Laura had all of our documents ready in plenty of time for the closing on our new house, and was physically present at the closing to assure things went smoothly, which they absolutely did. On the flip side, the people who bought our home used a big-name bank for their loan (U.S. Bank - am I allowed to say that?) Anyway, the buyers of our house had problem after problem with U.S. Bank which ultimately affected them AND us AND the people we were trying to buy a home from. Despite having ample time, U.S. Bank failed to collect documents and information necessary to close on our scheduled closing date. Then, instead of trying to hurry and fix their mistake, U.S. Bank dragged their feet and displayed complete apathy toward everyone involved. U.S. Bank blew everyone off, lied, did nothing, avoided answering the phone, never returned messages...it was a nightmare! In the end, U.S. Bank closed three days after the originally scheduled date, and didn't wire the money from the proceeds of the sale of our home to the sellers of our new home until hours after the actual closing, which affected when we could finalize closing and possession on our new home. As we were all sitting around the closing table at the purchase of our new home, the realtor representing the sellers of our new home could see what an amazing job Laura at Georgetown Mortgage did and she could also see what a horrible job U.S. Bank did. After that experience, I'm pretty sure that realtor changed her opinion of lesser-known lenders and started being wary of the big-name ones!
