My friend and I are here on the 5th June 2025. I am very jaded when it comes to restaurants but I can't praise Chez Alphonse highly enough. The place was packed with French people enjoying themselves. The terrine, the steak and pig trotters were to die for, as well as the isle flotan. Wonderful service, good food and authentic French ambianc. Can't be beaten. read more

Definitely the best traditional French Bistrot in town. You'll eat fresh specialties from the market just in front of the restaurant. Go for it without any doubt. read more

Disappointing and overpriced. Humming bird portions at Buffalo prices. I knew the restaurant years ago and you could get hearty regional french food (I was born near Limoges) for a fair price and in generous amounts. The amount was small, and the authenticity lost. I had langue de veau, which was common, my dad choux farci which was was nothing close to the original... we paid and left not taking desserts. The guy next to us had boudin noir with potatoes puree, I mean that you could walk to the supermarket and get it. Chez Alphonse turned to the snobbish crowd used to domino's pizza. read more

It's situated in the Quartier de la Boucherie which is probably the oldest preserved area of Limoges. Very pretty. As it is an historical building, expect narrow staircases and poor disabled access.
