I don't think a description of pizza does Le Monge justice, as the restaurant is much nicer than simply pizza, and they have lots of other options to try as well (including traditional French). For dinner I selected a small side salad and the campagna pizza which was delicious! It was larger than a lot of the portions I had seen in France before, and certainly large enough to share between two people. It had several kinds of cheese along with prosciutto. The combination of cheeses makes the pizza quite rich and creamy. My husband had the menu selection (which came with an appetizer of 6 escargot, beef bourguignon, and fruits for dessert). He enjoyed his selection as well. I would definitely stop in Le Monge for a meal and expect friendly servers, quick service and great food.

The staff was very friendly and the food was tasty. The wine prices were reasonable and portions were large. The chef formerly worked at La Benaton another Michelin restaurant in the area before opening this restaurant as his own venture. La Superb is small, chic and modern. We sat at the counter. We enjoyed an awesome 1er Cru while watching this chef handcraft our meal. We were amazed that the chef and one assistant made each meal to order while the customers looked on. This is a very transparent presentation and something very new to the Michelin realm. The desserts are even prepared on the spot and not premade. Wow. The take away here: Michelin quality food in a cool environment that is not stuffy at all.

I was really looking forward to their Boeuf Bourguignon with fresh tagliatelle, but the sauce only seemed to taste like salt and the pasta was not dressed (olive oil or butter) or seasoned at all and was very dry. You have to make a reservation ahead of time to secure a seat and price wise would be similar to an elite restaurant in America...but worth it because you are also paying for the experience. They are very knowledgeable on their wine (they had an extensive bible of wine that the wine menu was so heavy) and made great recommendations based on taste preferences. I highly recommend if visiting Beaune!
