I love exploring different areas of Anzac Parade in Kingsford. Away from my usual go to Indonesian restaurants I noticed this very clean and inviting 'new' Indonesian restaurant that I hadn't seen before.
After talking to Michael the owner, I found out that the Chetoz Oz restaurant opened in 2023. The service was very efficient and Michael explained the menu to me as I was a first time diner to his restaurant.
The menu is very different from the usual Indonesian menu items. The restaurant specializes in pempek, a traditional Indonesian dish made with fish and tapioca. The Signature dishes are a wide variety of pempek dishes - pempek kapal selam (submarine fishcake), pempek kecil (mini fishcake) and pempek kulit (skin fishcake).
Along with these traditional pempek dishes, you can also enjoy modern variations of the pempek such as pempek panggang (grilled fishcake) and grilled pempek in banana leaves called otak-otak.
The restaurant has a good variety of rice dishes.
I chose the Nasi Padang Ayam Panggang.
I chose a breast portion of Padang style coconut and turmeric grilled chicken which was served on a banana leaf with some beef rendang, Jack Fruit, Curry Kapau Vegetable, Casava Leaves, Padang omelette, sambal and white rice. Cost was $18.
I also ordered Nasi Goreng (traditional Indonesian Fried Rice with the fried egg on top.
Second Visit - yes I'm already back again as the food was so tasty!
This time I ordered the Pempek Kecil - Selam ketcil. This was interesting and very tasty.
I ordered the Ayam Goreng (Marinated Fried Chicken), Mie Goreng and a dish of Kah Kang Kung. All these together complimented each dish perfectly.
