I have been a longtime, loyal customer to this establishment. I recently purchased a firearm from them and was met with utter silence and scowls. The staff and ownership are rude and ignored me like I wasn't even in the store. Not even a simple acknowledgement or can I help you. Also they are selling the same inventory used/new for the same price on certain firearms. Thats a real bait and switch to a novice buyer! Price gouging has been apparent for a while here. They will lowball you on any trades or firearms you sell! This was my last call and won't ever help support this establishment again! Good luck surviving with the new laws coming in place July 1st. With the work ethic and customer service your displaying it'll be no time before you close your doors. I'd give you less than 1 star if I could. read more

I have picked up (for a reasonable fee) a rifle shipped in from out of state here. I also sold a pack rifle I knew I'd never use and got a fair price and availed myself of the services of their very knowledgeable gunsmith. I've never had a pleasant experience here. I've tried to support this store on 3 separate occasions. I was never greeted when entering this store and when i finally got someone's attention there was some sort of undertone I was met with while talking over the counter. They have a lot of guns but lack variety when it comes to the sidearms. I wouldn't recommend buying here unless you like rude customer service. read more

The girl that "helped" me gave me the attitude of I don't have time for you. The speed in which she demonstrated how to load lock etc was so fast I felt like she was joking. The staff is extremely friendly and are super knowledgeable about guns and if there is something they don't know, Mr. Gunsmith that works there sure as heck will know. I have been going to this store for roughly 10 years. I really like going there and seeing what they have. They do change staff quite a bit but people are still pretty friendly. I have used them for getting new, used and shipping things in. They also come through with getting things that are not easily found. Absolutely, positively, without question, the best pawn and gun store in Hampton Roads. I've been going here for several years now and this place has never let me down. I have no idea why there's a negative review on this place. I was in the market for a glock 26 and since I follow them on Facebook I figured I'd give them a try. The staff was polite and helpful. This store has a welcoming environment and affordable prices on used and new firearms. The ONLY negative I could find about them is that they don't offer military discounts on new guns, only used. But it's all good. The fact that they offer military discounts at all makes them good in my book. Would definitely recommend this place if you're in the market for a new or used firearm. read more

Can't say enough good things about Chesapeake Pawn and Gun !! I was in the market for a new Conceal Carry Handgun and Cheyanne was extremely helpful. They had a great selection of new and used firearms and when the handgun that I really wanted, the Springfield XD .40 subcompact was not in stock it was very easily ordered from their online store. Ordered on Friday and by Monday it had arrived. Came and did all the paperwork with Cheyanne who again was very nice and personable, very easy to talk to and knowledgeable on firearms and she also recommended a nearby gun range that im going to check out this weekend. The employees were all very friendly and i noticed were quick to assist other customers who had questions. I will definitely be back to purchase a full size handgun and rifle in the near future. Buyer Beware! If you are not very familiar with firearms you might not want to buy one here. My husband, who only knows the basics, but knew what he wanted, purchased a firearm for me for a Christmas gift. He explained to the salesperson that he wanted a smaller one for concealed carry and definitely with a safety because we have grandchildren around. He also wanted a laser because he thought it would be cool. He had researched the LC9s and that's what he wanted. What she sold him was an LC9s Pro. Which has a laser but NO safety. When I opened it on Christmas he was really upset there was no safety. He thought they were the same gun with the addition of the laser. We kept it in the box and called to explain that we really needed the safety and could we exchange it for the basic LC9s and purchase a laser to add on. They said sure and they'd give us half of what we paid for it. We were told that their policy (which she never explained) was that once you leave the building, it's used. So my advice is check and double check before you leave the building. And don't rely on what the salesperson tells you. I would not recommend buying here. read more

Never will I go to this store again. I stood in line for their "Black Friday special" and once I got to the front of the line I was told in a rude manner I couldn't purchase the firearm they had on sale because they said "state police and ATF won't allow them to use a current vehicle registration to show proof of residence if the address on my ID wasn't correct". They were wrong because a vehicle registration is a government issued document and can be used. I'm not sure where they got that information from but they are wrong and shouldn't be in the sale of firearms if the employees don't know the right rules and laws. read more
