This area is bordered by Oklahoma City University to the west and Paseo Arts District to the east. The "Milk Bottle Grocery" marks the entrance to the district. Interestingly, Oklahoma City once had an original historic "Chinatown" underground in Downtown Oklahoma City. Let me walk you through some of my favorite places in the Asian District when you visit Oklahoma City. Start brunch with "dim sum" at Golden Phoenix which serves it EVERY DAY. For lunch, you have to try Vietnamese "pho" at VII Asian Bistro, the best pho in the area. If you want a more unique Vietnamese dish, try "Bún Bò Huế" from Pho Cuong Restaurant, recommend for returners ONLY. For dessert, stop by one of several tea shops in the area or Ling's Cakery for a delicious piece of "crepe" cake. For Asian grocery goods, visit Super Cao Nguyên, the largest Asian supermarket in the district. When heading out, swing by Lee's Sandwiches to get their famous Vietnamese iced coffee. Make sure to check for any night special events at Military Park such as Asian Night Market Festival.

The walk along the Bricktown Canal near Chickasaw Plaza is one of those hidden gems that's easy to…read moremiss if you're just rushing through downtown. The path is lined with stone markers and engraved history panels, including the "Ancient Mississippian Symbols" display, which gives you a glimpse into the Indigenous cultures that were here long before Oklahoma became a state. It's a nice mix of art, history, and scenery -- you've got the canal water, public sculptures, and these quiet little stops that make you slow down and actually read what's in front of you. The statues and carvings nearby add a lot of presence to the space without feeling overly crowded or touristy. Overall, it's a peaceful and interesting walk that feels more meaningful than your average city path. Worth taking your time with if you're in Bricktown and want something a little more reflective than just restaurants and nightlife.

All around the perimeter are plaques that tell of Chickasaw history. On our way to the Centennial Oklahoma land rush monument we saw this across the canal. We walked back on this side to stop here and check it out. We found this to be a very interesting stop. Definitely recommend you stop a spell and check it out too.

Not only do they have a kick ass website, they will send you brochures, maps and guides to all the fun places and activities in Oklahoma. And, man, there's a lot of really cool stuff to see and things to do in the Sooner state! This is the agency to contact if you want an Official Oklahoma Route 66 Passport. US Route 66, sometimes referred to as The Mother Road, is one of the most important roads in American history. It stretches 2,448 miles from Chicago to Santa Monica, and over 400 miles of this historic highway run through Oklahoma. The Official Passport features 66 of the most interesting Route 66 attractions in the state. You can collect a stamp from each place you visit and you earn a nice little souvenir if you visit all 66. In addition to my Official US66 Passport, I requested and received a staggering number brochures and maps. I can't believe how cool this agency is to send me all this extremely interesting information for free. Among the most useful publications I received are a Guide to Indian Country and another highlighting Oklahoma's African American History & Culture. I also received road maps of the whole state, as well as dedicated road maps of OKC and Tulsa. It was cool to actually hold an actual map in my hands. I can't even remember the last time I used a physical fold-up map. Way cool! If you aren't planning a trip to Oklahoma, you should be! The Sooner state has so much to offer! There are so many rooms you can go to for studying. I like going to the fourth floor. No one is ever there. They have whiteboards for studying and rooms you can rent. They even have museum artifacts on the second and third floor I believe. It's a great library and the people that work there are always eager to help.

There was a lot of controversy over this as when the people got farther in they came across pole tht jumped the canyon. They were called Sooners hence Oklahoma's nickname as the sooner state.
