The station is managed by East Midlands Railway, who provide most of the major services going in and out of the station, including services to Manchester and London. The station is also served by Transpennine Express on the Manchester Airport - Cleethorpes line (via Doncaster), and also has CrossCountry services (Edinburgh, Reading, Newcastle, York) and many Northern services (local services around Yorkshire and Greater Manchester) Due to the construction of the station, meaning you have to pass through the station to use the footbridge for access to bus and Supertram services, there are no ticket gates here. The main concourse of the station is pretty noticeable and modern, including a couple of shops / small-take away kiosks, there isn't particularly places to sit down and get something to eat/drink in the station which is annoying, but there is a Superdrug and Marks and Spencer Simply Food. There are places nearby in the city centre for food, however. I hate the lift at this station which takes you up to the footbridge, it must be the world's slowest lift, the doors take forever to close up to the point they're forced to have a sign in the lift, it says they're "working on it", but it's been like that for over two years... I guess it will stay like that. I think the station is A-OK, but still miles apart from other stations in Yorkshire including York and Leeds. 3*

There is also a tram stop nearby for Sheffield services. It's really quite a nice station with easy access to the tracks on stairs and step-free. There are labels on the steps so that traffic is kept to the left side. Many ticket windows for purchasing tickets if, like me, the automated ticket machine doesn't like your "swipe" credit card. Departure board is easy to read and the signage clearly points out which way to which platforms. There is a beautiful sculpture / fountain out front.

The station is operated by East Midlands Trains, which did cause some confusion in the past with Yelp merging the two listings by mistake, for anyone reading this confused, British railway stations which aren't the busiest, major stations such as Manchester Piccadilly and most in London, are often operated by local railway operators who mainly use the station, in this case East Midlands trains operate this station, so the staff you'll see around often have jackets with that provider on, in a similar way Brighton Station is operated by Southern Railway. Other providers serving the station include Northern and Cross Country. Being on the Midland Main Line, East Midlands Trains offer serves to East Midlands Parkway (for the airport), Leicester, Chesterfield etc and Cross Country offer services on their Reading-Newcastle and Cardiff-Nottingham routes, which, as well as the named cities, also call at Birmingham and Sheffield. Sadly, there are no direct routes to Manchester with the best routes being an East Midlands service to Stoke On-Trent or Sheffield or a Cross Country service into Birmingham New Street and then onto there, the services into London are also pretty infrequent and although you can get an East Midlands service into St Pancras, arriving in just over 90 minutes it is again better to go into Birmingham. It is located rather close to Pride Park Football Stadium, home to Championship side Derby County, who potentially could be in the Premier League with a playoff win over Aston Villa at the end of the month, making it quite an easy ground to get too, so good luck to them on their promotion quest. The station seemed quite clean, and the staff in the station seemed nice, the bridge was quite modern considering at most other stations including nearby Sheffield they tend to be a little grubby and ugly. There isn't a lot of businesses inside the station, there is a Costa and WHSmith which are pretty much regulars to train stations in the UK, especially the latter. A clean train station, mainly offering local services, just over half an hour from Birmingham and Sheffield where you can get loads more trains to carry on your journey. 3*

Opened in 1849 by the Sheffield & Lincolnshire Junction Railway, the station was provided with impressive and handsome stone buildings in the Jacobean Style. It became a junction in 1875 when the Midland Railway line from Mansfield opened, providing through services from Nottingham. This line closed in 1964, but was re-opened to Worksop in 1998. To-day, the attractive station buildings have survived intact and, although the station is not staffed all day, it appears very well maintained. Part of the original building on the south side is occupied by the Mallard pub (named after the famous world-record holding steam locomotive). The principal train service is the Sheffield-Lincoln service, which operates roughly hourly during week-days, with additional trains to Worksop in the peak hours. On Saturdays there are also occasional through services to Grimsby and Cleethorpes. Services on the line to Mansfield and Nottingham are also hourly. Both lines have a much reduced service on Sundays. The station has step-free access to both platforms (though access between them is via the road and level crossing - allow a good 5 minutes), and there are toilets and parking spaces, but no taxi rank or cycle storage. There are no refreshment facilities - but the adjacent pub provides some food, as well as excellent real-ales.

Although its not staffed all day, the station is relatively clean and tidy, and looks well looked after. Tickets can be booked in the ticket office, and on one of the platforms is a small café where you can buy drinks, snacks, and newspapers, which can the time pass. The near-by Mallard pub could also provide another method of passing the time! A surprisingly good station for a town the size of Worksop!

The station and platform areas are pretty basic, similar to the size and facilities of a small town, there is a small waiting room that is relatively comfortable with vending machines, a seating area and Amazon Lockers and ramped access to all of the platforms. The Interchange is useful for providing rail and tram services into a basic station serving the city's large shopping centre, for those who are unable to attend via car (There is free parking), it also provides the easiest access into the shopping centre via the Supertram following the closure of Debenhams (This means that if you are using the South Tinsley stop, there is a long walk through the car park to get into the mall). 3*

Operated by Stagecoach, this means you can use a bus/tram ticket in the area as one, making it much cheaper than other tram services such as those serving Manchester and the West Midlands. Unlike some other tramway and light rail operators in England, Supertram accepts concessionary travel passes issued by any English local authority. With 50 stations across 4 lines, it isn't the largest of light-railway systems, but it does the job serving most locations you'd want in the city. Services are frequent enough, but they could be improved. Overall, the trams did seem a little old-fashioned, there was limited room on the trams too at most locations meaning it would be quite hard to find a seat at most times, the carriages were also separated by a large step. Some of the stations along the network could surely do with some modernisation in most regards, even by adding more modern signs, seating, lighting and just bringing it in line to the standard by Metrolink in Manchester for example. One of the best ways to get around Sheffield and even South Yorkshire, at an affordable price, making it better than most light-railway systems in that regards, but still let down by old-fashioned, cramped trains which could run a little more frequently at peak times. 3*

ZERO RATING. I have been told by customer services NOT to expect a refund for the poor service I…read morereceived and didn't get to my location because of them. A customer already on the tram told me that 10 MINUTES BEFORE I GOT ON the incident was reported. So I got on the tram at 6.25 pm, it went one stop I had just paid and they announced we wouldn't be moving because there was an 'emergency' on the tram in front. If it was an emergency an ambulance would be there right? They priorities all calls. NO. It was 25 MINUTES AFTER I GOT ON THE TRAM A CAR ARRIVED, NOT AN AMBULANCE. THE STAFF WERE RUDE AND UNHELPFUL. I only just found out from 'customer services' today, that First would have let me on with a Stagecoach only ticket in these situations. I did go to the front to get off and for my ticket to be swapped to a city wide but they refused. THE STAFF DIDN'T TELL ME this important information though. I walked back home because I was already late so missed the meeting. Stagecoach really need to get a grip on the fact that NON EMERGENCIES aren't more important than every other passenger on the tram and it should KEEP MOVING or remove the non emergency from the tram to wait for the ambulance.

A small steam preservation railway running between Matlock and Rowsley, via Darley Dale, this is a…read moregreat half day stop if you are in this part of Derbyshire. The best parking and access is at Rowsley station, where staff are friendly and helpful. Wheelchair and buggy access is good, if not total, and there is a disabled access carriage normally in operation (if not, you have the option of the luggage carriage, where you also store buggies for the journey). Price wise, a family day ticket is less than £20, so not a bad price these days. The ride is a nice length, with some good scenery along the way. There is a small shop (not disabled accessible due to steps), and accessible toilets, at Rowsley.
