Another thing a good news agents needs is a rapport with the local community and I believe the owner of Selly Acre news has managed to achieve just that. He is a friendly and helpful owner who will always be prepared to strike up a conversation with his customers. As far as what is on offer here, well it is a fairly bog standard news agents with milk and bread through to sweets, everything you would expect to find at an establishment such as this. They occasionally have a few DVD's on offer but the choice is limited and the films are an eclectic mix to say the least.

Milk, papers, tobacco, tinned goods, and the like, so it's handy when I get off the bus from town and realise I need a few things for home before I trudge up the hill. Despite the newsagent tag it doesn't carry that broad a selection of magazines, so if you want something other than a Chat, Hello or Bella, you're better off using the Co-Op just up the road.

The shop staff are absolutely lovely: always helpful and a real asset to the place. There is a sub-post office counter to the rear of this shop. It can get very busy in the mornings, so expect to queue for a little while (you can choose your greetings cards while you queue). I have on more than one occasion had to insist that large letters are checked against the measure, rather than be charged twice as much for a packet. It's always worth visiting just after Easter, or indeed any holiday where chocolate is involved, as you can pick up their surplus stock for pennies.

The in-store café only sells sausage rolls, pasties and microwaved bacon butties etc and is more of a snack bar. The car park is poorly designed and traffic trying to leave gets tangled in the traffic for the petrol station. Were they not one of the few places that sells Birds Eye 100% Haddock Fish Fingers then I wouldn't be going!

At the risk of sounding like a complete and utter idiot, 'super' is certainly the right word to describe this small convenience shop. From a personal point of view, the best aspect of Supernews is the fact that they've got a great selection of sweets, many that can no longer be found in the majority of shops, but their prices aren't ramped up at all (a very reasonable £1 for two chocolate bars is a testament to this) to reflect the rarity of some of their goods. Spring hill Tesco, however, does boast a pretty damn good world food section covering Asian, Caribbean, Polish, Oriental, American and Irish. Fortunately this also extends into the frozen food section so bags of frozen okra and tilapia fillets are right on your doorstep (not literally). In an ideal world we'd always go to markets and independent traders but in reality you need everything in one place and Tesco's world food section delivers on this. True, you don't have the wealth of selection that you'd have at one of the big Chinese supermarkets like Wing Yip but then again it's only a Tesco!

Me telephone calls to the store were unanswered, I then emailed Poundland customer service, who answered promptly with two suggestions re what to do. I returned to the Nuneaton store the next day producing my receipt explaining my dilemma to a very polite female supervisor, requesting me to wait while she checked the camera. After a short wait she returned to me explaining that I had walked away leaving my products at the till point. She then preceeded to collect a duplicate of my items from the shelves. The two chaps who run the shop are personable and know their regular customers, which is always a bonus. As well as the usual ciggies, sweets and newspapers - they stock magazines (but no music ones, an annoying habit of a fair few newsagents round this way), booze (which is kept very well chilled and sold very well cheap) as well as groceries. As is always the case with these places, the groceries are a lot more expensive than supermarkets so I very rarely buy food from there unless it's desperate. There's also a pay-to-use cash machine and a DVD rental section at the back which costs a £20 deposit to join.
