During this past school year I was trying to put together a fundraiser to help out our high school…read morebooster club and I came up with the idea of a Family Photo Fundraiser. I immediately started looking online for photographers and began to feel overwhelmed so I went to the high school office and started asking anyone who came in while I was there. I finally decided to contact Dan @ Contempo because of the rave reviews that one of the secretaries gave me. She said that she loved her Senior portraits so much that she called him when she got married a few years later to do her wedding pictures as well. At first I e-mailed Dan and told him about my idea and he was very quick to respond and tell me how excited he was to help out. He then wrote me a few of his ideas on options we could offer the families and told me to give him a call. When I did I was so excited to find a photographer who had done fundraisers in the past and knew exactly what I needed to do, since I have never done one. He even told me that he would come to my location, which several other photographers I had called did not offer. We came up with a perfect option for a town that is mostly low income and he even helped me to create the order forms that were passed out to the entire community. During this whole process I never once felt overwhelmed or worried that things weren't going right. Dan is amazingly organized and knows what he is doing. When the day of pictures came he was 30 minutes early and already setting up in the school cafeteria when I got there. As I observed him interacting with the families for the next few hours I was blown away. The first group was huge. It was a husband and wife with their daughter as well as both of the extended families (it was twelve people total). I would have gone crazy, but he was very patient with the toddlers and just went with the flow. He gave them as much time as they needed to get settled and worked with the little ones to get them smiling. I was also surprised to see him taking pictures of not only the family all together but separate ones of husband and wives, siblings, cousins, etc. Overall I just have to say that Dan was amazing and I will definitely be calling him for any photography needs I may have in the future. If you are getting married, have Senior portraits, or just want some pictures with your favorite people make sure to give him a call or e-mail.

Be very careful when signing contract with her and explicitly ask for a term when she cannot show up for your event. The problem is not with her photo skills, but her business ethics. We originally had a contract with her to have our wedding photo. A few days before the wedding, she messages us to cancel the appointment due to fear of COVID. Although this give us huge problem because we don't have time to find an alternative, we nevertheless totally understood her and agreed to cancel the appointment. But then she refused to refund us the deposit of $900. After some negotiation with her, she said that we can use it as credit if we have other photo graph needs. Although we are super unhappy with this, we kind of accepted the offer. Then one year later, when our baby was born and we wanted to have 100 day photo graph for her, she agreed to come to take photo for us. But on the day of the photo graph, my wife and I have everything decorated and also took time off, we ask her when would she arrive she said she was in the hospital taking care of her brother and was too tired, and apparently didn't remember there was an appointment with us... I don't know if the second case it was true, but Oona was so unresponsive when we talk to her, it seems that she only cared about getting and retaining our deposit and nothing else. In the end she refunded us HALF of our deposit. But I guess everyone who had a wedding or child knows, it is not about money: our wedding won't happen twice, neither would our baby become 100 days again.
