We ordered paw paw salad or papaya salad which was well balanced in flavours. The pork crackling on top was so good. Sour sausage is delicious. It has rice inside and I usually dipped in the papaya salad sauce to bring extra taste. The tom yum noodles was a bit different to what I'm used to. It didn't really taste like Tom yum. Mm and the dessert - sticky rice with durian reminds me of my mum who makes it at home all the time. But of course if you don't like durian, I dare you to try it!

The layout of Sabai is bright and welcoming with the seating available on both the first and second floor of the building. Run by a husband and wife team (both trained chef's) the service at Sabai is very attentive and you can tell the produce used in all dishes is of a high quality. Now to the food, Sabai has some great lunch specials for $12 with two favourites being the house fried rice with prawns and free range eggs and the red curry beef with snake beans and steamed rice. A big highlight with the fried rice is that they use fresh (and decent sized) prawns, which is something or a rarity these days in a good fried rice. In terms of beers the selection is small, but the essential Singha beer is present and something which should be paired with any good Thai meal. For desert a big thumbs up for the coconut ice cream, which came in a very generous serving size and with a great taste and texture. Overall a great meal and one would have to say the best Thai in Richmond, can't wait to come back for dinner.

For the main course we had a green chicken curry and battered fried prawns with a tamarind based sauce, both we fine authentic fresh meals that had that Thai zing. Once again, tho, the prawns could have been done in hotter oil as they fell just a fraction short of being perfectly crispy. The wine list is small and modest but well priced, we had a Victorian Sauvignon Blanc for a quarter of the price we paid for similar quality local wine late last year.
