I attended this school from 2nd grade through high school graduation…read more What makes this school unique is how it does not follow the traditional schedule of most schools. Breaks are taken from elementary school on to have students experience the world around them. Each year students take a different trip, starting in elementary school to places like MEsa Verde or Bent's Old Fort. In Middle School there are many programs to choose from that allow you to take a break from constant studying and explore topics that are interesting for you (I remember taking comic book art and acting). In High School the ECS program cannot be beat. A whole month off to study a topic in depth while traveling? I went to Italy and Bulgaria with these programs and felt that they enhanced my life and encouraged me to explore beyond what most students have when finishing high school. It also gives students the opportunity to play sports when they may not of had one in other schools. It may have changed since I was there, but anyone who wanted to play a sport could, and tryouts would only determine JV and Varsity levels. Small class sizes and dedicated and talented teachers make this school stand out. I owe a lot of my bright future to the great education I received at this school.

Absolutely no other place quite like it to receive such a well rounded education. Small classes sizes. Stellar faculty, staff, parents, and students. This is a place to call home.

They don't care about the wellbeing and mental health of their kids. The bullying has been so bad, that my child has been suicidal. Do you think they care to make it stop? absolutely not. They're all about as useful as a pine cone for toilet paper. Absolute trash. It seems they only care about the students that are academically inclined or the sports kids. I highly recommend you send your kids somewhere else where they are valued and cared for. They'll just be blown off and not taken seriously here. Editing to add that if you go to google to leave a review, they turned it off. Probably because more people were leaving more bad reviews than good. Says a lot about who they are. Garbage!

I'm a military child and I've lived in 11 different states and I've have gone to 13 different schools 4 of them being Highschools. Out of all of them this is by far the worst. Their saying is we breed athletes but really it should be "we breed toxicity" Teachers and students only promote conformity, and if anyone else tries to stand out or be unique in any way they are shunned and outcasted. Rumors are also almost impossible to escape from at this school. Everyone pretty much is copy and paste version of each other, and if you mess up once or do something someone doesn't like you'll be hated and lied about for the rest of your Highschool career. I myself and others have experienced the web of lies that this school places upon an individual. With that being said Individuality is not allowed. You'll find that people will always talk behind your back, and that gossip and hate speech are the only form of communication this school knows. If you don't like it then you're immediately outcasted. People also don't really know how to communicate as the majority of student prioritize social media over academics than actual communication. I hope you heed my warning. Please do not send you're kids to this school.

As a Palmer alumni, I can say I wouldn't have wanted to go to any other high school in Colorado Springs. The location is great, the teachers are in general good, and the feel of the place is great. Palmer also has the I.B. program, an international program that offers a 4 year accelerated level of study, which can give significant college credits, since you are taking college-level courses in high school. The program requires rigorous testing at the end of the program, which would make even the hardened college-student sweat, and definitely is a great program to prepare for college. Also, since the IB program is closed to IB candidate students, this means that IB students have the same classes with a small-ish (100) group of people for 4 years. This means many strong friendships can flourish. IB aside, the school itself still excels in academics compared to other schools in Colorado Springs. The sports are eh - ask someone else who cares. The administration however of Palmer was iffy at best, especially given the needless draconian hall-monitors, as well as the bumbling of the principle and vice-principle. Security is unnecessarily tight..so much so that I think the people there actually are considering that a terrorist might decide to go ape-shit on a random high-school in a random town in a random state. Ridiculous. Still, if you have an option, send your kid here...they will thank you later.
