't get me wrong, this place is pretty damn unique. They have an insane amount of music memorabilia that is sweet to browse, lava lamps at every table, and even t-shirts for sale. Most nights they have a musician set up playing to entertain eaters, sometimes they're mediocre, and sometimes they are really impressive. My favorite thing about this place is actually their bathroom. It's awesome. Trust me on this one. As for the food, meh. It's definitely not bad, but not the best in town. However, they do have some delicious soups if you're looking to dish out more dollars than you're used to paying. And their salad bar is good too. read more

So me and my fiancée really like, sorry liked chefs table. She is gluten free and they make really good wraps that she enjoys, I always get a sandwich. Well today my fiancée goes in at 2. I just want to make a side note all the places I've ever worked lunch hour for like a break and most restaurants is typically 11-3. But as I was saying my fiancée stopped by at 2. They don't have gluten free wraps laying around they are made to order. My fiancée was told they don't make fresh food after 1:40. I'm sorry that sounds like a complete load. I really really hope the owner sees this review. So not only did my fiancée not get any food but a worker ended up telling her that it is a personal problem that she cannot have gluten in her food and he isn't going to make her a gluten free wrap. Do not ever go back to this place. I wouldn't be surprised to drive by and see a "whites only" sign outside their restaurant one of these days! read more
