The Manchester Cheesecake Company - Stall at Levenshulme Market hosted by The University of Manchester

I Love Cheesecake!…read more I have indulged in the pleasure of eating many cheesecakes from a variety of vendors, and I can say, hand on heart that, the Manchester Cheesecake Company produces the best cheesecakes! I had the pleasure of trying a (mini) cheesecake from here when he had a stall at the University of Manchester market, which occurred every Tuesday during the Semester. Although, the Manchester Cheesecake Company, was only there fortnightly, Pietro, the man behind the company, quickly became a favourite vendor for the whole of my office. The first cheesecake I tried was the hazelnut chocolate one, mainly because I love any hazelnut and chocolate combo! It was a nice creamy rich chocolate with a Ferrero Rocher on top. How amazing does that sound! Although, it was a little sweet for me, it was still delicious! The next time the cheesecake man came to visit, I thought I would go for a plain cheesecake with a fruity topping, and these cheesecakes were even better! Amazing! I bought the blueberry cheesecake, which contained blueberry within the cheesecake itself! I think this is my favourite! The cheesecake is relatively standard, but the taste is unbelievable! The other cheesecake I sampled (because I bought it for my girlfriend, of course!), was the strawberry cheesecake. This had a nice strawberry mousse in the middle with half a strawberry resting on top. Here is a tip: Let the cheesecake sit in the fridge for a day (if you can!) to let the mousse settle, and then it would be absolutely delicious! The market is no longer on, but my office now has cheesecake delivered every two weeks. Yes the company delivers! The Manchester Cheesecake Company also frequents Levenshulme Market and Moss Side Market. Check out their Facebook and Twitter for more details! If you don't believe how good the cheesecake is, then try it for yourselves. Next time, I will sample the lemon cheesecake and rumour has it, Pietro even does a cookie dough cheesecake! Whatever I try next, I know, it will be immense! Find this blog on mcrphil.blogspot.co.uk

I called on Wednesday and asked if they could prepare a cake for that Friday and they were very nice about it. All I had to do was email the details of what I wanted to their main email and they sent me a confirmation. One of the best parts is that they actually delivered the cake to my house! I'm a student and I don't have a car so this was a huge help! When the cheesecake arrived it looked gorgeous with raspberry swirls and fresh raspberries on top. Everyone loved the cake and it tasted delightful! I would definitely order another cake from them in the future. It also was great that their prices are extremely affordable. So many cake shops in Manchester charge 30+ pounds for a cake and this cake was only 18 pounds. A very reasonable price for the quality. Order from here, you will not regret it!

I shouldn't have to make an excuse to go here - It's excellent. The ground floor is their outstanding chocolate and cake shop - definitely worth spending some time here tasting and choosing what they have on offer. Their selection of over 40 celebration cakes on display are stunning - you'll find yourself staring at them like some sort of art. A few of the wedding cakes are pushing £1,000.. asking if it would be worth it? For me, yes! Their cakes are amazing - no wonder Wayne Rooney bought his wedding cake from here and had it shipped to Italy. You'll find me with my face pressed up against the viewing window where you can watch the cake decorators working hard to perfect these masterpieces *drool* I'm certainly not planning my wedding or anything but I already know that there's a massive possibility that my cake will be from here. On the first floor is an elegant restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and of course CAKE. The menu is fab and I haven't heard anybody mention a bad word about it. I have yet to visit the restaurant and I hear that unless you book weeks in advance you've no chance of getting in, but this only makes me want to try it even more and it is certainly on my list. In the past I have bought baskets from here and made my own hampers, mainly for family or friends at Christmas time - consisting of chocolates, hand make cakes, biscuits, marmalades, wines etc (all locally sourced). Safe to say these always go down well. If you have a sweet tooth, this is somewhere you should definitely visit.

A 3-pronged venture from Gingers Comfort Emporium, Lush Brownies and Bakeorama results in a your 1-stop shop for your sugar fix and it comes in the form of amazing Brownies, heavenly cakes and incredible Ice-cream - words don't do it justice though, so you need to go visit! My only gripe is that I'm not over that side of town often enough, though my waist line will tell you thats a good thing! I had been excited for months at the prospect of MilkJam arriving and I was definitely not disappointed!

The lady behind the counter was very patient, even though it was nearly closing time, and talked us through the options and her recommendations. We'd just pigged out at a Chinese restaurant so went for a light option - only joking, of course we didn't! We each had ice cream and a brownie. I tried to go for the more unusual options so ended up with the Chorlton Brewery dark Vienna beer ice cream (!) and a New York Magic Cookie brownie, which had crumbled digestive biscuits and dessicated coconut in it. They were both very good, I was really impressed with the ice cream in particular. It had a distinctive beery flavour while still being creamy and delicious. It's not exactly cheap at £5 for a brownie and ice cream, but so worth it for a treat and a fun place to take friends.

Definitely couldn't swing a cat (not that I would do, or ever have done, that) but it has that unique and homely NQ feel that makes MCR amazing. It was busy, so we managed to grab a small table for 2 in the corner and peruse the chocolates on offer whilst we waited. I chose 4 little chocolates - pistachio, dark chocolate, salted caramel and a weird, yet lovely stilton truffle. At over £1 each for a small, round chocolate that can easily be swallowed in one, the chocolates aren't cheap here - but they are hand made by the lady owner on-site in the workshop in the back. The chocolates on display can be chosen and devoured in the shop like we did, or you can box them up to take away or box them up as a gift! I ordered a salted caramel hot chocolate and spent a while enjoying it and chatting away. The hot chocolates are made with 66% melted dark chocolate with water - and are all dairy free. They don't fill you up and don't lie heavy on your stomach later on in the day, it's just an excellent, chocolately sugar fix.

Some are handmade by the owner, others are factory bred but still delish. They are known for their hot chocolate but recommendation is, if you get one, stick to the regular flavour. I purchased an orange flavour one, simply because I love citrus. A bit disappointing though as the drink was flavoured with little orange bits, almost like little pulp pieces. Other than that, it was a nice and warming esp for the frigid Manchester weather. It was nothing fancy but sometimes all you want is soothing chocolate to get-in-yo-bellllaayy! Drinks are around £3.50 and the chocolate bars vary in price but definitely a good idea for a brief chocolate indulging or simply as a nice gift.

After hoping to relive nostalgia on what must have been the quietest night on Canal Street, I cast a gaze once more to the brightly coloured Archie's on the way back to Piccadilly Station and thought it too late for a fattening late night meal. I ultimately gave in and what a treat that was. I absolutely could not resist the Butterscotch Shake, which turned out to be amazing, to a point where I was sucking in the straw to get everything out of the cup and was equally delighted with the Good Burger, which I inhaled on the return train journey back to the hotel. Make sure to bring a friend; it's very sweet! Although the line was not very long, the staff was very abrupt. After receiving my milkshake, I found a problem in it, and when I went to tell the staff they accused me of lying. After showing them the problem they apologized, but that was very rude; you don't upfront call customers liars. Like the shake, but probably won't visit again after that defaming encounter.
